Sunday, 13 MAY 2012 - 14:00…read more Ristorante - Da Michelino SCHONFLIESSER STRASSE 80 Glienicke-Brandenburg 16548 GERMANY +4933 0564 26919 Setting: Mother's Day celebrating 2 mothers that day Group Size: 6 This restaraunt, was hidden away very good. It was hidden by a bowling alley, an Argentine Steak House with a very long line of customers and a small shopping center. Because my group drove to this location, there was plenty of free, public parking on their property. This place is way outside Berlin. My group, minus our vegetarian was looking at that Argentine Steak House first. But they had a very long line of customers and a very long line. By chance, we happened to see "the other" restaraunt. While not our original choice, it proved to be a GREAT CHOICE! We had the privilege and honor of dining at great restaraunt.... my own little hidden diamond in Germany. Da Michelino has table upstairs and downstairs, candles, clean white linen table cloths and napkins. Their silverware was clean and appeared to be polished. They had Italian music overhead from pop, folk and opera. I believe my meal was served to Luciano Pavarotti.... "Malinconia." That's pretty powerful for a meal ;) he he he We had a waiter, a server and the chef came out and talked with us. The owner of the restaraunt was tending bar and seeing to customers. This says..... I care about my restaraunt and my customers. I care about what my chefs will cook. I asked for Ginger Ale, and they brought me a bottle of Schweppes Ginger Ale! Real Ginger Ale, not some Sprite mixed with Coca Cola which alot of German restaraunts do thinking I won't know the difference. Ginger Ale is not popular in Germany as compared to other carbonated drinks. Everyone enjoyed their meals immensely. The fragrant aromas made you want to eat everyone elses food. Spaghetti Bambino, Salata Tonno Grana, Quattro Formaggio Pizza, Filet Griglia, Filet Michellino, Saltimbocca Romana. All of this plus wine, soda, spezi and Apfelschorle.... some German apple drink.... 74.40 EUROS / $ 91.67 USD For 6 people eating steaks, veal, pasta, pizza and alcohol....this was a great price for this wonderful feast STAFF: Very friendly, attentive without being overbearing. Bruschetta, fresh-warm bread with butter was brought to the table at least twice. They connected my Apple I Touch to their Wi-Fi network. This was very cool. I was showing everyone where we were via Google Earth. We could see the restaraunt from the roof and the parkling lot and everything else. FOOD: Very Good!!! This place would be an easy favorite for me. I can't travel to Brandenburg all of the time.... but for this place, it would be worth it. Filet Michellino is a New York Strip Steak with mushrooms, garlic and a savory sauce. I had a plate of plain Rigatoni with lite olive oil.... so I could enjoy the steak and have a pure palate. My steak was grilled just right. It was tender, easy to cut. It was cooked well, pink in the middle. Flavors were balanced, nothing over powering. It WAS NOT a steak that had meat tenderizer / or some other chemical that breaks meat down as to hide that it sucks / that it's as tough as an old leather boot. Some places that I have been to do this and think that some people won't know that they either kept their meat too long..... past expiration dates / safe to consume dates and / or that they bought very tough low quality, cheap priced meat..... emphasis on cheap. Just in case you're wondering.... you could have a romantic date here. It's quiet, non distracting, not a tourist trap corporate chain place. You could take a group of people here as well. I would recommend this place. If you reserve ahead, choose some wines in advance that reflect your tastes, your moods. I'm sure that whatever your occasion is you will be happily suprised and grateful as I am. Ciao Amici!!!! KEPI Kapa'a, Hawai'i

Yelp says this location is closed, but I just visited a few weeks ago- I think it's just an error…read moredue to the new name. It's now named "da Zia". Nice thin crispy pizza. They have tons of toppings with vegetarian and vegan options as well. They cook it to order, and they'll bring it out to you, whether you're seated inside or outside. I tried fungi & speck, potato & cotto, margherita, and all of them were really good. They cut the pizza into 3 strips, so you can get one smaller one per person and share to try each flavor!

I go here a lot for lunch, .. and dinner, and sometimes even for a late night snack. Usually I will get the zucchini and the funghi, but sometimes I mix up the latter. You see, this is where the brilliance of this over the top fabulous pizza joint comes in.. you order by slice (actually one slice is three slices... don't be confused), and they make the slice fresh for you there and then. No heating up, i.e. no soggy pizza. Instead you can expect fresh ingredients, and a thin crispy close to perfect crust - all served up on a wooden board. They change the interior about every month, or second month, or something like that.. each time a new artist, a new theme. It's a hit or miss kinda thing. Still, it's the pizza you come for, so who cares? At least it gives the place character. It can be rather busy at peak times, and in summer you are lucky if you can find a spot on the outdoor communal tables. The wait is totally worth it though. Why don't grab some wine from the barrel, or an italian soda, in the meanwhile? .. all the while anticipating your savory delight... ok, I so need to go there again tomorrow.
