**Warning** This gas station has implemented a practice of authorizing the max allowable against your credit or debit card, regardless of the actual charge. Most places will authorize $1 on your account to verify funds. This travel center put $151 of funds on hold for $30 of gas. Visa issued a notice to banks (according to UMCU), last year, that gas stations can start doing this. Apparently Pilot Travel Center is one that does. I have emailed Pilot corp, with no response. (yet) Workers at the Pilot Travel Center said that it is the bank and not Pilot. According to Visa, it is the Travel Center. Also, via Visa, they can preauthorize up to $151 for passenger vehicles and $500 for semi trucks. I can't believe this isn't common knowledge and people aren't pissed! How would you like to have $151 frozen from Friday to Tuesday. What if you were filling up on your way out of town, then you didn't have that money available because this new practice? To avoid this, go into the station and have them authorize a specific amount instead of paying at the pump. No matter how inconvenient it will be to use another gas station, I will NOT visit this travel center again. read more

Worst truck stop ,from a big fi e, i have ever seen..every parking spot has wood and nails.i removed 6 nails from the spot i parked in.junk and trash everywhere. Never purchase gas here on a credit card. Excessive holds placed on cards. The store is generally clean and all merchandise is the same as other stops. But a $150 hold on $20 in gas is rediculous and Standard practice at all their pumps I'm told after calling and a 3-5 day wait on average before funds are adjusted to actual purchase once Pilot send the actual transactions all financial institutions. Rep at this station tried advising all gas stations do it. "True" but they hold the actual purchase amount or some between $1 and actual. Pilot does the same to all customers whether you're a trucker, mom though trucker. I'm disappointed at the matter of fact attitude when the rep exactly what my question was and instead of answering with some useful information just answered with the standard "All stations do it" line. Simply taking business elsewhere over to BP, nearby Speedway or COSTCO, and Meijer. Gave pilot a try and extremely disappointed it's not placed in a spot on the pumps with eyesight like the regulation labels or in more than fine or larger print when you start a transaction. Debit cards don't incur this fee and Customer would happily use debit vs credit at these stations if they knew up front. read more

By far the worst of the Pilot/Flying J gas stations I visited on my 9,000 mile road trip. You get 3 cents off per gallon plus store deals with their app, and they usually have pretty good restrooms since they cater to truck drivers, so I tried to use them as much as possible. I was greeted by a stale pile of vomit next to the front door of this one. Once inside, I found a sticky pool of coffee creamer where my favorite flavor is usually stored, and both employees ignored me until one of them finished whatever he was doing on the computer. Mind you, this was a Sunday morning and nobody else was at the station, just me. I get that employees have other things to do, but when a customer is standing awkwardly at the register for an extended period of time and you're 3 feet away, take 2 seconds to say something like, "I'll be right with you." This is a member of the Flying J/Pilot travel chain.. The chain that hates its truck driver customer base. Place is always dirty, mens room smelled like ,piss again. Isles were messy, Two people who were working was a manager,who called over the other woman to check me out..The cost of everything is about 5% more than the TA across the street. I love this Pilot!! I always go here to fill up, it always the cheapest in the area. And to the woman who said $151 was on hold for filling up with gas, that's an out right lie. I always only get the $1 charge on my UMCU account when I check after filling up. The ladies inside at the counter are amazing! The coffee is always fresh, hot and tasty! The food and drinks are a tad over priced, but it's convenient and easy, since I live close. Overall great gas station in my opinion in the area. And it's a truck stop, expect the place to be busy. And just use the manners you were taught and be patient!! read more
