We came to town for the annual RV show and wanted to make the most of our time in Homestead. Being huge fans of live entertainment, we decided to buy tickets to see Godfrey perform. We opted for the 930p show so that we could do dinner nearby, beforehand. The tickets said doors open at 915p for the 930p show. After we found parking (a lot of congestion and limited parking nearby the venue), we made our way to the theatre where a line was already forming. The venue didn't start letting us in until 945p and the show didn't start until 1030p. Our server was a huge let down. We had been seated for a good 15 mins before she was able to come to the table and take our drink order. Drinks took a while, but that's to be expected with the number of folks being taken care of. However, the biggest issue is that our server didn't stop back to our table until halfway through the show. At which point , I asked her for two waters. She walked by our table six times, but never did bring our waters. I grabbed her and asked again for waters. No less than 15 minutes went by and she came to the table, no waters in hand, but said "it's last call. Do you guys need anything?". To which I replied, no thanks. I wasn't asking a third time for something I had originally asked for an hour earlier. Maybe she was new or having an off night but it definitely has a negative impact on our overall experience. The highlight of the show was Godfrey, himself. He was absolutely hysterical and we enjoyed every minute of his set. read more

I recently went to see Craig Shoemaker for the first time, and he did a really great job! I appreciate the size of the room, as it's not too big and not too small, so it still feels pretty intimate no matter where you sit. This time around I got to sit in the very front, which was a super immersive experience & I was quite grateful for that! For the most part, I enjoy Pittsburgh Improv, just not the way they operate. My bag was not checked when I walked in, and they do not have metal detectors. Obviously I wouldn't bring a weapon inside, but it just worries me that they don't have this kind of security. Tickets themselves are not cheap, which okay, it's for a neat experience so I can see past that a little bit. I just strongly dislike that they require you to purchase at least two items. I don't think it's right to force people to spend even more money. I ordered a ginger beer, and it was most definitely just sprite & ginger ale mixed together--I could tell by the fountain beverage taste, and flavor profiles of the two sodas. I did not like that either. If you're really itching to see a certain comedian, it's a decent experience and they would make it easier to see past some things. We caught a show at Pittsburgh Improv and overall had an entertaining night--mostly thanks to the talent on stage. The lobby is small but packed with photos and memorabilia, which is a fun touch while you're waiting. Inside, the auditorium is spacious with solid sightlines--nice views of the stage from most seats. However the show started late - well over an hour. The doors opened behind schedule so everyone ended up waiting outside in the snow MUCH longer than expected. Also worth noting, there was only one exit door after the show, which made leaving take forever. Strong start--drinks came out quickly and the staff was friendly. That momentum didn't quite last. We asked for water twice and never received it... and to add a little comedy of its own, we watched our server deliver two waters to people who hadn't ordered them ‍. Godfrey was the highlight of the night and absolutely crushed it. Had the crowd in tears from start to finish and his Trump impersonation might be the best I've heard yet--spot-on and hysterical. I visited this comedy club for the first time earlier this month. I loved it so much that I booked tickets for another show next month. That probably says it all BUT, here are some other deets: Pittsburgh Improv is located in the Waterfront, which means it's easy to find parking within walking distance of the venue. The lobby space where tickets are scanned is pretty small; this wasn't a problem on a lovely summer evening, but standing in a line that stretched outside probably wouldn't have been as fun in December. The check-in process moved along quickly at least. Fortunately the actual performance area and the seating setup are very spacious (and there's a kitchen operating in there too!). Everything is clean and organized, and the wait staff were all super nice and attentive during the night. My waitress checked on me regularly, and I also overheard an order being corrected at a table next to me; the staff apologized for mishearing someone's order and immediately headed back to fix it. I think we all felt welcomed and it made it easy to relax and enjoy the show (we saw Ashley Gavin). Food and drinks are expensive here, so go in prepared to fulfill their two-item minimum. My items were delicious though - I got a 1963 Old Fashioned and mozzarella sticks. Honestly the mozzarella sticks were some of the best I've ever had; I was tempted to order a second round! TBD if I get them again or if I try something else next month...because like I said: I had a great time and I'm already scheduled to go back! read more

When I think of a yelp review, I think more for the food than an entire venue experience...so this is a little tough for me. I have never thad a bad experience here in terms of service. You also have to keep in mind that the entire place basically gets swamped at the same time so the servers and kitchen are overwhelmed. Give them grace. With that being said, that is how this is supposed to go so if you can't cut it here, maybe don't work here. I have only ever waited long for food one time and it's honestly my fault because we got there later than I would've liked and wanted dinner. We ended up eating during the main act, which I don't love to do. Another issue with eating is if you get seated at the chairs in front of the table, you either have to turn around with your back to the stage so that you can eat or you hold your plate in your lap. Bottom line, if you want to eat dinner happily, get there earlier. Drinks are just OK, overpriced but that's expected for any live entertainment experience. They have a two item minimum so you have to get drinks or food of some combination. You can now order from the QR code on your phone as well, which is convenient, but I would double check your receipt because they were going to charge me for the other two people at our table. Oh, if you didn't know then now you do... You could be stuck at a table with two strangers because that's how the seating goes at comedy clubs. There is tons of parking around the venue and a few spots that are open late afterwards. Another thing to keep in mind is which set you are choosing. Often times, the first set runs late and they have to clean up in between so then the second set doesn't actually start when it's supposed to. I usually try to pick the first set because of this. I have often times waited an hour longer than it says doors are open because of this issue. read more

If it's crowded, expect to be seated with someone else, not always the case but if you're by yourself, highly likely. A small venue, but very nice, welcoming and comfortable. There's restaurants surrounding this location if you want to dine before, if not, the food and drinks there were on point too. I really enjoyed the Lissow show !! The venue is small and a sold out show is cramped. I don't like having to sit at a table with other people, but I guess it gets more people into the show. It's a two item food minimum per person on top of the theater ticket. The food is really good I can't complain. The desserts were ok at best. The pretzel sticks and the mozzarella sticks were great. Really fun comedy club in the Waterfront strip mall! I'd never been here until this past weekend, and I was pleasantly surprised at the ambiance and set-up inside the theater. There's plenty of parking around, and it's easy to get in and out. The theater contains tiers of tables and booths, and since it's small inside, there aren't really any bad seats (from what I can tell). There's a two-item minimum during the show, so you have to order at least two items from their food and drink menu if you see a show at the Improv. Our table only ordered drinks, which were expensive, but quite good. The food we saw at other tables looked fine, but nothing special. The service is swift and friendly! Great show however, we don't like the seating as they are first come first serve and you can be seated with strangers if you don't have enough in your party. Went to the Friday October 25th for the 7:30 Luenell show. There was a heckler *at the foot of the stage* who began right when the headliner arrived, constantly interrupting her for all to see. Hecklers are hecklers, and she tried to handle it gracefully, but would then lose track of her storyline and joke. Then there was a disruptive table, so loud that Luenell complained to the club and literally stepped off of the stage, pausing the show and pointing, telling the patrons "you need to tell the club". Yet she persisted. And they did nothing. Until some man in the audience screamed an f-bomb at the top of his lungs at the disruptive table, and it looked like there would be a fight. Security walked over slowly and meekly and apparently asked that they lower their voices. That was it!? Of course that too was to no avail - more talking, audible muttering and threats, and more shushing from nearby tables. This charged atmosphere and - lest we forget, the heckler in front of us all - continued until the ruined show was *almost over*, and then - only then, when the show was fully ruined - they finally threw out the heckler, ending in a mess of people on the ground outside, some woman screaming, and police cars, right next to the people in line for the next show. Don't ask us what happened next - we went the other way as fast as we could. Between food and "VIP" tickets, we wasted almost $500 and a what was supposed to be a family celebration on chaos, lax security, and a night that ended with an altercation and flashing lights in the parking lot. I no longer feel safe there, let alone would I take my girlfriend or any family members. read more

This place brings all my favorite comics. I love it here the servers are always on their game, making sure you have your drinks and food coming. I came here to see Darnell Rawlings and bill belemy to name just two of my favorite. I loved that the both introduced the crowd to funny up and coming Pittsburgh talented comedians. If this place has one draw back is some nights I feel like they sell too many tickets. Here me out the goal is to sell tickets I understand, but there is no reason why me and my wife should be seated at the opposite side of a table than strangers while our backs are turned to them and we're facing the stage. So I say that to say sometimes it's just too crowded. But I will be back because the place is still a great time out. read more

This review is to primarily focus on the food. The comedy club itself is great! Surprisingly, the food isn't that bad either. For how big of a venue it is, I thought it wouldn't be anything great but it's completely satisfactory bar-style food. There's not necessarily anything special, but nothing that offensive either. I had the fried pickles & boneless buffalo wings, both of which satisfied my cravings! The cocktails are actually really tasty (although quite overpriced, the best bang for your buck is going with a bucket of beer to share with friends). The only downside is that if you reserve a booth (as we did) you have to order through a server (vs the scan code on the table option), and service can be slowwww. We saw Tammy Pescatelli with openers Collin Chamberlin and Ray Zawodni (both Pittsburgh dudes, dope!) the night before New Year's Eve, and they all knocked it out of the park. We have seen a few other shows at the improv but this was hands down my favorite. Jordan was our server and she was attentive but not in the way. Kept our drinks full and was nice. The show was hilarious. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. The 9:45 (actually like 10:20) show is a lot different than the 7 show. At 7, you walk in at doors, and there is rarely a line. The late show, you have to wait outside until they clear an clean from the previous show. Don't be dumb. Bring a coat if it's wintertime cuz your gonna stand outside for a while. Also remember, 2 item minimum at all shows. This can be a beer and cheese sticks, like what I did, or 2 drinks or 2 foods or whatever your fancy is. We have tried a few different items each time we go and they aren't anything to write home about, but good in the "bar food" class. We can't wait to go back! Happy Laughing. read more

Eh, I love live comedy. But this place has some pros and cons. Making the crowd wait outside in the cold past show time isn't a good move and how small the place are def cons. If you are claustrophobic you may not like this set up - Sitting with strangers at tables and in very close proximity. The service is okay. The good points - the food is good but expensive. We got there right at 5:30 when the doors opened. I picked up my tickets at the will call window and it was fast and efficient. There wasn't a lot of people there so we got in and the ushered you to a seat. We were able to pick our seats. We opted to sit on the booth side next to each other, there were seats for 2 other guests in front of us. If you don't go with a group of 4 you will most likely sit with 2 strangers. Lucky, their was plenty of seating for each couple to have their own table and no one had to sit with strangers. There is a 2 item policy where you have two items from the menu. Honestly, because the tickets to the improv is cheaper then a lot of other improvs, I can see how they have that policy in place. The food isn't bad surprisingly! We order the fried pickles and they were made fresh to order and came with two dipping sauces. I really liked the sweet one it came with! It came out hot and fresh! The nachos were ok. For $14 you would think it would come with a lot more. The cheese was not hot, I opted not to add protein because it's shredded chicken or beef. I almost got the street tacos but again it was shredded beef or chicken and I don't think shredded meat would taste good on a taco. The girl next to me did get them and it didn't look good like I expected it! We also got the buffalo chicken sandwich and it was huge! A lot of it was breading but the flavor was good and that relish slaw on the chicken was delicious! The fries were hot and seasoned well too! The service was great and the waitress came around regularly to check on us! The show was fantastic and I'm glad it wasn't to crowded! read more

I've been here 3 times since the renovation now and I've had fun each time. I've been to many comedy clubs around the country and this one definitely has more food options than most. Usually your only options are snacky foods, but you can get a full meal here. The suggested cocktails are typical - sweet and expensive. Definitely not drinks made by a great mixologist, but better than your typical chain restaurant. If you're looking for dessert, get the chocolate caramel brownie Mason jar! It's a chocolate pudding with brownie bites and has a bunch of whipped cream and pieces of toffee on top. I gave this place a 4 because of the talent they bring in. They have a lot of known comedians come through and they highlight great local comedians as well. Always a good time, but last night with Chad Daniels was my favorite so far!! read more

Disclosure--- this was our second time here! I wanted to get here early as last time it was packed and we got seats I was not really happy with - plus we thought we would eat this time so wanted time to order. They were less than half way full so we lucked out this time with good seats. There is a two item min per person here and you can mix that food and drink I ordered a hamburger (comes with fries) and my guest ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich (accommodated by switching out the listed cheese) both where around $15. I don't typically drink so got a $6 coke ( no refill - you want refills they try to upsell you on the "souvenir cup" - I declined. The burger was def a pre made frozen patties... the chicken looked good but assume it to also be the same ... fries had some spice on them and were supposed to be served with a ranch sauce neither of us got. All in all ... tried the food once and will eat before I go again. They do have desert options and they did not look bad. Stand up was good tonight some members of the crowd took it upon themselves to become part of the show All in all will go back for the act but eat at home and go for dearest ;) read more

Hmmm. It's a comedy club, so do I really rate on the food/service, or do I rate on the comedy? Where to begin? I feel like pros and cons is the way to go here. The Pros: The people that get you in the door and seat you got that job down to a science, they make it quick and painless! The French fries were actually pretty good. Crispy exterior and soft inside. I could just sit there and eat a bowl of just fries (next time!). My friend got the nachos and sliders and he said they were good, nothing to write home about. The chicken sandwich was better than anticipated but the bread got soggy extremely fast, and the pesto wasn't super flavorful. I went for Bob the Drag Queen and bob was PHENOMENAL! Best show ever. Please come back to Pittsburgh! I am always down for Drag Queen Comedy! If I was rating on the comedy, it would be 5 stars for Bob the drag queen. The Cons: I didn't realize they just seat random people with you if you don't fill up your own table of 4. It's a little weird if it's your first time and you weren't prepared. Not a huge con but still a heads up would have been nice. I ordered the Spicy Cucumber drink, and it was just meh at best. I give it a meh because at least there is booze it in. It was weird because it said it has Serrano peppers in it, mine came with pickled jalapeno (which was an extremely weird alternative for my sense of smell). I wasn't a fan of that. Cucumbers were old (you can tell when they have that weird clear layer). I would have ordered another drink if the waitress paid any attention to us at all. She was hyper focused on the bigger groups and paid no attention to us at all. Whatever, it saved me money in the end. I ordered the brownie-salted caramel mason jar. There was zero brownie and zero toffee/caramel. It was such a letdown. I don't know, it was really a mixed bag, and I am sure it can go either way in a comedy club and as you can see from my review, that's how it went for me. Mixed bag. Will be back for comedy. I ordered tickets to the Jon Lovitz show in November 2023 about five months in advance online. I never received any confirmation email. I contacted them a couple of weeks before the show. They claimed that they did not receive my reservation and then mysteriously found it a few days later. Then, they claimed that they would re-send their email confirmation twice, and I never received either message. They still charged my credit card and would not remove the charge. Enjoyed this place before AND after the renovation recently . Have been here a few different times from seeing big to small time comedians . Loved every experience . The only downfall is the absurd pricing on food and beverages. The portions are small and overpriced , the markup on alcohol is outrageous. So frustrating whenever youre paying $30-40 to even enter the place to see a decent comedian . I recently came here for the first time to see Andrew Schultz and it was a wonderful enough experience to make me want to come back. The timing on the ordering and arrival of food and drinks was almost perfect. Drinks came while the opening act was on. Food came just at the start of the the main act. The loaded fries were surprisingly delicious. I'll be honest that I didn't have high expectations for the food, but it was good. The only thing I was annoyed with was the wait outside for who knows what. The show was supposed to start at 10pm and we stood outside in the cold far past 10:30pm. Once the doors opened, the line moved rather quickly. We didn't get there the earliest and we still ended up with good seats three rows from the back. I'm trying to see KevOnStage coming up in March so we'll see how that experience goes. read more

A great place to see stand-up comedy! Came here on a Sunday night to see Bret Ernst and it was about half full of people at tables when I arrived 30 minutes before showtime. The tables are set up around the front of the stage so it feels very intimate and the comedians are right at your level and able to interact with the audience. Sound and lighting is great so you can hear every word and don't have bright lights shining in your face all night. They have a 2 order minimum per person so be prepared to pay on top of your ticket price. I ordered a Blue Moon draft and a Brownie Salted Caramel mason jar dessert. The beer was cold and refreshing, not foamy and came with a fresh orange slice. The mason jar dessert was disappointing. It was mainly whipped cream with a few small scoops of chocolate pudding at the bottom. I didn't taste any brownie pieces or caramel really. Definitely not worth $8. The comedians are hilarious, including the MC of the place, which is the important part. Recommend eating dinner somewhere else before a show for better quality food and save money. But you'll definitely get plenty of laughs here! read more

This review is complicated. We bought tickets to a show months ago, and it was rescheduled twice during the chaos of COVID. They were meet and greet VIP tickets, but when the comedian changed plans and the meet and greet was cancelled, we were given a $15 food/drink voucher on each ticket. When we arrived to the show, we were told they were "pretty full for the night" and the tables for VIP ticket holders would have to be shared between customers who don't know each other. We weren't thrilled that we spent all that money and then had to share the experience with people we'd never met, especially in the middle of a pandemic. Only two tables ended up having to share like this, which we didn't think was fair, either. Next time I think we'd either get a group of 4 to go with us or get a booth reserved. I'd also recommend just doing appetizers if you go to a show here -- we paid $18 for chicken Caesar salad that was very small and the honey barbecue boneless wings were just okay. Soft drinks are $6 without free refills, so we paid $7 more for each drink to get refills and a souvenir glass. Next time I don't think I'd splurge for that extra. The food and table sharing were truly the only complaints we had -- the show itself was awesome and the venue is really neat. read more

We were a bit disappointed by our last visit. The comedian was great. But everything is so incredibly overpriced and mediocre. We ordered the nachos and buffalo cauliflower. Neither were above average. The nachos had an over abundance seasoning on the chips and the chicken on top was luke warm. Everyone's drinks were good and well mixed but so overpriced. A decent glass of wine was $14. Our waitress was the best we've ever had there. I wish I remembered her name. Often times at the Improv, you wait for drinks, food and the check but she was on top of everything and extremely friendly. We'll be back. We love seeing comedians. But it will be a while before we make another trip. Two tickets to the show came to nearly $50. Our food bill came to $120. The renovation is great there but the prices are a bit too high. read more
