Target on Bourke really does have everything. Clothing mainly downstairs and all your household items upstairs. I came to Target when they were having 20% off electrical appliances, having just moved into a new residence, this was perfect. I bought a Breville toaster and kettle for around $40 each (Stainless Steel), Rice Cooker for $29, and an iron for $35. All very affordable for me and my house mate. The issue that i have with Target is that this store rarely has any jumbo bags (so i was forced to buy those re-usable, eco-friendly bags - which sure is good for the environment) and because the store is local centrally it's hard for those of us without cars to navigate our large items out of the city and on the tram (I ended up just getting a taxi when i bought all my items).

You've come to the wrong place. Target's eponymous women's fashion section leaves little to be desired. While it may try hard to remain on trend, the quality is lacking and the clothes just tend to look tacky. There is far too much embellishment going on here, along with a proliferation of terrible slogans. However, every now and then you'll find a total steal. It seems to me that roughly around once a season the Target designers strike gold and come up with a single amazing item. A few years ago it was the perfect (faux) leather jacket. It was quick to sell out, with people coming from far and wide to the suddenly covetable store. Similarly, last summer I picked up a classic polka dot strapless dress for an unbelievable $20, I get comments on it all the time. But don't get your hopes up. On the whole, it's best to stick to the basics when it comes to shopping at Target.

The Opening Celebration Concert at Federation Square was a lovely free event showcasing some of the artists and bands from around the world who would be playing some shows the week ahead. The tavern is located within the Seaworks precinct, where the Sea Sepherd ships are docked, and it can be a little daunting to find your way the first time. Basically, you take a left on Ann St from Nelson Pl and head toward the water. There's some parking along Ann St. Check out the creepy historic bluestone morgue and head through the adjacent gates into the industrial-looking port area. Follow the sign to the Pirates Tavern, take a left, and you'll see it. Inside, it's warm and cozy in a rough-and-tumble kind of way. The bar's to your left and the stage is straight ahead. They have live music on Friday and Saturday nights, and once a month on Sundays too. Usually music that appeals to an older crowd. The crowd here mostly IS on the older side, but children and families are welcome too. Zero dress code here -- if you're dressed elegantly, this is the wrong place for you. Drinks are reasonably priced and they have a wide range on offer. Service is genuinely friendly. Note that Pirates Tavern is only open on the weekends -- Friday night through Sunday night. This was one of the places on our must-visit list before leaving Melbourne, and we're so glad we made it. We didn't try any food but I could have used some coffee for sure. I've been looking for another performance just to go back.
