We caught a show at Pittsburgh Improv and overall had an entertaining night--mostly thanks to the talent on stage. The lobby is small but packed with photos and memorabilia, which is a fun touch while you're waiting. Inside, the auditorium is spacious with solid sightlines--nice views of the stage from most seats. However the show started late - well over an hour. The doors opened behind schedule so everyone ended up waiting outside in the snow MUCH longer than expected. Also worth noting, there was only one exit door after the show, which made leaving take forever. Strong start--drinks came out quickly and the staff was friendly. That momentum didn't quite last. We asked for water twice and never received it... and to add a little comedy of its own, we watched our server deliver two waters to people who hadn't ordered them ‍. Godfrey was the highlight of the night and absolutely crushed it. Had the crowd in tears from start to finish and his Trump impersonation might be the best I've heard yet--spot-on and hysterical. Would return for the right comedian. But I'd most likely catch them at another venue. Do better, improv.

    Getting comfortable before the show.

I visited this comedy club for the first time earlier this month. I loved it so much that I booked tickets for another show next month. That probably says it all BUT, here are some other deets: Pittsburgh Improv is located in the Waterfront, which means it's easy to find parking within walking distance of the venue. The lobby space where tickets are scanned is pretty small; this wasn't a problem on a lovely summer evening, but standing in a line that stretched outside probably wouldn't have been as fun in December. The check-in process moved along quickly at least. Fortunately the actual performance area and the seating setup are very spacious (and there's a kitchen operating in there too!). Everything is clean and organized, and the wait staff were all super nice and attentive during the night. My waitress checked on me regularly, and I also overheard an order being corrected at a table next to me; the staff apologized for mishearing someone's order and immediately headed back to fix it. I think we all felt welcomed and it made it easy to relax and enjoy the show (we saw Ashley Gavin). Food and drinks are expensive here, so go in prepared to fulfill their two-item minimum. My items were delicious though - I got a 1963 Old Fashioned and mozzarella sticks. Honestly the mozzarella sticks were some of the best I've ever had; I was tempted to order a second round! TBD if I get them again or if I try something else next month...because like I said: I had a great time and I'm already scheduled to go back!

Good- Cute venue, good food, decent prices Bad- have metal detectors available, do not have only TWO employees scanning individuals. Our show started an hr & a half late because of this. Completely ridiculous.

    Tonight at the IMPROV!!

I loved how small the facility was because I was able to see the comedy . The history on the walls added an amazing vibe as you enter the building . I will definitely be on the look out for other shows at this location .

I really enjoyed the Lissow show !! The venue is small and a sold out show is cramped. I don't like having to sit at a table with other people, but I guess it gets more people into the show. It's a two item food minimum per person on top of the theater ticket. The food is really good I can't complain. The desserts were ok at best. The pretzel sticks and the mozzarella sticks were great. I'm not sure I would do this again give it a try the comedian was really good. Maybe only to see Jamie Lissow again.

No photos are allowed during the show so unfortunately was not able to take any pictures inside the venue. Arnez J was the headliner. Great show however, we don't like the seating as they are first come first serve and you can be seated with strangers if you don't have enough in your party. We were seated in the back in booths and it was very hard to see the artist on stage.

Great place. The food was tasty and just comedy club priced. The way it organized for seating was really done well. Great job staff. The sound system was clear and at a good level. 5 Starz for this place. Food, service, and the headliner and supporting cast to him this weekend. Perfect night out after bowling

We saw Tammy Pescatelli with openers Collin Chamberlin and Ray Zawodni (both Pittsburgh dudes, dope!) the night before New Year's Eve, and they all knocked it out of the park. We have seen a few other shows at the improv but this was hands down my favorite. Jordan was our server and she was attentive but not in the way. Kept our drinks full and was nice. The show was hilarious. I haven't laughed so hard in a long time. The 9:45 (actually like 10:20) show is a lot different than the 7 show. At 7, you walk in at doors, and there is rarely a line. The late show, you have to wait outside until they clear an clean from the previous show. Don't be dumb. Bring a coat if it's wintertime cuz your gonna stand outside for a while. Also remember, 2 item minimum at all shows. This can be a beer and cheese sticks, like what I did, or 2 drinks or 2 foods or whatever your fancy is. We have tried a few different items each time we go and they aren't anything to write home about, but good in the "bar food" class. We can't wait to go back! Happy Laughing.

Great place, very friendly staff. Nice seeing national touring comics with Pittsburgh locals sprinkled in.

Small, intimate venture that seats 1,045 people. According to the website, it was built in 1898 and…read more"has barely changed since it's original structure." That was very apparent to me when we were seated. The seats are wooden - no cushion - and look like they were built in the early 1900s. My sister and I came to see a comedy show and we were so excited about purchasing good seats in the first row of the balcony. However, my sister's chair was completely broke! She couldn't sit back on it at all. We were so disappointed. When we brought it to the theater's attention, it appeared they already knew and shrugged it off. They offered us other seats that were so much worse of a view so we declined. Other things to know about this venue - there is NO parking. No lot or parking garage. Street parking only in the residential area of Munhall. They had a make shift concession stand that took cash only. I got a water and ginger ale for $7 - insanely expensive. They also had a "bar" aka a table that sold barefoot wine, white claws, and cheap beer at a high price. To end this review on a more positive a note, it is nice to see artists in an intimate setting like this (size wise). But I would highly recommend to the business to invest in renovations.

Definitely big enough for a large group of tables, but close enough to the stage that you never feel like you have a bad seat in the house. The menu includes themed drinks and a range of food choices which you can order prior to showtime. The staff is friendly and attentive to the tables through the first part of the show. The show itself was exciting and tongue in cheek at times. The Altar Boyz brought energy and comedy to the room and kept everyone engaged - even bringing up an audience member for one of the numbers! Great reminder for me to never sit in the front! Haha I can't wait to come back to see another show soon! Thanks to Rachel and the CLO for another great event!

I can't say enough about the show we saw, Judge Jackie Justice. I would go see this show again in the future it was that good and the CLO seemed to accommodate the backdrop for the show perfectly. The staff seemed very professional but also extremely on the slow side. We ordered some drinks right when we got there and we were 30 minutes early for the show. Well the drinks showed up about two minutes before the show and not all at the same time. I got mine while my H was still waiting for his. 30 minutes is really excessive to wait for a drink, and they weren't cheap so please don't make me wait so long to wet my whistle. Continued with the slower service the waiters waited until the end to hand out checks. I guess this was ok, but it seems like they should have handed those out 15-20 minutes before the show was over so people could square up and leave when the show was over, not wait for 15-20 minutes more to give your check with payment to the server so they can charge you. We thought we could go out to the bar and pay there. Well we were wrong. I actually ended up ordering another drink finished it and paid for that one at the bar before our waiter came to collect our tab. I think in the future my best bet maybe to just pay cash or order at the bar to begin with. Otherwise loved the place and look forward to coming back to see another great show!
