I am 6'1", 325 lbs and his office is not equipped to handle a patient of my size. They do not have a single large blood pressure cuff, so every time they took my blood pressure it was way off! The chairs in their infusion rooms Are built for people much smaller than me, they were even too small for my wife and she's only 5'4". Both times I had my infusions done in their office they had to stick me four times before they found a vein. I get a monthly infusion at Alera Care for a different auto immune disease, they stick me one time and get a vein. I asked them to transfer my infusion over to Alera Care and they have been less than helpful. They kept telling me the doctor had to talk to me first, he finally called me a few days later and told me that they don't do that. He told me I should find another doctor. My perception is that they only want to treat you if they can also bill for the medicine and the infusion, and they have been making it very difficult for me have my infusions done elsewhere. I asked them to contact the insurance company and just add Alera Care to the prior authorization and they said that was against their policy. I will probably miss my infusion that is due this week, because they won't make a 5 minute phone call. There are a lot of 1 star reviews on here and Google, be warned! If you get referred to them, save yourself the trouble and find a different rheumatologist.

Then the next time we met she had two women with her and she accused me of not liking her in the beginning, which was not true, I did not even know her. So I responded with how she came to me without smiling or looking at me and was cold. We met again and she had a male student with her and this time I received the same treatment as before. I explained to her everything I had been going through. She put me on medication that is not working. In my portal I was communicating with her, which takes her days to get back with me. So I asked if I could try this other medication that will not raise my blood sugar up, because I suspect that the last medication she put me on is raising my blood sugar. She wrote me back and stated that she can no longer treat me that I should find another Rheumatologist. I am a retired RN so I monitor myself very closely. What I eat, drink, snacks, my labs so I always talk with my doctors. And we usually work out a plan that we can both live with. When something is not right they usually listen to me. But she just threw me away like I was nothing. I have never ever had this type of trouble out of my doctors. So I switched doctors and you know how doctors talk and since this one doctor, Dr. K lied on me she must have lied to this nurse practioner, who now is refusing me as a patient. The previous doc, PA, and NP at Prevene we saw were all knowledgeable but also took the time to listen and do a proper assessment. More often than not, they also thought through root cause possibilities rather than simply looking for a band-aid to slap on via meds or overly simplistic advice. Our last few appointments with the new staff was full of interruptions and more talking than listening, telling me the same thing you could find online or in a book.
