Verdict: Great school…read more Cons: - Things are continually changing. The school is growing, they're trying new things all the time, adding new things and dropping old things. You can be pretty positive that brazilian jiu-jitsu and crossfit aren't going anywhere, but the schedule might change. And other things like birthday parties, those might end. It's in flux month by month. - You can't spar with the blackbelt. She got a major injury a few years ago and now she can teach but not compete. (This isn't a very big problem, see below.) Pros: - The people are awesome. Humble and friendly. Even the buff dudes are just having fun and trying to help you - and everyone - improve. - There's jiu jitsu for every level: Little bitty kids learn the basic movements and play fun games. Big kids and teenagers get the full jiu-jitsu experience, but only with people their own size. There's intro jiu-jitsu for adults in the morning, regular jiu-jitsu classes in the evenings, "open mat" for sparring and troubleshooting, and even a "competition team" class for the really intense and serious training. - I said you can't spar with the blackbelt. Maybe that sounds like you're missing out on a challenge or something. Haha. Don't worry about that, even the intermediate players will hold you down and tap you out... without sweating, while they're having a conversation with somebody else. There's plenty, plenty of challenging training partners. Wait til you meet Strong Josh. It's like trying to fight a van. - There's a bunch of stuff besides jiu-jitsu! Crossfit is the other big one, with like 4 classtimes per day. But there's also karate, a tanning bed, a massage therapist who's awesome (if you've ever had a massage and wished the person were stronger, here's your chance. Jana works on almost nothing but athletes, and she'll loosen you up no matter who you are.) "Ninja camp" for little kids, some faith events, and other stuff too. And always trying something new. So overall, what a great place. Good place to get yourself in shape, good place to meet quality people, good place for your kids to make friends. Try it out.

The kids are learning through playing. My son is now much more independent and confident after a month of lessons. He has recently earned his white belt, and I can certainly observe the positive impact this class has had on his discipline. Price for the classes also very reasonable. Great location. Clean interior. Denny truly care about all the kids and theirs learning process. Would recommend for any family looking into martial arts for their kids!

He attends Mr. Stecker's class with great enthusiasm and dedication. The class structure and training patterns often change, which might seem challenging at first, but it has truly been a blessing. It teaches both the kids and us, as parents, to stay flexible and adapt--an essential skill in today's fast-paced, ever-changing world. Mr. Stecker doesn't just teach martial arts; he builds confidence, discipline, and strong character in his students. He helps shape them into kind, respectful, and well-rounded individuals. As a parent, I've learned so much just by observing his teaching approach and positive influence.
