You won't find anything costing over £450 in here, and to my own surprise, it's actually... rather nice. I'd go as far as to say I'd happily purchase something from here. Priding itself on 'contemporary luxury' and specialising in silver and white gold, this is modern, it's classy, and there isn't a chintzy piece of tack, sovereign gold ring or gargantuan hoop in sight. Chavvy this ain't. The kitschiest thing you'll find here is a name necklace, and we all know Carrie Bradshaw made them quirky cool again so we needn't worry. Azendi's all about the geometric angles, funky jewels, shiny pearls and statement rings, and James is absolutely right about it cornering the younger market. It's hard to explain - Azendi just has that intangible feeling of being more highbrow than other high street jewellers. Kudos. I wouldn't just yoink my basics from here, I'd seriously treat myself. And with my fussiness levels, that's really saying something.

A great respite from the Christmas market outside, it offers Manchester some of the best contemporary jewellery in the world (from around 50 designers) and the pieces are showcased in purpose-built lit cabinets that really highlight the detail and workmanship. There's nothing high street about the work here. There's a lot of futuristic silver pieces, acrylic, steel, and brushed gold, and some very simple designs too. You really can find some very unique gifts here for purchase immediately or you can order a bespoke order too. This year the market runs from November 23rd until 2nd January.

Back in the days of Madchester, Afflecks Palace was the place to go to get cool flares, psychadelic…read moreshirts, sunhats and all the right threads. Rumour has it Urban Splash founder Tom Bloxham even had a stall here selling bootleg Inspiral Carpets and Happy Mondays tees. These days, Afflecks is a bit of a ghost town. There are still dozens of stalls selling everything from vintage and secondhand clothes to military wear, drugs paraphanelia, henna tattoos, wind-chimes and furniture. Sadly, there aren't as many old goths, rockers, emo teens and ageing punks as there used to be and you can sometimes walk round the whole building without seeing anyone other than the staff!

My check-list when buying a watch: -It has to be a good, well-known, posh brand -It has to have a metal strap or maybe if good enough a leather one -It has to, most definitely have a big dial! Oversized timepieces as said by Emma before. And then it would be perfect. Fossil has an amazing collection of watches and I truly do love them after a lot of Tommy Hilfiger, D&G, and the likes. They have great cuts and they seem to get the concept of women actually liking big dials a lot! They have an array to watches to choose from in this little store and during christmas they had some amazingly cheap deals that is way too low for Fossil! So if you're looking for a period to steal, any sale season is right for you! This branch also has some very pretty pendants and jewellery in beautiful tin boxes which can be great gifts. Oh, I forgot to mention about their 'tin box' legacy which I oh so love! Each watch comes in a box that you get to choose, these tin boxes with designs etched on them and somehow, I love little boxes. I love little boxes, little boxes love fossil, I love fossil. And its a cycle which continues forever.

I really like Fossil watches. I have a thing for oversized timepieces (I think it comes from years…read moreof hearing my father say how much he likes his watches 'chunky') and you can get some great varieties in this cute little Arndale branch, located aptly towards the 'posher' end as I like to call it. Plus, they come in hardwearing, colourful tins which I STILL use to store teabags and sugar in. Yeah, my kitchen rocks, guys. Rocks... fossils, wow, I am on fire today people. Heck yeah. Er... back to the task at hand. You can get a great deal of wristwear with some interesting designs on them, and there are even mother of pearl faces on offer which I know is a big incentive for some, including my own mum. The ones on the large leather straps are particularly noteworthy as they look unusual and extremely stylish. For the men there are plenty of unique watches in the 'mechanical' category, presumably they can tell you the time in several countries, the temperature of where you're standing, if you're facing North, that sort of gizmo talk. However Fossil ain't just about watches. There's bling to be had. The male jewellery is very surfery and there are some gorgeous rings... remember, man rings are acceptable these days. For women some of the rings look almost eternity band-worthy and only cost around £35. Earrings are simple and gorgeous, as are the bangles, and the jewellery is available in silver and stainless steel. Fossil even has its own range of sunglasses for the guys and gals as well as bags, wallets and gosh, shoes, I bet you weren't expecting that. Fossil is high quality, reasonably priced and full of surprises. What more do you want?

As far as the latter goes, it seems this is a catching on trend, and is known as 'vintage'. Everyone wants something vintage. Which makes me want it less. However, 69A manages to keep me grounded. It's just off-the-cuff enough to stay out of mainstream, and has a feeling that you've clambered into the boot of a Lada at a car boot sale (those not as old fashioned as me may want to google Lada cars...) It is packed with goodies from all eras, and has enough variety to keep you sifting through for a whole afternoon, should the feeling take you. Hopefully not about to be hijacked by the kids who view it as a fad, 69A has been around long enough to hold its own in the vintage stakes and outlast the craze. And then I can go back to liking vintage again.

It is all seemingly a jumbled explosion of antiques with an Art Deco style figure, worth £450 rubbing shoulders with a disused chimney pot. However, clearly although there are second hand clothes, earrings, ties galore, records and brooches, knick-knacks and badges there are also some pretty good buys if you fancy yourself as a bit of a collector (or at least have seen enough episodes of Antiques Roadshow to think you can spot a bargain). Mainly you need to look up to see these, the expensive stuff tends to be locked away or like the vases which line the walls, a little out of reach. In the glass cases at the front I noticed 69A has a great selection of pottery from Poole's to a really cool 1960s Wedgewood blown glass art vase. The wierdest thing that sticks out in my mind which I've seen in one of the back cabinets is an unused pair of 1965 pajamas Age 2-3 still in its cellophane. Odd. So come here if you want an interesting and strange trip back in time!

They have really made the…read moreeffort to make this charity shop stand out from the rest, and there are about 8 charity shops along this road in which we visited all of them yesterday but this is the only one worth reviewing! They have wedding dresses for £24.99. And not tatty old wedding dresses with things spilt down them, but proper heavy well designed fancy pants dresses in perfect condition. Almost made me want to get married just so I could buy them, not quite enough though. Seen all these new vintage shops selling old clothes for a small fortune? Well visit this Barnardo's and get the same stuff for less money with the knowledge a charity gets the money! Also a nice change - not walls filled with books, dvds and cds - only really old old stuff! Well worth a visit x

There are too few places that pay close attention to detail and workmanship in the modern age so it is a refreshing touch to have an establishment such as this within the heart of the city if Liverpool and its fantastic shopping district. The staff here are experts in there field and they fill you with confidence from the moment you enter into conversation with them. The best thing about this place is the results you get from their carefully engraved jewellery to their faultlessly repaired watches. On the whole this place represents an excellent company ethos which transfers its way all the way through to the staff and in turn the customers. This place is a fantastic establishment which is a pleasure to visit.
