The employees are All very nice people. The store is always stocked with food items and other items. I always purchase my gas from there.

Pilot Travel Centers are the best! Get the app and map out your road trip. You earn points off of gas and items bought in the store. These are modern day truck stops. Some are better than others. This one was small and basic. I still love these Travel centers. Bathrooms were small but clean at this location. read more

Should be named Sully, but it's not. Why? Because THAT, my friends, is a Pilot. Actually took a chance when I was low on gas and drove all the way across the southside of Chicago with an empty tank just so I could fill up here because the gas prices here are so much lower than anything inside Illinois. They're actually considerably lower than most of Northern Indiana as well. Which is awesome because it's very close to the highway and most of the gas stations with dirt cheap prices in the Gary Indiana area are not right off the highway - or if they are then they close early and they're a little bit sketchy and run down, whereas this shiny new well-lit, close-to-hwy Pilot is perfectly awesome. This Pilot Travel Center has cheaper gas than most other stations in the area and is the joint cheapest that I found in Northern Indiana which is almost always much cheaper than Chicago Illinois. The restrooms were fine and the bottled water is priced pretty cheaply. Access to the pumps is great and it doesn't take much effort getting in and out from Route 41 which itself is only half a mile from the entrance to Interstate 80. So definitely one of the better truck stops that I've used and the service was friendly too. I don't usually give 5 stars to chains but considering how sketchy gas is in Gary and how expensive it is across in IL, this station is a godsend. And Indy end, it doesn't even matter. read more

Pilot Travel Centers are one of our preferred places to stop for gas because of their consistency around the country; sort of like McDonald's where there are seldom any surprises. This Pilot Travel Center is no exception as we have found over the years of stopping here on our way through the area on our way to Chicago or Wisconsin. We have always experienced friendly service here in addition to its convenient location in Indiana south of I-94/I-80 just before the Illinois border. Like other Pilot Travel Centers this one has a great selection of drinks and snacks as well as hot coffee and many other items. They are almost always competitive with their gas prices and are often the lowest in the area. Of course the other reason we stop here are they always have clean rest rooms, and that is not an area where you want surprises! read more

I want to thank the employees for going above the call of duty. I use a walker, and I injured myself as I was entering my car. When I returned to the store with a bleeding face, three employees helped me clean my wound, and gave me a topical antibiotic and bandage. One of the staff even escorted me to my car. Everyone was so very kind. I want to thank you all for being the gracious people you are. It sets a tone for the entire station. read more

Nice place to stop for gas...and just across the Illinois border into Indiana so you get nice prices to boot. Without the Cook County taxes, the price difference is usually measurable. This station has loads of pumps so you don't have to wait around for a place, and they have lots of room between islands so you aren't crowded getting in or out. Next time you are over this way, do stop and get a fill up. Easy in and easy out. read more

Beware of pump 11 (and the "maintenance" guy) So, I pulled up to my usual pump. In my A3, I pull up to the west side of the pump because of where my fuel inlet is. In our family van, it's on the other side so I had just used the same pump but the east nozzle and had issues with it last week. When I pulled up, the guy on the east side of the same pump had been having issues too so he backed up to another pump. Another guy pulls up to the defective pump so I poked my head around to let him know that it's been having issues. After a minute of struggling with it, he decides to give up and move to a different pump as well. I decided that the right thing to do was to go in and tell them about it (even though I did not pump with that nozzle this morning but did have issues with it just recently). The lady I told was like "thats the third time this morning" and shouts out to the maintenance guy to go out and take a look at it. Now armed with the maintenance guy and at least a small handfull of other customer's experience, I'm thinking "great, this will hopefully get fixed!". While we're walking to the pump, the guy asks me if I'm still setup at the pump and I told him no but others had been having issues and I just had issues with it the other day. He says, and I kid you not, "you're doing it wrong". We then begin this exchange of me trying to convince him that its actually a defective pump/nozzle and him trying to tell me that I don't know how to pump gas. He said "you're the only one who had issues witih it" to which I pointed to the other two guys who were still there and they acknowledged that they had just had issues with it. You'd think at this point it would be obvious to anyone that the pump was likely faulty but no, this guy continued to insist that we didn't know how to pump gas and he was very serious. He said " you put it in too far and its not getting air". For context, one of the two customers looked to be near retirement so I know he'd been pumping gas for a while and the other guy looked to be about my age and I've been pumping gas now for over 20 years in my own vehicles. I think we would all know how to do it by now. I was completely shocked that this guy still insisted it was us in spike of at least five or six people having issues with it that morning. Also, for him to suggest not putting it in all the way is reckless in my opinion. That could be a safety thing. Lastly, while ending our exchange, the "maintenance" guy told me to go buy gas somewhere else if I didn't like their pumps. I don't even know how to respond to such idiotic customer "service". He should not be allowed to talk to customers. Anyways, I just thought i'd share while it was fresh. Beware of pump 11 (and the "maintenance" guy). They both need to be replaced. read more

Cheap gas compared to the City of Chicago. Definitely recommend if you are in the neighborhood! Far far cheaper than anything in Cook County or the City of Chicago. Not worth the gas of a special trip, but if you're headed back to Chicago and are in the neighborhood, gas up here! read more
