American Leak Detection of The Palm Beaches & Treasure Coast

Major leak in the guest house I live in. I called American Home Shield as owner has a policy with…read morethem. I paid the $75 copay and the plumber they sent said it was the water heater. It was not. He then changed his mind and said it was the shower pan and I needed it to be ripped out by a General Contractor. I went to Home Advisor and elected Avanti Builders. After several changes in the appt, he came out and did his inspection. He said he would get back to me with his demo proposal. He never did. I waited four days. Meanwhile, I am mopping, wringing out towels and having to lift my bed up on tiles to keep it out of water. So, I got smart and called AMERICAN LEAK DETECTION OF PALM BEACH. I DID NOT WANT TO PAY THE FEE OF $450, but it was worth it. Dan came on time ( ASAP) and with his sophisticated equipment determined the water flow under marble tile was coming from the kitchen. After further work, he found that the copper water supply line was crimped and leaking. ( I had pulled the fridge out about two weeks earlier to clean behind it and I must have crimped the soft copper tubing when I pushed fridge back in place.) NEVER cleaning dust bunnies again. So, now I am in contract with Servpro to remove the water and dehumidify so that all the moisture in the drywall does not give me a mold problem. $$$ Moral of this sad tale: Don't clean behind fridge, and hire only the best. You Do get what you pay for. Highly recommend America Leak Detection and Servepro. Happy Homeowning!

Giverny Gardens - I'm in love

The people working there were friendly and attentive, and even gifted us with some free plants on our way out. The plants were moderately priced and the garden accessories were also fairly priced. I love this place.

Poor costumer service and sick plants have changed my mind about Giverny Gardens…read more I moved here about 2 years ago and have used this nursery for all my soil and potting needs. I don't often buy full-grown plants, but decided to treat myself to a cute English ivy. I brought it home, kept it isolated while it adapted to my place, and within two days the plant was teeming with spider mites. I threw it out and figured it happens sometimes, but went back to Giverny about a month later to buy the same plant along with some other goods. Again, I kept it quarantined from my other plants and, again, spider mites erupted within days. Before tossing the plant, I called Giverny to explain this English ivy issue and asked if I could get a refund or store credit. The woman on the phone was curt and rude, telling me that my home was the source of the problem and she would not issue a refund or credit of any kind. I reemphasized to her that both times I brought home a plant from her store, I kept it isolated from my indoor plants. Heck, the last time I dealt with this infection was years before I moved to Florida! But she said it wasn't possible it was Giverny's fault, blamed my home AGAIN, and that she wouldn't remedy anything. It's just dumb considering I've spent probably $500+ at this store over 2 years and she went on the offensive over a $10 plant. It's a headache dealing with spider mites, and it was ridiculous she wouldn't oblige me for a disease her store sent home with my plant. Nurseries get infections--I've been gardening for 11+ years and seen some gnarly places. As beautiful as the plants at Giverny look, I doubt I'm the first person to buy an infected plant from them. Hopefully the woman I spoke with reads this settles down and learns how to communicate with wronged customers--especially loyal ones. I've been shopping at Amelia's Smartyplants since and highly recommend.
