Plain menu, good food…read more We went with some friends last night and we all decided to eat here since we hadn't ate at Ruby's for quite some time. Upon entering the establishment, I felt like we were walking inside a walk-in cooler. Let me tell you it was cold! The biggest complaint I have with this restaurant is the plain menu. To be honest, there really isn't much to choose from. You have chicken, seafood, ribs, steak, pasta or burgers. That might sound like quite a bit, but it is just the same thing cooked various ways. The seafood is essentially tilapia or white fish(both very cheap to buy) or shrimp. Bad selections in my book, especially for the price(median of 14.99). Two rip-offs here. If you choose to get the pasta, or the ribs...you have to pay for the salad bar, which is 2.99 extra. Every other dinner dish comes with the salad bar. The other rip-off is the price of drinks. I ordered tea, and my wife ordered a soda...both were 2.99. Big rip-off. The cheddar biscuits are pretty much a joke..very very small, but not too bad I suppose if they are hot when you receive them. Now the good...I ordered a petite sirloin medium rare, and it was cooked well and tasted good. I was impressed with the quality of the steak. The salad bar was up to par, fresh, and chilled good. There was a decent variety on the salad bar as well. Our server was very attentive, very professional and ran his tables well. The hostess was great, she opened the door for us coming in and going out. Very professional. The overall cleanliness of the restaurant was great and the atmosphere was par. No complaints here at all. I'm giving this a 3/5 for great service and tasty food. It could have been more, but I don't ever expect it to come to that, since this is a chain restaurant. What it is is- just that; a chain restaurant..so don't expect too much, although West Plains is one of the better ones I have eaten at.

The place moved slower than a turtle dragging a refrigerator uphill. By the time I got my meal, I felt like I had aged three years. The food looked like it lost a fight before it even made it to the table. I took one bite and my taste buds started filing complaints. The fries were so sad they looked like they needed a motivational speaker. The burger was drier than a history textbook left in the desert. The whole experience felt like somebody asked, "How can we make mediocrity a business model?" and then built a restaurant around it. If disappointment had a headquarters, this place would be applying for the franchise rights. I came in expecting dinner and left with trust issues. My wallet got robbed harder than my appetite. The only thing that arrived hot was my frustration. One star. I'd rather eat gas station crackers while sitting in a parking lot than repeat this experience.

Our food took a while to show up BUT our server, Matthew was amazing! He made sure we got our appetizers and bread to hold us off until our main entrees showed. He very friendly and personable, even with all of the chaos going on. Once we got our food we were very pleased. It tasted AMAZING and the steaks were cooked exactly how we had requested. With the good food and amazing service by Matt, I'm not even upset that we had to wait. Well worth it!
