Almost hidden in the hillside neighborhood of Moltrasio, this spontaneous find was a lucky lunch!…read more Outside patio adorned quaintly with flower boxes and greenery. We dined inside ~ a touch of rustic old country; beautiful. The server saw that we were obviously tourists and struggled with the menu. She took the initiative and confidently proclaimed, "I pick, you eat!" with an Italian finger kiss! Our group roared together yes! Simply said ~ everything homemade, everything delicious, everyone eating to gluttony. Felt like your talented aunt cooking all your favorites and making sure you leave with food coma ;) Moltrasio marvelous.

Fantastic food, we had the oso buco with polenta, salami fresh, tagliatelle with boar, cannoli, and lasagne. All were excellent. Well seasoned, good portion size and hot and fresh. The lasagna was great, wonderful bechamela sauce. Canoloni with red sauce and cheese was baked to perfection and clearly hand-made. The service was very nice and helpful. Our broken Italian and her English was just fine. Toward the end of the meal, what I believe was the mother came out and asked how everything was. Tuto bene? (Is everything good?) She asked, we replied tuto molto, molto bene (everything was very, very good!) . She smiled and patted us on the shoulders as a thank you. We plan to return before leaving this area.

The staff was friendly and they place a nice table cloth on the table when you sit down. We ordered a small charcuterie board and another appetizer (I can't remember the name) and it was enough to fill 3 of us until dinner. I would recommend going up to Brunate for a snack at this restaurant if you are visiting Como or the Lake Como region!

There were tables with the lake view always available every time we stopped by during our two-night stay in Brunate. Pizza was cheap, they were all under 10 euro and I believe the margherita we ordered was 6 euro. We also got the assorted bruschetta for 5 euro which was delicious - I love how they serve bruschetta in Lake Como. The smoothies there were good, a bit watery but the flavor was great, but over-priced at 7 euro each. The beer my boyfriend got was also pricey around 8 euro for a bottle I believe. I had the tiramisu after our meal which was served in a cute, little jar, and it was honestly amazing. Creamy, smooth, and not too sweet. If you find yourself in Brunate and don't want to eat at one of the fancy, hotel restaurants, definitely grab a bite or drink here at the very least!

The most stunning cafe - your Italy trip is not complete without a visit here…read more The cafe is pretty tucked away from the bustle near the tram station. You have to walk ~15 minutes through a neighborhood and outlook point to get here (very pretty walk through a quiet street with villas that ends in a scenic view of the lake and Como). If you go during an off hour (we went around 4pm), it should be pretty quiet - it does pick up a lot more around meal times. Menu prices are affordable, especially considering the amazing views - just unmatched. The couple that runs the cafe is also super sweet and hardworking. We got a mocktail, gelato, and sorbet, and ended with some lasagna and pasta. I'd recommend the drinks and ice cream. Highly recommend you check this out!

This place is quaint, intimate, and has probably the best view of the lake ever. It was so fun taking the Funicular up to the top of the mountain and taking photos and just stopping IN AWE the whole route up there. The owner and his wife are so kind and hospitable. The food was unreal (we had the bruschetta, bolognese, and tiramisu) as was the wine. The music playing helped keep the ambiance romantic while the customer service made the experience unforgettable. My husband and I travelled here on our honeymoon and have said eating here was possibly one of the top 5 moments of our lives. I can't recommend it enough! Thank you Balcone Sul Lago!!!
