This is the remains of a allied assault on this important German weapons emplacement complete with concrete bunkers, an 88 mm howitzer and a smaller one. Closed on Mondays, but it was quiet and no crowd. Just no guided tours or access to the below ground concrete Blockhouses. A real piece of War history in plain sight. Must have been pretty loud in those round steel gun emplacements. See my pictures. I think I saw 6 total, 2 sizes. ..

After relentless Crepes, we decided to try an Italian restaurant on our vacation in Saint-Malo…read more What a delight this place turned out to be. It is located off the beaten path, so search it out. We had a delicious dinner sitting outside on a coolish night. The quiet street provided us with endless entertainment, especially the very young children "break-dancing" while their parents ate next door. Now to our meal...we each got salads as entrées. Each salad comes in a side or dinner size. The side salads were quite large. My husband loved his chef salad with gorgonzola toasts. He was moaning with delight. I loved my salad with a soft, squishy mozzarella and plenty of sun-dried tomatoes. The sauces were delicious. He ordered the Pasta Carbonara on tagliatella. The pastas come in 2 sizes as well--Caesar and Plutots. He got the larger Plutots even after the waitress warned him how much there was. She was right. Doggy-Bag time!! It was creamy, cheesy and loaded with ham/bacon. I ordered the fish of the day which was Cabillaud, my new favorite. It came smothered in a light, creamy pesto sauce with a small salad and a large helping of creamy, cheesy risotto on the side. Absolutely delish! We were too stuffed for dessert. Definitely plan on coming back here before we leave.

The bolognese was among the best I've had. Thick, rich tomatoey and meaty. A lot of it! The herb seasoning was thyme or oregano and super flavorful. Haven't enjoyed pasta like this anywhere in ages. My husband had the mushroom risotto which was yummy but I didn't care, loved my bolognese so much. Great find in St Malo!
