This is definitely the place for the 22 year olds and the 22 year-olds at heart. This place is so cute and always has trendy clothes. If you need a unique statement piece this is definitely the place to go. I used to think they also had one of a kind items, and then I found out this place was a chain. Don't let that stop you from coming though! The staff is really helpful and the while store is organized pretty well. It is a little small size wise, so I do occasionally get the problem of not being ale to rid something in the size and/or color I want. It's like a forever 21 geared towards young adults. The quality with these pieces is about the same though - they tend to get a little shabby quickly in my opinion. But nonetheless, check this place out while you're on the loop. :) read more

Apparently at Pitaya, standing at the register with clothes in your hand isn't enough to indicate that you'd like to check out. You also need to make the appropriate amount of eye contact with Erica. We were standing at the register clearly ready to purchase our items, but Erica told us she "didn't know" we wanted to check out because we weren't looking at her. When I questioned how that made sense, she decided I was being "aggressive." Thankfully, I started recording after that accusation. The video shows me speaking to her calmly and normally, despite how unnecessarily difficult she was making a basic checkout. Then Erica announced that she didn't have to sell us the shirt. Fine! We started to leave. A woman who was there in a police uniform actually had to step in and encourage her to just complete the transaction. And somehow it got even more ridiculous: Erica took my payment and then didn't want to hand me the shirt I had literally just paid for. What should have been a two minute checkout turned into an entire production over eye contact. I've never experienced anything like it. Maybe customer service just isn't Erica's ministry. read more

It's super expensive it needs to be least expensive , they have good clothes but I saw some clothes that had stains. The people said some rude things when me and my friend went and than came back with her mom they said that we needed our moms money. Then when we checked out we added everything up and rounded it because of the tax's than we checked out and it was 25 dollars more than it was suppose to be and we didn't add a tip so they scammed us. It wasn't a great experience but it was okay just I wish it was cheaper and better employees. read more

The 22-year-old living inside me has come to love Pitaya. Is that sad or awesome? I haven't decided yet, and I don't know if I care much. I mean, I buy hair bows at CLAIRE'S, for crying out loud. Like others, I had avoided this store for a long time because it looks like an expensive boutique and is surrounded by such. An on-a-whim purchase of a Pitaya Groupon finally led me inside, and I was pleasantly surprised by the prices and selection. I've returned several times since. I lovelovelove that Pitaya's clothes are mostly grouped by color. My brain really takes to this, and I wish all stores did it. It honestly pushes me to buy more things because I'm going through only what really catches my eye (pinks, greens, greys) instead of sifting through 7 colors and styles that I don't. The store is very open, well laid out and clean. It's bright and welcoming, just like the employees. During each of my visits, employees were super helpful, pointing out sale items, exchanging sizes and finding matching cardigans. If you hold more than two or three things, they'll start a dressing room for you. I wish more stores did this, as my arms certainly tire from holding 15 dresses while I shop. Pitaya's clothes are middle-of-the-road quality. You'll find some high-quality stuff as well as some thin junk, but most items are moderately durable. Another reviewer was spot-in with prices - about $30-40 for a dress, which is what I shop for most. Watch for sales. Their sale rack usually is confined to the rear section, but today they also had a few racks up front filled with marked-down items. Moreover, today was buy-one-get-one-half-off for all sale items. I tried on a ton of stuff from the sale racks alone and walked out with two cute well-made dresses for a total of $33. They've got a slight 50s shape to them and will blend in well with my Modcloth-filled closet. Pitaya does favor tulle, rompers and dropped waists, though, so I stay away from those and look hard to find what I need. Pitaya has a lot of accessories, especially bracelets and headbands. Sets of bangles are about $12-15, headbands are about $8, and fancy headbands are about $12. They've also got a lot of interesting rings. Look for the bowl of 50%-off items on the counter. read more

I end up frequenting Pitaya quite a bit -- during the summer it's so easy to swing by and pick up a sundress and be on your way! I've never found tons of items that I wanted to buy in one trip, but anytime I need a new outfit (usually a dress) fast, Pitaya is the place to go. The clothes are all organized by color, as Maggie W. noted, which makes it pretty easy. I have to say though that the quality of clothes here has always been kind of a letdown. I recently bought a grey tweed blazer with back buttons that I loved, and it fell apart (literally) in less than two weeks. I only wore it twice and in that time had to superglue two buttons back on and sew up a hole in the sleeve... it was actually almost comical. I finally gave in and threw it away. It does bug me that every time you want to try something on they have to hold your bags and your purse behind the counter. I guess it's necessary in some places to prevent items from moving out of the store, but it sucks to have to give them your stuff and then wait in line to get it back, even if you're not purchasing anything. Like I said, good reliable place if you need a quick outfit, but don't expect it to be super high quality. Awesome place for fun dresses. read more

And as a fellow fashion guru that has a fashion degree and also works in retail appreciates the fact that customer service is a huge thing and not only food but also and clothing. my cousin and I first looked at the front of the store ;and then a sales associate showed us that there was a new markdowns in the store so we took a look and my cousin tried on for outfits and bought two out of the four. The sales associate that helped my cousin and I today was very helpful and she suggested cute outfits that my cousins loved. Pitaya has a really cute boutique feel with music and an openness that entices me into this store. All the sales ladies are gorgeous without the condescending attitude and are always available to help you out. I have found some really good finds even though my plain and simpleness doesn't quite match with their style. Prices are so-so but material is better than the other fashion chains (F21, Charlotte Russe). I also love how the mirrors in the fitting room make me look skinnier than I really am (haha!). I find the location of this place hard to spot (I literally pass it if I don't pay attention), and finding parking in the Loop is a pain in the booty. read more

Affordable and Trendy - ala a higher quality/more organized Forever21. Actually, the store is very well organized by trend/color/occassion, etc. Don't forget the Shoes! They usually have some cute options that are shockingly inexpensive. Stopped into Pitaya with Allison B. so she could use her Groupon. Pitaya is a very neat, very clean place with bright white walls and lots of open space. It reminded me of a chic boutique (without the ridiculous prices!) I fell in love with SO many of the items here. Lots of gorgeous, flowy sundresses and accessories! I used some restraint and didn't buy anything, although I was definitely itching to. I hope that Pitaya releases another Groupon soon so I can shop here with less guilt! read more

I'd never been to this clothing store before and was smitten with its modern white interior. I like that they provide a comfy bench and a table with magazines for bored boyfriends. Mine lapped it up, buying me extra time in the dressing room. The clothes are neatly organized by color and even though I didn't come out with anything, the prices are cheaper than most other clothing stores in the vicinity. Tops averaged $25, dresses $40, and bottoms the same. I'd most likely return for a colorful night-on-the-town dress, but I wouldn't say the pieces are so unique they'll knock your socks off. read more

I started buying Pitaya's clothes in 2008 and still wear the shirts I bought on my first shopping trip with them. The store is light and airy and shockingly well organized. This is a nice, cheap boutique. Don't expect things to be super-high quality. But everything looks good. If you shop the sale rack first, expect to casual and club wear for 10-30 bucks. I would guess that there aren't too many pieces over 70 bucks. You can find a nice regular priced dress for around 30. Kinda like Rainbow's fancy older sister, similar to a Forever 21. Things are sorted by color, and usually if you find a standard piece in 1 color, you can look in another section and find it in another color. I should've known this place was a chain. The prices aren't at all boutique prices! It looks very much like a local, one off shop, but they've got shops across the U.S. I was drawn to their summer dresses. And the ones I liked were only $32, and they had a sale, buy one, get one half off. Not bad. It does have the feel of a boutique, though. This is not a one of a find boutique, it is a chain which is confusing to me as to why it's considered a speciality boutique when there are multiple locations. I do enjoy shopping here in the summertime when I make my annual trip to the loop. Like others reviews have stated I think there prices are pretty high. They do carry cute items though. The dressing room purse holding policy is ridiculous and makes me not shop there that often. I totally get it the thieves are actually the ones that give us hardworking customers a bad name and cause stores to make up these crazy rules. But I don't feel comfortable giving my purse to a store employee. Yeah that purse that contains my wallet with credit cards and my car keys.
