Came by after looking at the reviews and having a lot of free time before getting back on my cruise. Place is basic from the outside but comfortable and vibrant on the inside. There is covered "outside" seating and inside seating. I was able to order from staff in English. I chose their popular margherita and asked for a one person portion. This place charges by weight not pan size or by the slice. Pizza came out timely and at the right temperature. It was very tasty. Better than my favorite from-NY pizza (not generic NY style pizza outside of NY)? Very simple with no meat toppings but very tasty. Crust was excellent. Would it taste better with some meat toppings? Great pizza and they speak a little bit of English. If I'm ever in the city I'd be coming back to have this pizza again. The pizza does take a bit to cook since they use a pizza oven but well worth it. There's outside seating cafeteria style since the inside is pretty small. read more

The woman who runs the counter and barks out the orders to the girl cutting EVERY pizza is a grade-A asshole with a personality so abrasive, it makes you want to smack the shit out of her. That being said, the pizzas that are made at Del Ghetto are some of the tastiest pizzas I have ever had. The sauce is perfect. The cheese to sauce to crust ratio dead-on. The crust is perfectly crisp. Sooooo good, the flavor stays with you forever. Pizza is sold by weight, not by the slice or whole pie. Half a pie is enough for 2-3 hungry people. Highly recommend. A hidden gem offering wood fired pizzas since 1954, I was taken by a local, a friend of an Italian cousin who'd gone here since high school. They cut their pizzas with large scissors and they only sell two pizzas flavors; Margherita or Marinara. We ordered half of each on one pizza, plus beers. The pizza tasted great and had crust you actually wanted to eat for it's great taste. The marinara includes anchovies but it's a subtle flavor. Both toppings tasted really good. The pizza was large enough for four but probably would've served six people comfortably. read more

Found this pizza place with the other tourists and cant beat the funny name. What a treat and a great find. We got there and looks like a one man show behind the counter. We got our drinks and sat outside. Ordered Margherita Pizza and it was outstanding. The guy was real nice and friendly to tourists and we waited for our piping hot pizza. Wish i could have brought it back to our cruise ship. What a feast. It hit the spot and my stomach was happy. Highly recommend if in the area waiting for your cruise ship. I'm definitely recommending this place because they are not like all the rest of the general pizzeria/gelato restaurants in that area. Four of us split a huge pizza, half with cheese, and half without (anchovy base). I don't know what they put on this thing, but it was salty, cheesy, garlicky and packed with flavor. Pizzeria del Ghetto serves fresh, made to order pizza pies off of a small piazza in Civitavecchia. They really only do two kinds of pizza - Margherita and Marinara. While both are red sauce and cheese pizzas, the marinara is made with oregano scented marinara sauce, while the margherita is graced by tomato sauce, mozzarella, and fresh basil. We ordered the Marinara and were advised that for three adults, we would need a 2/3rd pie. By some wizardry, the chef actually just filled the pizza pan with 2/3rds of a pie, omitting a wedge for our invisible extra person. After about 10 or 15 minutes, the pizza was delivered hot to our table, served on a big paper placemat with extra paper to serves as individual plates. It was scalding, hot out of the oven, burn the top of your mouth, fresh out of the oven. After a few minutes of waiting, we dug in and it was so tasty. And then we asked for chili flakes and oregano and there was no going back, this was an unbelievable pizza. They serves a half dozen kinds of beer and soda, and the menu includes a nutella pizza. Otherwise, there's very little to this tiny tasty gem. Seating is inside in a clean and cheery room, or out on the piazza with picnic style benches and umbrellas. There is a bathroom, and the piazza also has a fountain to wash your hands in. English is limited, but good enough for here. read more

Wow! As a foreigner I was afraid to try places while traveling in Italy. Boy am I glad we stumbled upon this spot! The pizza was to die for! The service was quick and easy. Our waitress was more than patient dealing with two Americans. We got a half pizza and split it with two styles. The sauce was to die for! Melt in your mouth cheese! We were staying at Hotel Traghetto and arrived in Civitivecchia around 5 PM after 29 hours of travel. Most restaurants were closed until 7:30 and we were too tired to stay up a few more hours to eat. Thankfully Pizzeria del Ghetto was open and although it was very small and informal, the pizza was good! They put some very different toppings on pizza than we do in California, but it was still good. People that worked there were very nice as well. Perfect place if you are staying near the cruise port and want a quick, inexpensive and easy meal! read more
