We were on our way home and needed to get gas and Pilot was my preferred choice for what I saw for fuel in the area. This one has the whole truckstop area off to the side and behind the main building and plenty of pumps for cars and other vehicles out front. They were actually fairly busy when we were there. We got our fuel and then went inside to use the restrooms and see what food they had. They offer range for the most part are what you would find at most any good gas station from snacks and drinks too souvenirs and usable items. They also had a very good selection of hot foods. The items that are clearly visible, looked pretty good but some items come packaged in foil so I could not tell what they were like inside. If I was looking for something quick to eat on the road chances are I would grab something here as I have had previous good experiences with other gas stations. Pilot Flying J is a chain of truck stops in the US and Canada headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, The first truck stop opened in 1981 and in 1993 they joined with Marathon Petroleum Company changing their name to Pilot Travel Centers. In 2008 they bought out Marathons interest and joined a new partnership with CVC Capital Partners. In 2009 Pilot purchased all of Flying J's travel centers. Today Pilot Flying J is known as the largest Travel Center chain in the country with over 750 locations under the Pilot, Flying J, & Mr. Fuel brands. I don't usually review gas stations but this Pilot is an oasis of civilization in the middle of nowhere. I was on my way to LaBelle from the Ft. Lauderdale area traveling on US 27 from I-75 to South Bay. There is absolutely nothing for 43 miles except farmland and Everglades. By the time you emerge from the wilderness into Lake Okeechobee chances are you are going to need a clean bathroom, or a cup of coffee, or a tasty snack, or a hot meal, or an Icee, or gas, or even clothes and they got you covered. Truckers can get a shower or you can get money from the ATM. They have a PJ Fresh Marketplace. I can't really recommend visiting South Bay for anything other than seeing Lake Okeechobee, the largest freshwater lake in Florida. If you find yourself passing through the center of Florida you will find this Pilot a welcome respite. read more

So first the Pilot gas station is huge and I love it when I leave Tampa to go home because the Subway there is SOOO GOOD! My ultimate BMT was perfect so was the lettuce! Also, the slushies were good and tasty. The inside had the Pilot logo and had a coffee, drink and slushie area. When you walk in there, it smells like food cuz of the Subway. The road coffee hunt continues. Leaving the everglades after getting up at 0330 to fish. Its now 3 pm. I like a coffee for the 90 minute ride home. I didnt know this Pilot was here, its convenient, right on 27! Despite my map directions trying to run me all over, i got here. The spot was busy, trucks and cars. Parking was easy though. Walked in and found the coffee spot to the right, clean, well stocked, fresh coffee. The 3 important things. Lids matched the cups, thd cups were insulted, the french vanilla machine was working, nice huh! I did partial french vsnilla latte thing, topped with french vanilla coffee and finished with french vanilla cream, hmm? A trend?? The stuff was good, didnt feel like i was taking an intestinal chance with the accutraments. Nice truck stop, fresh pizza, probably as tasty as any other Fla pizza. Editorial comment. I was pleasantly surprised when we stopped at this Pilot on our trip down to the south end of Florida. We had been driving for a few hours in the morning and were in need of gas (and more importantly, snacks ). I noticed on the way in that the store was very clean all around, including the bathrooms. Also, there is a large selection of hot and cold food items like pizza, hot dogs, and I think I even saw soup! I was pretty impressed with the soda fountain machine as well, because it had different flavor options for water like lemon and vanilla. Overall a nice stop and I would recommend this station on your road trip or casual stop. read more

Besides being told that I couldn't shop around for essential items to get back on the road today. I am not a fan of the "our customers and employees wear masks when entering" policy the managers and some employees don't wear them. They had customers in there also not wearing a mask at all. Regardless of company policy states Mandatory masks in building the management team as professionals and representatives of the company need to enforce the policy. I'm from out of state and out of respect I wear one cause I'm in and out of different places more than a normal customer is. It's to protect Floridians really. I hate the mask concept it doesn't truly protect you. However, if I have to wear a face diaper then everyone also needs too. read more

After visiting with my parents in Ft. Lauderdale, it was time to head back up to Tampa. We were in need of gas and a restroom and I am happy to report that Pilot Travel Center is better than average. The bathrooms were super clean and newly renovated and they had plenty of pumps to keep traffic moving. Their snack/beverage offerings also seemed slightly better than your typical roadside stop. If you're in the area and need a clean spot to use the restroom, you don't have to look any further! read more

I'm truck driver. And last night al I stop at this pilot 210 US Highway 27 North, South Bay, FL 33493 for a shower and I had paid and was waiting for my shower number to be call. Not just me other truck driver were waiting also. When one of the employees which I should have gotten her name but didn't. She told us that all the truck driver to wait outside that we could not be inside walking around or standing for our number shower to be call. And since we didn't leave she call the cops on all of us and telling the cop that we were all there to steal. And we explain the cop we where all there waiting for our shower to be call on. And he told us to leave also. So we ask for our money back. And left. Moral of the story be careful when going to this pilot . The employees accuse you have stealing without proof. Even thou you are a paying customer. Just sad. Been to alot of pilot and never had this bad experience like the one I had last night . read more
