Today was a hit and miss kind of arena of gas stations my friend and I stopped at while traveling from Springfield, MO to Sturges, S.D. This particular Pilot Travel Center was certainly on the low end of the scale. The card readers didn't work at the pumps. The bathrooms were a mess, and without enough employees working the cash registers the line quickly backed up into the nearby aisles. So they've got gas if you need it, but it comes with a side of aggravation. But maybe they were just having a bad day. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt and give them two stars instead of just one. read more

If I could rate this pilot a 0 I would this is the WORST PILOT WE HAVE SEEN, I don't even have to say much the pictures will show... we had to switch 3 showers & each one got worse to the point where we had to leave and go to another pilot. I really don't even think a deep clean could fix this they need to be replaced with brand new showers. & the water wasn't even hot it was lukewarm ‍If you can avoid these showers avoid them at all cost. read more

THE MANAGER SPAT INTO MY FOOD!!! I purchase Burger King every other day, because I believed it to be 1 of 2 safe havens during the pandemic. I thought it more safe since Burger King has precautions set in place to avoid infection. This store is not following them. I'm a pleasant person who really doesn't like complainers. BUT- this manager was a monster. I went into the Pilot Subway on Singing Hills, Sioux City, Iowa, on 8/31/20 at 8pm. There was a pleasant 20ish dark-haired woman running the register. She took my order. A tall, thin, 20ish man was making the food. There was a huge 40ish male manager type micromanaging their every move. He was bare handed (no gloves) and taking his mask on and off as he moved around behind the counter, touching his face and then began loading my food into a paper bag. I asked him if someone else could do that since he'd just touched his face and he agreed. Then he went and inserted himself into the making of my second sandwich by spitting into the lettuce and chopping it in, as if I couldn't see him. I thanked the younger man and left. The owner of the franchise, including 13 other Burger Kings in the area (Shennen Saltzman) could not be reached since he has shrouded himself in a corporate veil to avoid contact by any customer. I spent hours trying to get an email for him and could not find one, though he is on many board of directors and owns multiple businesses and has many local affiliations. They simply do not want to hear what the customer has to say. It's just money in his pocket- who cares about you! read more

Seems to be one of the nicer Pilot Truck Stops that I've been to in recent months. The bathrooms were clean and updated, the store was well-stocked and clean and staff were friendly. There must have been an influx of people inside the truck stop when I came in because the lady behind the counter was working desperately to get everyone checked out. One of the registers would not accept cards, the other would not accept cash, so she continued to switch back and forth. This location also has a Burger King and Subway - both with plenty of seating and looked to be up to standard. read more

Fairly typical Pilot. Average cleanliness. BK and Subway food options. Good choice of snacks and drinks. Parking for about 75 trucks.

Terrible customer service but über cheep sodas, slushis and other drinks for only 89 cents up to an 60 FREAKING OUNCE

Could have just been a bad day to stop but overall not a terrible truck stop. Restrooms were fairly clean but bad smelling. Staff was mostly friendly and attentive with the exception of one lady who was arguing with another employee in the middle of the store. Lot and fuel pumps were clean. Checkout was slow. Subway was clean but had the typical wilted lettuce. Not the best Pilot in Iowa but definitely not the worst. Will give it another try when I'm in the area. read more
