We didn't use a GC for our stair remodel, and thus I was finding subs myself, and I found Smith Metalworks. Chris/Marni were clear communicators throughout the process, letting me know what was realistic and where I'd need other subs (e.g., turning the stairs from an open to a closed stringer). Sometimes when subs primarily work with GCs (versus home owners) it can be intimidating and/or confusing. Not with Marni/Chris. They walked me through the process, asked thoughtful Q's about my design inspo, and made/installed a beautiful railing. I love it and am so excited about our new stairs!

This happens six months ago and I hired another Mobile welder to come fix it and unfortunately it didn't hold. Last Friday called when it broke off to hire a company to come help me fix it. They scheduled the appointment and canceled on me later that afternoon on Friday. And then called Martinez Welding, and on that same day in the afternoon he made a tremendous effort to come see it. Give me an estimate and fix the days later. He was professional, communicated efficiently, and was clean with his position overall project. This deserves a five star rating now I see why he has such a high rating. It's nice to feel like you're not just another paycheck for a company like the one prior that had called. Jorge responded immediately, asked for pictures beforehand so he could be sure to bring the correct parts, and arrived exactly at the time he committed to. After inspecting the gate and determining the root cause of the issue, Jorge did not want to risk damaging the gate's powder coat finish by welding on new hinges. He helped me remove the gate, talked me through several possible solutions, and we ultimately decided it would be best for me to contact the original gate builder to see if some of the needed parts are still available. Rob Dohrer is the man!…read more I was hesitant at first cause I didn't see any exhaust work on his online reviews but Rob was very knowledgable and his shop was close to work lol. He welded a Vibrant resonator to the straight midpipe that came with the catback system for my GTI. The midpipe slips into the resonator ends. The fitment was ovalish and not a perfect circle but Rob made it work. Rob cut the midpipe in two places, slipped the ends into the resonator and welded beautifully with a perfect seal. I had a strict requirement to maintain the original 28" length of the midpipe and the final product was dead on 28" and arrow straight. It fit into my exhaust system like a glove. Price for this work was very reasonable too. Thanks Rob!

We replaced my wood railing with a custom modern iron design that he copied exactly from a photo I showed him. He is honest, totally knowledgeable and hands on. He personally came out to measure, do templates and installed the railing on time with his helper. Install went without a hitch and very careful and respectful of your home. He gave us the best price and was communicative all along the process and right on the money timewise. As he got to work, he continued to walk us through each step so I always understood what where we were at in the process. It's rare to find someone who not only does quality work but also takes the time to educate you along the way.
