Avoid this restaurant. They make mistakes constantly on togo orders. On day one, I had ordered a bread pudding and paying for it. After waiting 30 minutes for it, they decide to come out and tell me that they are out of bread pudding. It would've been beneficial to know that prior to paying, however, they did not even offer a refund. Instead, they told me they would give me a tiramisu instead. On day two, I placed an order for a salad with a chicken skewer upcharge. Upon getting my order and opening the container, I saw that the skewer was not in there despite being charged $10 for it. The other items here at the restaurant were not good, and I do not recommend this as they don't want to make good quality food. Lobster ravioli is pretty dry and tough to chew. Tiramisu is missing that earthy coffee flavor. Chicken caprese says that it comes with fresh mozzarella, however, they only gave us small circle of cheese on one side of the sandwich (covers about 1/4 of the sandwich). Do not get the truffle fries, they are the exact same taste as the normal fries. Last, the crab and shrimp dip is highly inconsistent. The first day, it was good and actually had pieces of shrimp. The second day, zero shrimp. In the end, this restaurant has several deficiencies that they do not seem willing to resolve. read more

The venue itself is a beautiful space and the show I watched was beyond incredible. But the price they charge for food and wine and how everyone is packed in the showroom is ridiculous. There is a large parking lot behind the venue and a parking garage across the street. It was easy to access and park, but I wish it wasn't quite as expensive as it is for weeknight parking (I think I ended up paying around $15 because it based on the amount of time you are there). When you arrive, there is a spot you line up to get seated in the performance space. I arrived about a half hour before the show and there were probably ten parties ahead of me. They did keep the line moving. I was unpleasantly surprised when I was brought to my seat. The tables were uncomfortably close together. Like the back of my chair was touching the person at the next table close. I understand they are a venue wanting to make money, but I would be more inclined to go back to a show if they took out one row of tables and allowed everyone just a little more space. The chairs had these little cushions on them but they slid around, so I'm not sure how much they added to the actual comfort. I was fairly close to the front, but without any platform or slanted floor, I imagine it could be difficult If you attend a show, there is a two item minimum per person. I suppose you could get a diet pepsi and some sort of appetizer, but the cheapest "small plate" is $18. My cheeseburger was $27 and when I asked for extra ketchup, I was charged an extra dollar for it. The glass of wine I ordered was $18. It was $65 if I wanted a bottle. But the same bottle was sold for around $40 if I were to buy it from the bottle shop. So with the two item policy, you are going to spend at least $20 minimum. If you want any "real" food it will be at least $40. I wish they had some options that weren't so overpriced. That being said, the waitstaff was courteous and efficient. They perfectly maneuvered around the tight tables and did their best to not block the view of the performance while visiting their tables. I did notice they tried to upsell. I'm not sure if it was intentional, but my burger came with regular fries but they asked "would you like regular fries, truffle fries, regular salad or Caesar salad" not stating that the truffle fries and Caesar salad were up charges. The table next to me complained about that when they got their check at the end of the night. I really loved the show I went to, but this isn't a venue that I'm eager to go back to. read more

Tried City Winery for the first time. We ended up here because everywhere else was packed, and luckily this spot wasn't. There wasn't an event going on that night, so it was pretty calm. The menu was limited and honestly a bit pricey for the type of place and portion sizes. The craziest part was that our entrées came out before our appetizer (just fries). It took so long for the fries that we had already finished our meals by the time they finally came out. Overall, I'd say it was just okay. I'm not sure I'd come back just for dinner, but maybe I'd give it another try during an event to see if the vibe makes more of a difference. read more

Fun spot right in the Strip. We enjoyed the wine flights that were really well done. Also had a really nice charcuterie tray. All the wines are pretty affordably priced and are sourced from top wine regions. Service was very attentive and knowledgeable. Always had a good experience here seen many concerts here but this last Tuesday we went for a show and was not impressed with the staff. We were seated and in the right seats and ordered are food and it arrived to us and was very tasty a bit over priced, but you must order two items off menu for show tickets now, before it was $25 pp now it is 2 items off menu. We watched as many people was either seat down in wrong seats or stopped and told I must check with another staff to see where to seat them, one group of 4 was standing for quick a while and finally told staff we will be at bar come get us when you figure out where we seat. Another table people already had there food and was eating when staff came and told them they were seated in the wrong seats and was told to move the guest had to move and also move all there food items thereself with no help from staff and no apologizes. When we watched multiple time food runners not knowing what atble to deliver food too and going to wrong tables. The venue was not full only about a quarter full I would really hate to see it when it is full because the staff they had working the night we were there was not good at all. Was very disappointing to see these thing happening at such a great venue I had never seen such a small crowd at this event but with the changing of that you must order 2 items now and not a very well trained staff I can surely see why not that many people there. My friend and I saw a Fleetwood Mac tribute band here tonight. Band was excellent and we enjoyed the music. However, will not return due to the seating arrangements which deterred from our enjoyment of the show. You literally have more space in a row of economy airline seats. Tables and uncomfortable chairs are packed so tightly you cannot move. The lady at the next table was practically sitting in my friend's lap. A table that would seat 2 people somewhat comfortably (plus all the plates, glasses and wine and silverware) are arranged to seat 4. Be forewarned that you will be sitting at the same table elbow to elbow with other parties you do not know . The couple at our table was very nice but it was a bit awkward. There is no room to put your purse, feet, legs, etc. You are packed in like sardines and the whole room is so tight I do not understand how they are in compliance with fire and safety codes. If they were to remove some tables it would make for a much more pleasant experience. Venue is not at all comfortable- avoid!!! read more

Went with my friends for Hannah Montana Trivia night -- it was a great time! The trivia host had a great personality and the questions were good!! Although the ticket is cheap they do ask everyone to purchase at least 2 things off the menu. I was the dd so stuck with the wine flight and a prosciutto burger. The burger was SO GOOD. I enjoyed my wine flight and it was the perfect amount for a DD. Also a great place to split a bottle of wine with someone. The room we had the trivia in was nice -- just a little cramped but no big deal. Our waiter was very attentive. I went here for a comedy show and it was my first time since they opened. The doors opened around 9:30 and there was a line. Checking in was actually very easy and I appreciated the fact that we had balcony seats because it was the perfect vantage point to watch the show and not be crushed by other people. For the comedy show there was a $25 minimum but that included food and drinks. And with the menu prices it was basically one thing on the menu and got you to that price point. But now that I'm thinking about it, some of their sides would have been a side and a drink. But any of the larger dishes would have taken you to the price point by itself. I got a red blend that was pretty good. Not my favorite but not awful. I would like to try the flight the next time that I'm there to really see which one I would enjoy the best. We also ordered the flatbread, some truffle fries and the wings. The wings are not crispy wings but they were still good. The flavor was nice. The truffle fries were thinner, shoestring fries and then had the cheese chunks all through it. I could have gone with a little bit more ketchup but I did like that they had ketchup and ranch on the plate. My favorite was the flatbread because we got the hot honey and it was delicious. Our group of five purchased tickets to see a show. The seats we selected were at a table set for 8 and we sat with a party of 3. The tables can be shared, are way too small, and too close together. I was constantly bumped into as people and servers were desperately trying to maneuver around quickly. And I made a significant effort the whole evening not to inadvertently bump into the stranger seated next to me. While I enjoyed my small plate, the cost was ridiculously overpriced compared to ingredient quality. I considered it concession pricing and only ordered something since my friends were eating. The doors opened an hour before the start of the show and may be because we ordered 30 minutes before showtime, our small plates were delivered surprisingly quick after we ordered. Our server, Craig was an excellent server replenishing our orders of ice and cold drinks repeatedly as the air conditioning wasn't working on an oppressively muggy evening. The timing of his return to close our tap was impeccable. Mainly because of the table seating arrangement atmosphere, I doubt I will return to the venue despite its interesting schedule of entertainment. Never got served again until it was time to pay up, at which point I had been eager to leave. My friends and I came here for a Drag Bingo night a couple months ago and now we come every few weeks to attend their events ! The guests that entertain, whether it be drag queens - comedians - musicians , are all absolutely amazing. Service is usually pretty on point especially considering how packed and busy they get for their events . Go early so you can eat and drink before the shows! The food is wonderful, we have ordered their tuna poke bowl, hanger steak , avocado toast , hummus, truffle fries and burger sliders - ALL delicious ! Perfect sizes to either eat on your own or share with friends . We also ordered the charcuterie board but honestly was not impressed. The atmosphere is simple but very nice to where you feel like you're in a decently classy place . My only complaint is the room you get at the actual table (let me note - I have only sat in their event /show room). My friends and I actually stopped ordering food and drinks because of the lack of space you get infront of you at the table . Been here a few times for events. First time actually coming just to enjoy dinner. Food was fair. Nothing that leaves you coming back. We did have the salmon and the Rigatoni. Both were good. There was a special desert we tried that was also pretty good. I will include that the menu they provide you during an event is different from just going to have dinner. Less options at the events. Service was great, waitress was very friendly. We went on a Tuesday evening and not much of a crowd. The venue itself has a warm ambiance. Not too big. Dim lights. Intimate settings. I visited City Winery for the first time earlier this month, when a comedian I like performed here. The show itself was great, and the Winery was a pretty solid venue, too. Disclaimer: I visited on a Tuesday, and I don't think I would ever try to come here on a busier evening than that. Even on a Tuesday I had to park one street over, since parking on Smallman is such a pain in the butt now. So if you're visiting on a day later in the week or over the weekend, don't forget to give yourself time to park and walk over. There's outdoor seating here that I would have taken advantage of if I was just stopping in; but since I was attending a show I had an assigned seat in the venue's performance space. It's a large room filled with tables from front to back, plus some balcony seating. I could tell there were windows up top, but they were covered enough to prevent the daylight/sunset from disrupting the indoor ambiance. Now that I've seen the space, I'd get balcony tickets in the future. Because of how the tables are arranged - and because the lower level is entirely, well, level - if a tall person or two has a seat in front of you, tough luck: your view of the stage is ruined. I definitely played the "peek around their heads" game throughout the night when I attended. There's also a bar in this event space, and to their credit, they were wonderful throughout the night. I forgot they were right there a few times during the show, so you better believe I tipped them well. Running a bar and not regularly disrupting a show takes skill! They also timed their "last call" perfectly and started bringing checks to tables with plenty of time for people to pay before the show ended. The only thing that bummed me out about my visit was the menu prices. This is the kind of place where ordering one appetizer and one drink can get you a $25 bill at minimum. And I wish the food portions were larger given the prices. Oh well. Drinks and food alike were still very tasty. On another night I would have had two drinks and ordered a full dinner; but in the interest of not overdoing it late on a work night, I stuck to one appetizer (mushroom risotto balls) and one drink (a Blackberry Bourbon Smash). Final thoughts: it was a good first visit all around; I'd definitely come back; and now I know how to make the next visit even better. read more

In the touristy area of the Strip District lies this poor excuse for a wine bar. We walked in and sat down at the bar, which was not busy. There were only two other groups there. It was nearly 5 minutes before we were even greeted. The bartender continued to act as if she was bothered by our presence. We stayed and ordered a flight of red and a flight of white. Bartender didn't know much at all about the wines, which were overall not very good. Once the flights were delivered, we got zero further from the Bartender. She didn't once ask us if we enjoyed the wine, not once if we needed anything, not once. We soon realized it wasnt going to get better so we quickly finished. When it was time for the bill, the barkeep seemed more interested in back and forth banter with coworkers. I was finally forced to raise my voice a bit to ask again for the check. This was some of the worst service I've ever witnessed. Don't go here. read more

Pretty great recent experience at City Winery for show! This was my first time seeing a performance there & was glad to read Yelp reviews before with assistance on where to buy my ticketed seat within the venue. I am really glad we bought balcony seats, it seemed less interrupted and obviously less crowded. If I was with a group, a table on the first level would be a nice option. The views and acoustics were great in the space! When you buy a show ticket, it acts as a dinner reservation for you prior to the show. We arrived 45 minutes prior to the show starting and it was a perfect amount of time to eat some small plates. We tried the lamb meatballs, cheese board, burrata, truffle fries, and kale Caesar salad. The truffle fries have definitely improved since I was there last which is a positive! The cheese board was super full and packed with great cheeses and accompaniments. The Caesar salad was just okay - the kale wasn't chopped up so it was kind of difficult to eat. The lamb meatballs were good but they were slightly warm - I couldn't tell if they had been warm and sat, or if they're supposed to be served cold? Either way, the temp was weird. The burrata and jam it is served with was delicious but definitely could use more pieces of bread. My wine was really good, of course, and my husband enjoyed his gin cocktail. I've been to City Winery Pittsburgh a few times now for events, all of which have been fun and entertaining. This was my 1st experience with the food there. They are running a special on flatbreads on Wednesdays for $6. Let me tell you all the flatbreads were phenomenal!! You could tell the dough is of good quality. The sauce is flavorful and the crunch is perfection. I loved that the sausage was ground in small pieces. The wine is really good too, particularly the Rose. The service I had tonight was prompt,friendly, and helpful. If you order one of their reusable wine bottles, you can save a few dollars when you bring it back on your next visit. I will have to drop by again to try more of the menu and maybe some cocktails next time! read more

We went to the Let's Sing Taylor ticketed event on Wednesday and were disappointed with both the event and City Winery itself. I'll break down my thoughts on each thing separately below. I will note, Let's Sing Taylor itself does not impact my rating of the venue (although it should since you would think City Winery would vet their shows a bit more carefully). For City Winery: - I went once before and wasn't impressed but wanted to give it another shot. We bought our tickets for the event online and got to choose our seats then which is nice. There was also a sale so our tickets were half off which is great. It was strange that they asked for our names at the door instead of scanning the QR codes on our virtual tickets but not a big deal. - We went inside the venue and all the tables and chairs were packed super close which was weird since the venue ended up being half empty throughout the night and also the room itself was pretty big. - Our main server was nice. I liked that they have handheld devices to take your orders and that you can pay on. - A random staff member cleared my friend's drink which was half full without asking her if she was done. I told our main server what happened and she got my friend a new one - her reaction made it seem like this was not an uncommon occurrence. - I got the kale salad with a chicken thigh skewer and it was pretty good. Unfortunately it did give me diarrhea halfway through the show. - I was overcharged by $1 on my items which truly isn't a big deal. I didn't bother to point it out since I really wanted to leave the show at the end of the night but as an FYI, double check your receipt! - Overall I want to like City Winery but unfortunately I can't recommend it. For Let's Sing Taylor - Unfortunately this had incredibly low production value which was disappointing. I think the only people who truly enjoyed the show were a handful of children and a couple of inebriated folks up on the balcony. The table next to us started chatting with us about what a let down the show was so it seemed that multiple people felt the same way we did. I'm surprised City Winery didn't do a better job of vetting their performers. - The band and singer themselves were not bad in my opinion (although others next to me would disagree). However, it was clear that very little effort was put into the show. The performer's wig looked highly unrealistic and very cheap. The outfits looked cheap as well. - The different outfits did not match up with the correct era. There was a point where the singer disappeared backstage for presumably another outfit change only to come out in the same outfit. At some point during an outfit change the band started playing Pink Pony Club and while I love that song, it didn't match the Taylor Swift theme. - The singer had minimal energy and stage presence on stage and one point many audience members were on their phones. - The graphics displayed didn't match the eras and at points included graphics made with AI (and perhaps clip art on Microsoft word?) which added to the cheap knockoff feel. - They kept asking the audience to make some noise and cheer during certain phrases which fell flat when the audience was mostly unenthused and half the room was empty. - At one point they asked who came last time they performed in Pittsburgh and one token audience member raised their hand. The singer then asked what song they wanted to hear from the debut Taylor Swift album. The audience member replied with "Tim McGraw" and the singer told him "how about Our Song instead" and proceeded to ignore his request. Why even bother to ask? It was a terribly awkward moment. - I had diarrhea from my food halfway through the show but wasn't upset about it because it gave me the excuse to leave the room. - Overall, Let's Sing Taylor (or Temu Taylor as I and multiple others called it) seemed like a low budget money grabbing experience and I would not recommend it. read more

Great venue to turn to for a wide variety of entertainment, and events. Beautiful interior. Staff members are helpful, professional and upbeat. Their set-up easily accommodates large groups or single guests. I recommend signing up for their newsletter since most shows sell out fast if you do not have advanced notice. I prefer balcony seating because the lower main floor has limited mobility. I feel bad for the servers trying to get to each guest. Also keep in mind you end up sharing tables with strangers since they try to fill each table seat vs the bar-like arrangement in the balcony. The one and only good thing about City Winery is the shows they host. I've been to a few now and they're always fun and entertaining but that speaks to the entertainment itself, not the venue. The food is HORRIBLE. The service is equally as bad. The drinks might as well be water for all the ice they put in the glass. I ordered a glass of rosé sangria. They were out of sangria. We ordered the cheese plate for the table which was described as having three cheeses. They were out one of the cheeses so they doubled up "the orange cheese" as we were told. When I asked what "the orange cheese" was, no one could tell me. The grapes on the plate were dirty. My sister wiped off dirt from each one, leaving her fingers dusty. The rest of the food was simply bad. The flatbread was tasteless, the hummus had so much tahini sauce poured all over the top that you couldn't taste hummus, the avocado toast was also tasteless and the bread was stale. Our drinks were so watered down, they tasted like nothing. Both my mimosa and peach Bellini were just juice. As I said above, I've been to City Winery a few times for the shows. The actual venue is so awful that I won't even consider another one. read more

I've been to City Winery for a couple shows, and it's always been a great time! It's nice to have your reserved seats/table and not to have to worry about fighting for a spot. The wine is great, and they also have other options like beer and cocktails, too. We got a few apps to share with the table, and everything was delicious. I highly recommend the Burrata! The servers are great and continued to check on us throughout the show. My only complaint is, depending on the show, they really have you packed in with no room to move. read more

I don't know if you order drinks and food in the bar area before the show if you have a better selection of wine, but as the only drinker in my party, I only had a light selection of glasses of wine that I could choose from I do wish that this was brought a bit, but perhaps maybe next time we'll just eat in the bar ahead of time. I was very excited to visit City Winery for a show since I'd previously been to their location in Nashville, and it did not disappoint! I went to a music/comedy show in the intimate venue, which has dinner seating. It was quite packed, but the service was great and we were able to get drinks frequently throughout the show. I highly recommend the Classic wine flight to try out some of their most popular selections! After the show, we stopped by the bar for one last drink (their Cabernet is delicious). Even though they closed at 10, which seemed really early for a Saturday night, the bartender was open to doing one last round. We had an amazing girls night at City Winery, they hosted an ugly Christmas sweater old school R&B sign along. (I know; a mouthful) It was a blast! Our server greeted us warmly and quickly. We ordered the Sauvignon Blanc for our wine selection. It was perfect. We also shared some apps and a pizza. We had the Burrata which was AMAZING! This was pretty ok... They have a nice patio area in the summer and let us bring our dog which was great but the wine... kind of nothing special and the food... definitely nothing special... Fun time with my friend, brunch and Billy. I have to say I am impressed the food. Been here twice and not disappointed . Had the eggs Benedict and home fries. Both were very good. My mimosa was delightful, but a little pricey. Ticket price was worth every minute, Billy always comes through, and the band was great. I am so happy we have the Winery bringing in talent. Need a wider menu for brunch. Wonderful venue for music, drinks, and a bite to eat, although they are still working out some of the kinks! read more
