I think there was a sign stating we should wait to go to dining area but no one was there. We walked round to the bar instead. Because of the beautiful weather we told the heavily made up girl at the bar, we wanted to sit outside for our meal. Swatting at wasps with our hair brushes the lady approached us with several menus. A specials , a lunch menu (12-3pm) and the standard. These offered some really tasty creative fresh fish, meat and veggie dishes. I really found it difficult to choose what I wanted as there were so many exciting dishes to try.. I had originally wanted to try this famous lobster but the sea bass, stewed in white beans and mussels ragu dissuaded me. My sis went for the braised beef with pickled cabbage and mash potatoe, whereas my mum had the lobster. When the food arrived it looked amazing. Fantastic presentation, my mum asked for some salt and pepper but I reassured her this would be seasoned perfectly. The food tasted as good as it looked however not once did anyone come and check on us, to offer any drinks or ask how our meal was. Looking around I spotted long deserted glasses with wasps having fun. After finishing our meals I fancied a dessert but no one came to clear our plates. After 20minutes I headed into the bar to find two waitresses eating lunch leaving one member of staff to work solo. I had to argue about serving us dessert because it was passed 3pm but if they had been attentive... We got the panacotta and berry cheesecake in the end which were divine. The Orange icecream complimented the caramel panacotta well. Overall , the food is restaurant quality with good sized portions and well priced. The bill came to 60 quid for three people. This would be a five star of it weren't for the poor service. Really felt unwanted :( But try here for the food, better than the pretencious white eagle and oyster catcher.

I'm a repeat customer usually going for evening meals. Only once have I been disappointed with the quality of the meal, and that happened to be a Sunday afternoon. If you would like a truly delicious evening meal it's very much the place to go, the daytime/weekend staff might not be up to scratch, or perhaps, it was just an off-day. The food isn't cheap, but neither is it outrageously expensive. You pay a few quid more than some alternatives, sure, but you get good value for money.

This village pub does serve as a nice starting point before heading down into town though. Many locals will stay there all night. The food and drink is reasonably priced. I wouldn't say the food is cheap, but it's definitely worth the money. There's also a decent selection of drinks on offer considering this is a small village pub that focuses mainly on the food side of the business. The beer garden is fantastic in summer, four picnic tables on a grassy area, there's also a childrens play area to keep the kids happy too. A very family friendly pub during the day. There's also a generously sized car park. Not really necessary in most pubs, but this is one that you'd gladly drive to just for a meal. The car park is never empty, but you'll usually have no trouble finding a space. Highly recommended for food, not ideal for a large group of lads/girls on a night out though.

There are a few pubs surrounding the market place that gives the city this reputation, but one pub that's the exception is the Albert Inn on Segontium Terrace. I live on the same street and have been into this pub more than any other in the city, and walked past it most nights as well, and my opinion of the pub is that it's an old-fashioned quiet but friendly little pub that's full of character. The pub is old-fashioned in style but nicely decorated - with wooden floors and beams and wooden tables and chairs and bar. There's a pool table that takes up one half of the front of the pub, and a cosy area in front of a real fire in the other half. The bar itself is towards the back, along with some more seating. There's a variety of drinks available and prices are reasonable. There's a smoking area outside the back door which is excellent as it means there isn't anybody stood outside the front door smoking - I think even the nicest of pubs are affected by this image. Despite being English, I've never felt threatened in here and the regulars are all really friendly and chatty towards me.

I highly recommend anything that has fish in it as it is all locally sourced... After much oomming and ahhing I settled on the seafood linguine and my companions had the crab fishcakes. When the food arrived I was happy. The amount of seafood in my dish was incredible. Small and large prawns, salmon, smoked haddock, scallops and mussels all swimming in a sea of fresh homemade pasta... the sauce was a flavoursome creamy white broth which was not too dense. Everything just tasted so fresh , even the crab fish cakes served with homemade chips. By the time we were half way through our meal the place was full..again if you want to come here you must book to save disappointment.
