It is always a welcoming and relaxed environment. Dr. Herr takes her time and listens to all of my concerns, and I never feel rushed out the door. We've had at least 10 visits and they are always on time for appointments -- and that's important to someone with two teenagers and an erratic schedule to keep. The special treats (from the peanut butter distraction they provided our dog during an eye exam to the pheromone-scented towels they wrapped our cat in to calm him) are especially thoughtful and helpful. My only complaint, although it's not enough to reduce this review by a star, is the high cost of services. But I know getting a new business off the ground requires a lot of equipment expenditures and overhead. Plus her office has a wonderful homey, not clinical (which always made me immediately uneasy, even if I was just at a vet for a nail trim), atmosphere before you even reach the entrance door. Also important to me is how highly efficient being able to pay in the examination room is and then being able to leave through another door than we came in. What a happy accident! So far I've worked with Dr. Burch, Dr. Horn and Dr. Kingsley (told you my dog is aging!) and they have all gone above and beyond to help with her ailments. They personally call to to follow up on how your pet is feeling, you can tell they genuinely care when they handle your pet, and maybe best of all, they notice and appreciate your pet's characteristics and mannerisms with humor and warmth. At this point, my dog and I have worked mostly with Dr. Kingsley and even if I lived on the opposite side of Memphis, I'd drive the whole way just to continue this working relationship. I've now taken several rats to her new location and found Germantown Animal Hospital to be friendly and welcoming. During the years I've seen her, Dr. Oleson has spayed and neutered my rats and treated pneumonia, respiratory infections, pituitary tumors, and just about anything else a rat can come down with. She did a particularly tricky surgery to remove two large intraabdominal abscesses from one of my rats. Mentally, I prepared to lose him. The thought broke my heart. But Dr. Oleson performed a miracle and returned him to me as good as new. She's technically proficient, in addition to having a warm bedside manner. You won't find a better rat vet!

I was petting the lab and keeping him calm while she clipped the nails, so I know for a fact that he didn't bite her. Dr Covington argued with me that it happened, but said the tech was busy doing something else when I asked to see evidence that my trained lab-that hasn't ever bitten anyone-bit the tech. Instead of the tech admitting that she's incapable of doing the job, she left the room and lied about why she couldn't do it, and Covington took that as the truth regardless of what two other people witnessed. I've been using this place for ten years, and the customer service has gone down recently.

For example, when my 125lbs dog, Toby, tore his CCL, they knew they were not the best people to perform his surgery. They referred us to an orthopedic surgeon in the area, but also called to check on us, making sure he had the best follow up care, even if it was not with them. At every stage they loved and cared for our pets as much as we do. Welcoming new family members, watching them grow. When Toby passed a number of years later, the entire office showed us immense empathy and kindness to our whole family, they cried with us. Every single doctor here has been fantastic, I feel comfortable seeing any of them. Dr. Johnson before he retired, Dr. Dixon, Dr. Hanks, they are all excellent. They keep up on current medicine, as well as non-traditional therapies if appropriate. They always walk us through the pros and cons of different approaches. They are available to answer questions as they pop up during the year.

The Practice Manager comes to their own conclusion without talking to the customer. Also the grooming professionals have went down hill. They do not listen to or follow your guidance on how you want your pet groomed. They are lazy and rather cut all you pet hair off for one small matt vs combing it out. I paid $180 plus for grooming 3 times and didn't get the cut I wanted. Because, I was displeased the Practice Manager retaliated without even talking to me. She needs Management training asap and conflict resolution training and basic customer service training.

In 2020, amid the Covid pandemic, I received an $800 estimate for one of my pets during a routine checkup, indicating he needed a tooth extraction. I got a second opinion from a trusted Vet. outside of our county. This veterinarian told me as told there was no problem with my pet's teeth. Five years later, my pet is doing well with no dental issues. November 20th, 2025, I took the same pet in for an issue and paid $1,157.70 for a single visit for X-Rays and blood work. It took over a week to get test results after four calls and two e-mails.
