I have been ordering whole beans from Pisgah Roasters for about 5 years- they are the GOLD STANDARD of coffees- what I compare anything else to-- and just fyi- everything else I've tried doesn't even come close!! So of course, since I'm in the area on vacation, I'm going there are much as possible! The place is quiet and unassuming- looks like a warehouse... Until you step inside and that smell of deliciousness hits you right in the face, soooo good!! In the past week, I have tried all of the specialty drinks on the menu- the Hot Tamale was especially surprisingly delightful- not too much spice, just a nice warmth. The Cold Mountain was also amazing, to me, it was the perfect iced coffee. The special this week was the Iced Coconut- it actually really tasted like coconut!My husband tried the drip and pour over- he's a black coffee drinker and loved them both- he loved that you can select different beans to try. I also purchased a 5 pound bag of my favorite bean- the Parkway Pick Me Up. Also love the Squirrely Blend. We also got the smaller 12oz bags to try a few different flavors when we get home. This place is the best. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! read more

We were in Brevard for three days for the music festival. We went to two different coffee shops downtown day one and day two...what a disappointment...mediocre and mediocre+. On our way home, we stop here, last chance. HALLELUJAH! THE REAL DEAL! When we arrived, the roasting vapors were coming out the "chimney vent" - a very good sign . We order cappuccinos. FABULOUS! FINALLY! I immediately have a second cup and my hubs tried the Parkway brew (loved it). Our server was very helpful and we left with a bag of Balsam Blend ground for use in my moka pot. Cute spacious interior, covered place outside. Indoors is kinda dark in the seating area, coffee bar is better lit. Wall with retail space: ground or whole beans or kcup options. I discovered Pisgah Coffee Roasters coffee at Bullwinkle Outdoor shop in downtown Brevard. I usually buy whole beans, but since I'm from out of town I chose ground. I got their Parkway Pick Me Up, and was pleasantly impressed! Delicious from beginning to finish! My husband and I drink our coffee black in the morning and I like cream and a little sweet in the afternoon. It had a nice robust flavor and a smooth finish. I enjoyed it so much that I went back to Bullwinkle's and bought 3 more bags of coffee in different varieties. This time I bought whole beans. (I haven't tried them yet, but when I do I will update my review.) Had I known that their main store was just outside of downtown I would have gone there for a fresh brew! Really enjoyed getting coffee for myself and a chai latte for my wife almost every morning while staying at an Air BnB in Pisgah Forest. Nice little coffee stop and they sell their multiple blends of coffee in beans, ground, and K-cups. Got a really well made coffee mug there too. read more

Local coffee roaster with a storefront? Yes, please. I purchased a bag of Parkway Pick Me Up at Ingles and was like I NEED MORE OF THIS. Yelp to the rescue! There was the roaster location nearby and it was added to the list. I bought three bags because whoa momma this stuff is fantastic! While at the shop I also ordered the White Squirrel Latté, as did my friend, and thoroughly enjoyed every last drop of that drink. The barista was friendly and efficient. I like that the shop showcases local pottery mugs and has large tables indoors and out for working and/or waiting for your order. I would have purchased some of the mugs to bring home, but I was afraid air travel wouldn't be kind to them so I unfortunately had to take a pass. No complaints at all about this experience. I'm a fan and am drinking some home brew of the Parkway Pick Me Up as I type this. Will visit again on my next trip to Brevard. read more

As much as I want to like a local coffee roaster, I have to say I was disappointed twice with purchases of coffee bags. The first time, I purchased whole beans, that I saw were dried out and lacked the oily complexion that is typical of fresh beans. Needless to say, these beans brewed mediocre coffee and I tossed the bag. Next time, I purchased ground dark roast coffee, which again, was below par. Not sure what is going on here, perhaps they have a large supply of beans that haven't been moving out the door fast enough? I will try this place once more. If the beans can't produce good coffee, it's thumbs down for PCR. read more

So what's a non coffee-drinking gal like me doing in a coffee roasting place? Enjoying an Appalachai and a quiet place to escape the pouring rain to catch up on administrative tasks while on a road trip. Yes, I know that most people come here to buy their coffee but I appreciated some non-coffee options. The Appalachai was a delicious blend of a locally made Chai concentrate (Darjeeling tea, ginger, cinnamon, cardamom), mixed with milk and sweetened. Warm and spicy, just the way I like it. The atmosphere was light and bright and the employees friendly and welcoming. Glad I stopped at this off the beaten path place. read more

This place is great, I love it! Bought a couple bags of coffee beans here. They have a drive-thru window if you're not quite ready to go indoors without a mask. This place has incredible coffee! We just bought 13 bags of it! The employees are super friendly and helpful. They know their product well and can answer any of your questions. All their coffee is Brazilian and named after local places like DuPont and Shining Rock. I only wish they were in a better location closer to town. Also, the sign is hard to see from the highway, we about missed it coming from Brevard. They need to upgrade their stereo system too. Running on 6 laptop speakers right now. Cruised by the drive-thru and ordered a Quad con panna. Perfectly acidic, smooth, fruity and well balanced. It was sunshine in a cup. I would have to say it was some of the best espresso I have ever had the pleasure of waking up with. Top-notch for sure. I will be back. Great stop on the way through town! I ordered an iced latte with an added shot & oat milk. The barista was incredibly nice and even offered me an extra cup when the ice melted too fast in my drink. Live up in Glenville, pass your building all the time but never stopped, went to my local ACE Hardware on 64 going back up the mountain and saw a display with your coffee.....I didn't buy hardware but I bought coffee medium Expresso roast Balsam.....wow great coffee. Next time I pass your building I will stop! Also love the names you have for your coffee because they are the mountains all around us! Good job having your coffee at the local hardware store, now you need a barista there! read more
