I was told that Pine Plains was a good vet. I tried to bring my pet there when my current vet practice had staffing problems and referred me. I called them and told I needed to email information from prior vet and be "reviewed" before pets would be seen. After I called them to confirm they received emails and asked them to call me when they got emails they said "No, they were too busy". I understand they are busy, but then I was told curtly that I already called "several times". Basically, they were telling me to not call again. Sorry but I can no longer recommend this business. They were unable to book an urgent appointment for my dog . I made two separate calls after it became clear my pet was gravely ill. Sadly, my dear dearest dog died that afternoon. While they're clearly not responsible for the passing of my dog, a different more accommodating response might have saved her life. read more

It is the worst vet. Sure isn't the same clinic as when Dr Hart, Dr Webster, and Dr O'Neil were there. This morning our 11 year old female yellow lab was having trouble breathing. I called Pine Plains Veterinary for an emergency appointment. They said they didn't have the space for emergencies. Breanna, a professional receptionist, hung up on me when I called to say how disappointed I was in their emergency patient care. I also spoke to Heidi, a professional receptionist, first thing this morning and she was going to call me back after speaking with the veterinarian. She never did. We then called Rhinebeck Veterinary and they saw our dog immediately. We have never even been there before. They cared about her well being. She has pneumonia. She is critical. Her blood pressure was low, her oxygen level was low, her gums were pale, she was dehydrated and she was dying. She is on oxygen and IV treatment. They are giving her nebulizer treatments hoping to help her breathing. She will be hospitalized for a few days with a 30% chance of pulling through. She has a tough road ahead. Meanwhile, the owner veterinarian of Pine Plains Veterinary left a voicemail stating they can not care for our pets because I was unprofessional to their staff. Is this vet for real! I would never use Pine Plains Veterinary again. A perfect example of a terrible veterinarian. I begged and pleaded for them to see our dog, twice. They just didn't care if she was dying ... fact. I would not recommend this place, ever! * In addition, I called Friday, 2/10/23, to make a well care visit for our 7 mos old miniature Sheepadoodle. We used Pine Plains Vet Clinic for 20 plus years.. When Dr Doug Hart owned this practice it was exemplary!! He is so compassionate, caring and always treated us with respect and loves our fur babies as much as we do!!! He is the best of the best!!!! Now that he no longer owns this practice and that we have heard it's gone corporate.. A new company has taken over management of this practice according to the woman at the front desk... it's absolutely AWFUL!!! No longer a small town Vet Practice!! We own a farm and have a large animal vet along with our small animal vets.. I had called Pine Plains Vet to get copies of our records, so that I could have copies for the large animal vet being he was coming here to vaccinate the horse and he would be vaccinating the dogs too.. Today we had an emergency and I called Pine Plains Vet and spoke to Angela..I explained the situation was an emergency and could we get an appointment for our pup.I was told that I requested my records and she was so rude asking "what Vet have I been seeing" and being I was seeing another Vet that they had no emergency appointments today or Saturday!! What a heartless human being!!!! Being we own a farm we typically have more than one Vet that we use.. My dog was suffering and she could care less!!!! All I can say is if you are considering using Pine Plains Vet Clinic...DONT!!! If you currently take your pets there.. I would recommend finding a new Veterinarain.. Why?? They won't be there for you when you most need them.. during an Emergency!!! They are all about the MONEY and not about the love and care for your pets!!!! read more

We took our new puppy to Pine Plains Vet and were very pleased with their service and precautions taken with the post-Covid restrictions. A technician came to our vehicle to get the dog and take her to the doctor for the exam. The doctor then called us in our car to give the report and answer any questions. If I could give no stars I would. I will never in my life go back to this place and quite frankly I do not believe dr vankleek cares about her job or animals in general. My 10 month old French bulldog got hit by a car and the closest place was this vet. We rush in immediately and she takes a decent amount of time to see my emergency where my dog is obviously in pain and could have been dying. Spend $500 on X-rays for her to come out and say it's a "miracle" that my dog is in perfect condition nothing wrong with her just swelling. She pretty much just wanted to go home because it was closing time and didn't care about our emergency. Well a couple days go by and my puppy starts limping so I get worried and go straight in to the vet and the other doctor sees us this time and says there is definitely something wrong and we should go get X-rays somewhere else. They were capable of doing the X-rays there they just didn't want to because it was almost closing time once again. So we go to guardian vet in Brewster where we show them the "X-rays" that pine plains took which were not of best quality as my dogs legs were crossed so you couldent get a great look but from the nurses view of the X-rays from pine plains she could see something was broken without looking at my dog yet or taking new X-rays. So Brewster vet took new X-rays where they could tell my poor puppy had shattered her left leg and dislocated her hip... I was furious. How does pine plains call them a vet hospital let alone a vet at all. Brewster than proceeded to tell me that since pine plains didn't diagnosis her hip being out of place the day we brought her in we would now need surgery, instead pine plains if they caught it could have just popped the hip back in place.. but that would be too easy. So instead my dog suffered because the lack of care due to pine plains vet. We also had to get multiple surgeries on the hip due to dr. Vankleek being incompetent. read more

We had an emergency on a Saturday afternoon - our dog got his nose in a bee's nest - and we rushed him to the Pine Plains Vet hospital to halt the swelling that affected his eyes and throat. No appointment but no matter - Dr. was wonderful, helpful and fast. The staff is excellent, and the care is, too. We are lucky to have them! read more

I had used Pine Plains Vet many years ago for my horse who has since passed, so it has been a while since I'd been back. However, Pine Plains Vet was able to show me that they are still an excellent choice for your fur family. During a recent trip back home, my poor pooch Oscar had an unfortunate accident on an escalator. He'd never been to this office, but they got us in as soon as possible that afternoon to assess the situation. Dr. VanKleeck was professional, direct, and compassionate. She scheduled Oscar for surgery for first thing the very next day and even offered to have Oscar spend the night at no charge. I graciously declined, as Oscar has terrible separation anxiety and she completely understood. I was given clear instructions for before, during, and after the surgery and the staff at Pine Plains Vet took care of everything else. They were very thorough and provided excellent care. I even got a follow up call checking in on his recovery progress within days of his discharge. Everyone here is amazing, and I would recommended them to anyone who wants the best for their pet. read more

The Vets at this office are quite pleasant once you get past the front desk. Very rude on the phone. I was trying to explain to the lady what the situation was and she kept interrupting me. And when I paused she asked me "What is my problem"? Not the first time, but now, definitely the last. I spoke with two of the Vets there and they apologized but nothing from the lady who answered the phone. I thought she was just having a bad day but this behavior happens every time I end up talking with her. Not worth the aggravation. Makes me wonder how she treats animals. read more
