I've been around awhile and was also somewhat skeptical of NCIW after reading some of the past reviews (2017-2019) but after meeting Fernando Jr who has taken over the family business, I came away confident that he was the one to do my project. We replaced my wood railing with a custom modern iron design that he copied exactly from a photo I showed him. He is honest, totally knowledgeable and hands on. He personally came out to measure, do templates and installed the railing on time with his helper. Install went without a hitch and very careful and respectful of your home. He gave us the best price and was communicative all along the process and right on the money timewise. As he got to work, he continued to walk us through each step so I always understood what where we were at in the process. I was meeting with Fernando who had to reschedule due to not realizing where my home was. He arrived and looking and measuring said he would get back to me in a few days with an estimate and I wrote and called to no avail. He now has not responded after a week. I am guessing after reading other reviews that if your project is not big enough they are not interested. They definitely have a nice website, giving them the one star. read more

When looking at the negative reviews, you need to keep in mind that these guys are often subcontractors and don't seem to be 100% retail focused. They were a sub on a house we built in 2015-2017, and they did all the interior and exterior iron work (gates and lots of custom railing). They do very nice work. The reason for 5-stars is that after the relationship with our GC broke down, I contacted them and they came back as many times as it took to make it right. Sure, it would be better not to have any defects, but the commitment to the end result is there. read more

Fernando Sr came out to quote on 3 custom sets stair rails in June 2022. He said it would take 3 months to complete the project. I was fine with that time frame. Well it's almost June 2023 and the project is still not done. I have paid for 2/3 of the bill so now I'm stuck. I can't seem to get them to complete my job. The rails are sitting for months in their shop while bigger projects come & get done. I've been very patient to this point but a year and still not done is ridiculous right? 6/14/23 Update: Fernando Jr took over this project to get it done. The paint on the rails was finally completed and the rail were installed. There was an ooops with the middle set so they took them back for rework. Caesar came out to touch up the paint and apply the final sealer. I gotta say they look really nice so I have increased this review to 2 stars. I'm going to give NCIW another chance to build some custom garden gates. They do very nice work. If they can complete them in a timely manner (3 months) then they will deserve 5 stars. Worst customer service they came out for a quote, told me they would get back to me. I had to reach out with a phone call to see if I could get a follow up, they said they would call me it's been a month no phone call. I do not recommend them poor poor customer service, I guess they don't want my money. read more

I contacted North County Iron Works to come and give me an estimate on 2 railings that I needed fabricated and installed. The day of the appointment I was contacted and told they couldn't make it, so it was postponed. Cesar came on the day the appointment was rescheduled to and saw the area that needed work. He sketched it out and said he'd email me an estimate the next day or the following day. I received nothing after 4 days, so I called and left a message on their voicemail, but I received no call back. 6 days after Cesar came out I was able to get the office to answer the phone. Cesar was called to the phone and told me they had received some large multi unit jobs and could get to my two railings. I asked how long was the wait, I was told at least a month and a half. Securing the "big Job" must have occurred after coming out to give me an estimate otherwise he would not have come out. In the past I spent thousands of dollars with North County Iron Works on a spiral staircase and deck railing. I was really disappointed that it I was left hanging for a week waiting on an estimate and then essentially told my job was being superseded by a larger job. I told them up front the size of my project, so this couldn't have been a matter of my job being too small. This was clearly a case of not providing service to a good customer because of greedy business practices. A week of my time was wasted waiting for nothing. A shameful business model. The rating should be zero stars for poor communication, no service, no customer loyalty and wasting my time. read more

We are very happy with our custom stair railing. They did a great job.

so i talked to Fernando in may 2020 about a manhole cover for my septic tank. he said yes we can do that for you no problem, he is a nice guy and seems really easy to talk to and work with. i bought the sheet of metal june 6th and dropped it off to them that same day. come end of july they barely get the sheet back form the cnc shop and dont even update me at all this whole time. i consistently had to drop by of call them to get any kind of update from them. then came august 7th, i call Fernando and he tells me tomorrow im free after 12pm to come over and install the cover, well saturday comes and at 12:30 i give him a call and no answer, i leave a message and nothing, i called him every hour for 3 hours and messaged him until 5pm that day and never got a response. i even sent him a text stating that ill be in monday to pick up my plate. until monday morning where he said "yeah my bad man, i won't charge you for the cut, but im here when you want to cruise by" thats the type of business they do if your job doesnt make them thousands of dollars they just give it back to you after months. so much for helping out small local business. read more

I had a budget for my staircase rails - I called Fernando Jr. and he worked with me on pricing, design and overall scheduling to make my dream house come true. The entire company and their customer service was one of my best experience in the building of my house! They always called me back, showed up when they said they would and fit my job in when I was on a time crunch. Even after giving me a quote, I asked for him to work within my budget and he was able to make my budget work for me. My staircase is beyond beautiful and when I look at it everyday, I can't believe how well they curved the railings. It took expertise to create the curve. I also had them do my back deck railings and the installation was perfect along with the design. I would go back to them if I had any more iron projects! read more
