Genuine people for a happy time This is a difficult place to find on google maps at it is placed on the street. If you are too eager as I was to arrive early i.e. before 6pm, there is no sign to guide you. I was walking around until a local Chinese takeaway clarified where they were. After some stressed out walking I found it just in time for the doors to open. I entered and walked down some dark stairs to room filled with a large screen, lots of old TV prop relics, Black and white TVs and a well stocked bar. As a nerd this was cool! The bartender greeted me warmly and introduced himself as Nat. I told him about my situation and about the a**hole friend who had left me hanging when I couldn't find this place. He was sympathetic and offered me the happy hour deal of either two bottles of beer, Tsing Tao, or one of the cocktails. It had to be beer, I was on a diet of sorts. As more guests arrived, including my a**hole friend, Nat greeted them as warmly as he had to me. I was feeling comfortable and decided to get a cocktail. It was a version of a Pimms with prosecco and more fruits. Nat knew how to mix his cocktails. The owner, a guy with a toy samurai sword on his hip, talked with us about the Japanese Spiderman and put it on the big screen for us. Brilliant! I loved it here and will be coming back soon. An absolute must-see destination dive bar in the Holburn area of London. My 21 and 24 y.o. came out with my husband and I on a Saturday night. This bar is fantastic! The owner Slash is the real deal and has created a Kung-Fu classic theme with fabulous music and cocktails to die for. He spent alot of time talking to and entertaining us as visitors who may or may not ever get to return. We spent our entire evening socializing/watching classic movies/sampling everything he poured for us. It was a terrific time and worth seeking out. If I lived in London, not only would I be a regular but I'd rent it out for private parties as well...but only if Slash is behind the bar!! read more

This place is amazing. Definitely a must see if you're visiting from out of town. The owner (Slash) is a very welcoming host. My wife and I really enjoyed the vibe of the bar and the attention given by staff. This bar may be difficult to find on the map, but it was well worth the hassle. A great highlight of this bar is the retro Kung-Fu films streaming on all sorts of retro devices. Slash and his staff do a great job of making everyone feel welcome. read more

Great little spot! Even though I don't actually play arcade games much, I'm a fan of barcades because of the atmosphere/crowd they usually have, so I had to check this place out--especially when I heard it was a kung-fu bar. Slash is the man. He runs the place and bartends, and it was a quiet night when I first popped in, so we had time to chat. I'm heading to Paris in a few days and it turns out he'd lived there for many years, so he gave me plenty of recommendations on places to go (especially for food). He makes a mean cocktail, and with style, and is just a super friendly, chill guy. The drinks are good--the house specials are all twists on standard cocktails e.g. sex on the beach, bloody mary, and the ones I had were full of flavor (sex & zen and the Wong Island). Prices are roughly in line with the London average for a non-dive bar, but the happy hour deal is good: only 6.5 for a cocktail or two beers. I wish they had a bit more selection beer-wise: just Asahi and Tsingtao. Or maybe some sake or other rice wines to purchase? And subtitles for the kung-fu movies would have been nice, if possible, since they were muted. I'm seeing from other reviews that there might have been food (noodles) offered, and I didn't see anything to suggest that at the bar, but it's worth asking, I suppose. As an out of place American, I was interested in finding a Barcade in town that wasnt all redemption games and watered down crap. This place stood out to me based on their website and Facebook so I made it my first major goal on my short trip. I was not disappointed. The space is great, awesome atmosphere and design. The AV for the TVs in the bar is astounding. All the TVs are wired so you can change the station to one of any 8 stations playing fight movies and the like. There is also a giant projection screen playing films as well. They had 2 arcade cabinets set up as free play on some nights (I went on a Monday). They had a light gun game out back. The bathrooms were tidy and the place was kept very clean. I wish I was there later in the week when it was busier, but there was a reasonable crowd of 6 or so on a late Monday night. I had a sample of a few drinks and they were all amazing. I highly recommend the Pimps Cup. It's a delicious variation on a Pimm's Cup. They only have Tsing Tao beer for bottles. Great happy hour prices too. The bartender there slings a mean bottle too. Then there's the food. They only offer a noodle dish, but it's the best noodles I've had. If you are allergic to shellfish he can do it vegetarian and that's how I had it. It's got a seriously meaty flavor and his house oil is amazing. He gave me a sample to try by itself and it's absolutely amazing. I wish I could have brought a bottle back. Next time I'm in town, I'll be spending more time there. I suggest you give it a stop in. One of the most unique, coolest, hidden gems in the city. Come by to enjoy the funky soul music, classic kungfu movies, and some truly unique twists on classic cocktails! make sure you get one..or three of the best long islands I've ever had! The Wong island made with a lychee liqueur is to die for! My man Slash behind the bar is one of the most down to earth real people I've has the pleasure of meeting. In a city as big and diverse as London, it is always a great joy to discover such wonderful hidden joys. PimpShuei is a bit off the beaten path, but totally worth making the journey too. The owner and bartender, Slash, is an amazingly charismatic and one hell of a server. Just watching him make drinks would be reason enough to venture to the bar. But the decor, a mix of a late 80s mall and kung fu movie is so unique and charming that you can't help but fall in love with it all. A dear friend of mine suggested this place based on her strong desire for the noodles, which were VERY MIGHTY. Beyond delicious! Being the smart cookie that she was though, my compadre kept the rest a surprise; the phenomenally personable bartenders, the exceptional drinks, and the bad-ass kung fu environment. If you're the kind of person who can get down with a secret gem, one that rocks one food item well, tons of drinks very well, a unique atmosphere exceptionally well, and a friendly vibe so well as to not even be charted anymore, then don't hesitate in visiting. Slash and co. made our last night of drinking in London fun and insightful. Few things in life are better than cheap Tsingtaos and discussing the one-of-a-kind, best of the best places to eat in the city with awesome people that know where to find them! The bar itself, as several have mentioned, isn't in a spot where you'd typically think to look for a bar, but it's not really difficult to find with modern technology. There's two arcade machines in the main room (that lets you choose from hundreds of different arcade games) and a shooter game in the back room. So great! Amazing bartender/owner--the Tonic Jaa and Bangkok Dangerous were both great--but so were the classic cocktails we ordered. However, the best part was the dive/comfort/friendly vibe. Good people, and great drinks seemed to be the cherry on top. read more

Took some finding, to find this place, but when I did, it was like wow. Old skool, geek overload. Decorated with a 70s kung Fu, arcade theme. This place is "like" dude you have to check this out. Happy hour starts early, from 5 and finish 7pm. And they do a number of cocktails. I enjoyed playing the games there, brought back so many memories, to those who born in the Nintendo, commedor, Sega era. I was playing double dragon. My excitement was mental. And it was unlimited games, this only happens apparently when its quiet, otherwise it will cost. Another cool thing, they have a large projector showing some very old kung Fu film, felt like I was in some time warp. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. The service was good too, and friendly, and they put a lot of effect, to make sure it is not just a novelty act There are different events for different nights, like a street fighter competition, or a certain film night. Loved PimpShuei. Our Uber driver had a hard time finding it but it's right off Mount Pleasant through a little alleyway. The bar staff was very friendly, the crowd was welcoming, and the drinks were strong. Loved the vibe with TVs and a projector playing old Kung-Fu flicks and a room full of video games in the back, some were even free! Next time I'm in the area I'll definitely be going back. PimpShuei is amazing. I came fro San Diego on a business trip and a coworker recommended me to visit pimpshuei and I was not disappointed. Came in to try one drink and go on with my night but the vibes were good so I stayed til closing. The sex and zen has to be one of my favorite drinks of all time, it's like a pina colada on steroids. Had the tonic jaa, a martini, and a red eye with a couple shots, all were amazing. Anyone who enjoys a good people and even better drinks needs to check out this gem. My friend and I found this place on yelp and it didn't disappoint. We chatted with the owner about the theme of the bar and tried a couple of drinks (6.50 during happy hour). Wow. Okay I wish we had one of these in the states. It's a very intimate space, and even somewhat hard to find at first (well at least at night when you've had a few to drink, yes that alleyway is the right direction), but totally worth it. The walls are covered in 80s monitors playing various Kung fu films, and there's a big screen playing as well. In the back they have some pretty rad arcade games and on the night we went it was free play(!!!). Happy hour was awesome and the drinks were lots of fun and delish. The owner was bartending and he was super fun and amiable -- we did shots with him at the end of the night! read more

This place is AMAZING! I am in London for work and wanted to find a chill spot to hang out. I did a quick Google search for dive bars in my area and when I read on Yelp that Pimpshuei is a bar with a king fu theme and has arcade games, I had to check it out. I loved it from the moment I walked in and smelled the incense burning. The place is decked out with a collection of vintage boom boxes with tv screens in them (I had never seen these devices before) all of them playing a variety of Kung fu films in black and white. There's also a collection of original film posters on display and a kick ass mural. Love the ambience in this place, but more than that, I love the staff. I arrived alone and was greeted and made to feel welcomed and right at home immediately. It's the type of place where you can go by yourself and end up conversing with the other people at the bar all night. Pimpshuei is an incredible place to hang out with an attention to detail like no other. This is definitely my new spot. Now I just need to convince the owner to open his second location in Chicago. read more
