I give the pizzas 3/5 stars, my family ordered a chicken pizza and margherita and both were kind of fine. The sauce was okay, the crust was okay, the chicken was okay. Not much more to say about it: As my brother commented, they "did the job," i.e. gave us energy in the form of carbs to brave a hot, touristy (but still beautiful!) day in Salzburg. The gnocchi al formaggio was better (4/5 stars), in a gorgonzola sauce and topped with toasted pine nuts. Kind of heavy on a hot day for lunch, but that was my own fault. If you like gorgonzola, you'll like it, probably. The service was really fast and the food came out quickly but the waiter basically forced me to pick an entree on the spot/picked one for me (Him: *sees me on gnocchi page of menu* Gnocchi? With cheese? Me: Uhh.....sure!") and did the same sort of thing with my dad. This worked out alright for us, but just be aware, you may need to be assertive. A quick search and 33 reviews on yelp with descriptive comments led me to this place. It was much better than the expectations after having visited Italy 2 weeks before. Aperol Spirits: perfect. Quattro formagio Pizza: best ever till date Salmon ravioli with saffron sauce: like a fine dine dish from a Michelin star chef. Spaghetti with Fish: quite tasty, much better than regular spaghetti I had in Italy. Tortellini with spinach and 5 Gorgonzola: Heavenly creamy and subtle spinach. It was screaming freshness. Vegetable Pizza: quite good no complaints. I had best one in Venice @Al Fontico. Lasagna Verdure: No complaints as it was quite good. Probably overshadowed by the other dishes. The best Restaurant to be in terms of good Italian food ! We tried 4 dishes -Quattro formagio Pizza, Salmon ravioli with saffron sauce, Spaghetti with Fish: Tortellini with spinach and 5 Gorgonzola, Vegetable Pizza- Everything was perfect ! The salmon melted in the mouth and had the perfect blend of flavours ! Went there for lunch at around 13:00. The restaurant was cozy and the food was just ok. What really made a lasting impression was how horribly rude and impatient the two servers were. An older man finally approached our table after waiting more than twenty minutes. We started by asking for cappuccinos. He told us they only had coffee and then he walked away before we had a chance to tell him the rest of our order. After another ten minutes, the other server finally came to our table and told us coffee was only served at breakfast (!!!) and that we had to order the full menu altogether (to save on time?). I would never recommend this restaurant based on service alone. read more

Picture this: You're American, trekking across Salzburg in the cold when it starts to rain. The sidewalk is slick and you don't have an umbrella. Then, like a mirage in the desert, you spot a Pizzeria glimmering (ok, maybe not "glimmering") in the distance. That was a scene from my life about an hour ago. We rush into the Pizzeria mainly to take shelter from the cold and maaaybe share a pizza. That is until I saw the menu. Holy pizole there were so many pasta dishes and entrees to choose from, I ditched the pizza idea. I opted for the salmon ravioli which is described on the menu as having a saffron sauce. My immature palette probably wouldn't appreciate saffron so I requested a tomato-base instead. The server happily obliged. Yay! (My husband had to unroll his eyes at my special request). The ravioli was good enough to lick my plate clean and I'm guessing the same for the lasagna since my husband almost actually licked his plate clean. We finished off with the profiteroles. Now I've had these before in the states but those couldn't hold a candle to these. Amazing. My one regret from the whole experience, was sharing my profiteroles. read more

Went here twice during our three night stay in Salzburg. The first night because it was pizza and only a half a block from our flat. The second because we had so much fun the previous night. Great pizza options at a reasonable prices. Wine and beer also very reasonable. But the best part was Ferdinand (the owner and waiter) and the guy making pizzas (his name starts with an A, but I can't remember it.).We sat at the two top table as soon as you walk in. This seat gives you a full view of all the pizzas being made. I loved this. I am Trying to master my home pizza dough skills and the kitchen guy was happy to share his technique and dough recipe. The second night, Monday, was rainy and quiet in the restaurant and we spent most of our time chatting with Ferdinand about traveling. Love connecting with the locals on our vacations. A small Italian joint next to the Modern Art museum. We read the yelp reviews and when we got into, it was late so this was one of the few spots open. Let's just say that it was so good, we had two meals here in the four days we were in town. The highlight was the chef's special, which was a spinach and gorgonzola tortellini and the asparagus soup. Both rich, creamy and delicious. The lasagna was perfectly cooked and had a refined taste not overpowered by the sauce. There were mostly locals both times, but a spattering of tourists, mostly Americans. The servers know enough English and on the second visit our waiter went out of our way to give us some tips on things to see. He strongly recommended the Red Bull museum, but unfortunate for us, we did not have enough time in a jammed packed schedule. The star dish of this place are the pizzas, of which there are about two dozen to choose from. I had a capricciosa which was amazing and hit the spot. It was too big to finish and that was the individual portion. They have a good wine menu and a small menu of beer. The meals averaged $60.00 US dollars with a starter, main and wine/beer. Great food, better prices and a location just off the main arteries of the tourist part of town. Only drawback is that the building is not well ventilated and the ovens make it about 10 degrees warmer than outside. Perfect on a chilly day, but probably overwhelming in summer. Well worth a try though, especially if you have young ones in the family. read more

My schnitzel with spaghetti was good. Personally, I like to have a little more sauce on my spaghetti, and the sauce on my spaghetti was more like cooked tomatoes, but it was good. My daughter got the fettuccine with mushrooms, and I really liked it. Wife got the lasagna, and it was very good also. We sat outside, on a cloudy Salzburg day, and it was very nice. I came back to Salzburg and I knew I had to visit Il Sole! I was very happy to see that the place hadn't changed much and the food was still absolutely wonderful! We sat outside on the patio and split a insalata mista and a salami pizza. If you like pepperoni, always order the salami pizza when you are in Europe. You don't be disappointed. Honestly the food was actually really good. My family only ordered pizzas but they were perfect. The dough was cooked to perfection, right amount of cheese and sause. The only reason why it is 4/5 is because my wife claims the mushrooms on her pizza were from a can and had absolutely no taste whatsoever, and the outside eating area seemed a bit dirty. This Restaurant is located in the very center of Salzburg's old city. It is rather small and provides a very basic but nice selection of Italian dishes. The pasta is nice, the meat dishes are all very heavy with cream sauces and heavy side dishes. the price is OK for the quality which is average. the desserts are all convenience products and not worth trying, apart from the ice-cream, where nothing can go wrong. read more

Came to Salzburg for 3 nights, the first night we ate here because it was closest to our apartment vacation home, it was so delicious we came back the last night as well.
