It's that beautiful! They get threaten by visitors during heat waves and barrage you with nozy questions of your living standards, to see if you should be greated with kindness or shun with darting glances! OK, it's not that bad...maybe I should not drink this 5th coffee? Beautiful seating, beautiful pool. When all of the rénovations will be done we might get a membership. But why no diving boards? Sometimes mayors have crazy ideas...

Bottom Line: A Spectacular Athletic Facility Run with Bureaucratic Indifference and Incompetence…read more This is an unbelievable town facility in the city of Pointe-Claire. Unfortunately, the people who run it seem to be incompetent, or at least indifferent. The Centre was named after a former, an apparently beloved, city mayor, Olive Urquhart. I'm afraid if Ms. Urquhart could see how a facility named after her is being run, she would be spinning in her grave. Case in point: During the holidays, I could find no listing of the holiday hours on the website. When I pointed this out the the receptionist, she insisted that the hours were on the website, but failed to find them herself. Her next response was, "Well, the hours are on door." Having the hours on the door is of no use to people at home home who want to plan a workout during their day. Regular hours are posted here: https://www.pointe-claire.ca/en/territory-and-planning/places-and-sectors-of-the-city/find-a-location/olive-urquhart-sports-centre#horaire However, it appears that holiday hours are not on the site. For the record, the centre is closed from 3 August 2026 to 16 August (2026) inclusive due to the "Construction Holiday," a weird Quebec vestige dating back to the middle ages. Checking in to the facility also seems to be a tedious bureaucratic process. I have had several occasions , where the line was three people deep and it took ten minutes to get through the queue. From the laborious nature of the process, you would think people where applying for refugee status. The facility could be a great experience if they would just clean up their act.

Pointe-Claire has several outdoor pools and an indoor aquatics center. The town is very aquatics…read moreoriented and sent six athletes to the 2020 Summer Olympics. When choosing a pool to join, I would avoid the Lakeshore pool at all costs. I found the lady who runs it to be unaccommodating and rigid. Personally, I think she should be fired. As an alternative, I suggest Lakeside Pool at 22 Ovide in Pointe-Claire. I found the staff at Lakeside to be spectacular. The names Lakeshore and Lakeside are confusingly similar.
