My favourite campsite in the whole wide world…read more I really shouldn't be writing this review as I want to keep it a secret.... but Bycross Farm Campsite has been in the Telegraphs top ten UK campsites, so I think the cat is out of the bag now. Oh well. We've camped here four times now and its always been a lovely experience and on our most recent trip we were the only people here, which was nice. We initially found this campsite when we did our first canoe trip down the River Wye, it was on the Wye Valley Canoe Centres list of places to camp on the river route. That is you could land your canoe at these locations and camp up. The overall highlight of this place is its an apple orchard. A magical setting to be honest as the place is surrounded with fabulous bird life. Be warned the dawn chorus in the summer time is mega here, so if you don't want to be woken, bring good ear plugs. Otherwise, lie back and test out your knowledge of birdsong. Another highlight is this camp is it allows camp fires, unlike most other campsites I've stayed at in the UK. The owner treats campers like the adults they are and as a result the positive camping experience is increased ten fold. Before now there was one shower and two toilets, which was just about enough. But one our recent stay I found out that a whole shower & toilet block has been built out the back. And an excellent one it is too. There are also more wash up sinks, I think three more to the existing one that was already there at the existing toilet block. It's a little rough and ready, but that is what makes Bycross in my opinion the nicest place in the world when it comes to camping. No manicured lawns. There are very little notices up telling you what you are not allow to do. In June 2013 it cost 5 GBP per person per night. The hot power showers will cost you 1 GBP per five mins. For me this is excellent value for a fantastic camping experience.

It is situated up on the cliffs above the small broad haven beach, the otherside of bosherston lilli ponds. Its has so much charm and beauty. A couple of seconds walk and your on the nation park coast path and greeted by the most wonderful views, the best in wales along side the views of the preseli mountains as reviewed on this site. It is near millitary ground st Martins, but they are hardly ever using it, there is a little station box on the coast path that if it was in use would have a barrier down etc. But this is never the case. The campiste has a basic toilet block with 3 toilets for each, but no showers. This is no problem realy and olny adds to the natural and rustic charm. And having the sea so close, your always in it, so a salty wash is always best!, But if a shower is in need of, there is a shower around the back of the toilet block in the national trust car park that is just over the hedge to the campsite. This is a only cold though and meant more for a rinsing after being in the sea. The owners who own the most stunning farm house and out buildings that have been converted and can be rented, are extremly friendly. and do regular checks of the campsite and facilities. They walk past, give a wave, and have a chat. A realy friendly family ortientated place. One time i was there, there owner made me stop putting the awning of my camper van and made me watch the setting sun with him as it dissapeared over the disstant horizon. Perfect! The views are breath taking.. and the campsite at night is beautifully quiet.. This really is heaven! hearing the sea crashing, and watching the stars that are mega mega bright above, whilst sat in the doorway of the awning with a drink in hand and haveing a good chat with friends!!! yep, sure is heaven!

Honestly the best camp site I've EVER been to. Ever…read more The main USP of this place is its privacy. Pitches are hidden away and branch off from bumpy walking paths and are surrounded by woodland. The pitches are so far apart from each other that you'll often forget you have neighbours. An awesome option which I tried for the first time here, as we were only staying for one night, are the pre-erected tents. It felt like a bit of a cop out but was an absolute godsend. When we arrived, we were shown to the load/unload point nearest to our spot. Depending on where you're located on the site, you then use their huge wheelbarrows to lug your gear to your spot which could be anywhere from a 1-6 minute walk-ish. Most, if not all of the pitches come with a handmade canopy area and some kind of hand crafted seating arrangement / bench area which can vary in quality dependant on what you've paid. The pre-erected tent that we paid for came with EVERYTHING. A washing up area with water butt, bowl, washing up liquid, tea towels; a kitchenette type arrangement with gas, cooker (2 hobs), kettle, and a big cupboard which contained all your kitchen utensils and cutlery etc. Oh, and a coolbox too! Although it was a bit knackered due to squirrels trying to break and enter... We also had a real charming dining area with a big table and benches which where made by the owner's son. SO impressed. Additionally as part of this package we got a fire pit/grill thing so we obviously had a BBQ for dinner and breakfast. Fuel is available to buy from the reception for a decent price. Everything here is GREEN - they really pride themselves on being environmentally friendly. They're big on recycling and enthusiastic about respecting your surroundings. Some of their rules can be a bit confusing, mainly if you've had a few beers before visiting the bathroom... There are two toilets in a cubicle. One for 1s and another for 2s! Also no flush, just a jug, and some sawdust. Totally fine though. On site there's a little cafe which is only open at certain times, I didn't get chance to visit but seemed lovely. There's a communal washing up point for the visitors who don't have their own, and a freezer for you to help yourself to ice packs for your cooler - they've really thought of everything to make your stay as easy as possible! The owners are great, too. Dead interesting characters and so friendly and helpful. And they own goats, dogs, and chickens! Think they might be my idols. Living the dream.

With some of the most amazing beaches in Wales right on the doorstep (Oxwich Bay and Three Cliffs…read moreBay), this is a truly wonderful campsite which is hugely popular with families and, well, pretty much everyone. Gosh, talk about serendipity, I just welcomed my friend home and asked where she'd been for the last couple of days. 'Three Cliffs Bay Caravan Site', says she. And I stare back google-eyed. So it's a pretty popular spot for the people of South Wales to escape to for a couple of nights away. It's also massively popular for summer holidays and can be seriously booked up during July and August. So get in there fast kids! The facilities are good, and there's everything you need to look after yourself while away. They also have a particularly good children's play area. While certain sections of this camp site can get very busy, usually you'll be able to escape to a quieter field. It can get a little bit blustery though!

Hillend Camping Park is the best place to camp in the Gower. Its just above Rhossillia bay and has…read moreplenty of space for caravans, motorhomes and tents. This Campsite is popular with surfers as it is right by the beach and you can walk from the campsite along Rhossilli beach. The Campsite is very lively and can be noisy at night so probably not suitable for young children. There is a large cafe and shop above the Campsite serving big breakfasts. What more can you want?

After being camping all over Europe I got invited by some classmates to head on for my first Welsh…read morebeach experience and we stayed on this park, I have to say that I loved it there, the camping is quite nice, the fields are green and almost no incline with plenty of space around. The location is brilliant, just off by 200 meters by the beach, one of the prettiest I have ever been (although very very cold water), and it has all the facilities you could expect. It is also very close to Rhossilly and to Worm's head. My rating reflects a bit on the price £17 for three people and a car, I find it a bit expensive after being on better campsites with real good quality for half that price, and on the fact that the owners don't really care about the welfare of people camping there, there is a lot of noise by other campers and that wasn't really dealt with. But saying that it really isn't something that would put me off going there again, you still have to think that here (in the UK) things are more expensive than elsewhere and this is really a pearl of Wales. It is on a perfect location for Surfing, Beach and Tourism. If you are a tourist in Wales or even a surfer, go there, you won't regret it! It couldn't be closer to the sea. Beware of the cold though, it is freezing out there! I couldn't sleep at all because of it! Bring loads of blankets!

It contains 90 self-contained, privately owned caravans, which are a range accomodate a range of party sizes. It is open 11 months of the year and is suitable for families with children and petsit is reall close to the Captains Wife Pub which does great food and drink The sea view are amazing and also the views of Sully Island. which can be walked to when the tide is out The park contains beautiful, well-kept gardens and was awarded a David Bellamy Silver Award in 2003 for its commitment to conservation and environment. It is an ideal place for potential buyers as it contains splendid, Scandinavian log cabins that are surrounded by a walled garden and privately owned woods.
