I had a refreshing 500mL peroni outside while waiting for our table. The beet salad with humus would have been good but there was no dressing rendering it bare and bland. We ordered an American Romano and classic. The cheese, sauce and pepperoni were top shelf but the crust was a wee bit undercooked and forgettable. With an ultra thin crust you must make it crispy! On Friday night we visited this branch around 9:45pm. It was not busy. We sat outside as we saw menus on the tables and customers eating at one of their tables. We waited for 15 minutes ish. Two waiters came outside and ignored us. Then, I decided to go inside. We were told they were not serving outside, which seemed a bit strange to me, and we were offered a table inside. We ordered 3 Peronis and the waiter brought the large ones. I am a regular and I have also worked many years at Pizza Express, and I know either you offer your customers a choice or you bring the small ones. I asked the waiter to take one of the Peronis back because we did not need to drink so much. He argued that I did not order small ones. Then we ordered some food to start with. I was starving as I had finished work at 8pm; my pizza took 45 minutes to arrive. It was a Legera American Hot, which usually you serve with hot green peppers. It came with jalapeño, which are very strong for me at the moment as I am taking some medicines and I became sensitive to very hot food. I pointed this mistake to the waiter, who took the pizza back and put just some green peppers on top. I again had to ask him to please make a new one as I ordered. It took another 15 minutes to get the pizza I ordered. I was so disappointed. We had seen some customers been served before us, even though they came to the restaurant after us. He even did the checkback to other customers but never to us. I talked to the manager who did not seem to care much, and just said the she will investigate it. She could have investigate it at that moment... Of course, we did not order anything else after this incident and we left the restaurant with a feeling of frustration and disappointment after your low and appalling service. read more

OK, it's a chain, the kind of place I usually avoid at all costs but if I happen to find myself in St. Christopher's place and can't face the attitude that often comes with dining at nearby Carluccio's I'm more than partial to a little Pizza Express. Specialising in pizza, pasta and some pretty great salads, Pizza Express is as reliable as the most boring bloke and as characterless as the Holiday Inn but the standard of its food is great. I usually order a salad for around £8.00, the Chicken Caesar with fresh grilled chicken and doughy bread on the side is especially good and the Cannelloni is so rich and creamy I can barely make my way through it, which is an occurrence so rare it bears noting. If your criteria for a rocking restaurant include uniqueness or any brand of cool, it's probably advisable you steer well clear of Pizza Express. If, however, you appreciate some good, consistent Italian food, you can't go too far wrong with Pizza Express. read more

While the menu is identical no matter which branch of Pizza Express you visit, the interior differs slightly. There are always some black and white stripes and photographs to be found, but they try and match these with the immediat surroundings. St Christopher's Place is all about shopping with Selfridges just around the corner, so here the photos are retro fashion shots. Pizza is the ultimate fast food and if you talk too much the dough tends to be cold half way through eating your order. Nice then, that the staff didn't rush us, and we enjoyed a relaxed mid-week lunch. They often have tempting discounts and overall offer good value. I hardly ever order anything else than the Venetiana - just works for me, comfort food without too much guilt. There were a few glitches on this visit in that the coffee was cold on arrival, the double espresso tiny and the cappuccino too milky. Oh well, all was forgiven when we had a good laugh with one of the waiters - the human touch is still more important than perfection. read more

I have loved Pizza Express for many years and I think that this is really good location although they are not as generous with the salad toppings, as they are, in lets say Mill Hill. I always order my favourite pizza Veneziana and I get some garlic and chili oil on the side. You also can't go wrong with the garlic balls. You can sometimes almost hear the Jazz club downstairs but you have to pay extra for Jazz and PIzza. The service can be slow on Jazz nights. read more

The manager outright refused this stating they needed these tables for other customers. Restaurant was half full and it was late in the evening - not crowded. I ate at a Pizza Express in July 2002. Going back to London in May/June 2013 I still remembered Pizza Express. Fantastic pizza, good beer selection, and tasty desserts. Staff was attentive, and the restaurant is both trendy/busy, yet intimate/casual. My husband loved their pepperoni pizza...so much so we ate here twice, took take-away once, and ordered an extra pizza to take with us to eat for breakfast. Yes, it is that good. This is a place where I usually end up if I am along with friends and everyone has their own preferences and we can't agree where to go. Well in the end every one likes pizza. Pizza Express is always a safe choice and it is slightly, just slightly more upscale (fast food) restaurant so stead of having just coke in a paper mug you can enjoy a glass of wine ( or coke in a glass), candle lit in the evenings and nice relaxing atmosphere. Even though the chain is strongly specialized on pizzas, for some reason I don't find those that special. To be honest I think the they are small sized and often missing taste and fillings.. However they do good salads, so good that my friend recently confessed printing out their menu from the websites and trying to create the same dishes at home from the same ingredients. As far as chain restaurants go, Pizza Express is probably the best you can find anywhere - especially for Pizza places! I always love coming here when I'm in London as they offer predictably decent food and good service. They also serve wine which is unique for this type of chain restaurant. They have a great pizza menu as well as lots of pasta and salad options. If you're looking for a quick but relatively nice meal then Pizza Express is always a safe bet. read more

Worst service ever! We sat down, waved a waiter. Wait for 10 minutes. Nobody served us. So I was about to get on a bus to Stansted and decided I had about 40 minutes to eat and not wanting McDonald's I decided to check out the London attraction of Pizza Express. Knowing I would probably dislike it, I went it with an open mind. I had the 'Sloppy Giuseppe' and have definitely experienced much better pizza while in London, however I can understand why some people might enjoy them.
