Well Auberge Internationale de Qubec, you are the first Hostel International location in Canada for which I have written a review on Yelp :-) I stayed here for two nights and it's a very nice and clean hostel. I can only compare it with the Vancouver HI Hostel on Granville Street which is just as fairly maintained. I found the other Hostel International locations within Canada to be not as clean as these two hostels. It looks like the Auberge Internationale was built inside a school or a border house because it is a lot elongated and spacious inside than when you look at it from the street. The entry to the hostel room have to be accessed with the key-card and the same goes for the rooms, which was great. Not all HI hostels have that feature! The central area of the 8 bunk dorm room was spacious to move around and I liked the little platform around the base of the big windows. Enough sun-light came in during the day and brightened up the room. And the showers and washrooms are also just as clean, the showers are also private which means there is an outer door that you can close when you go inside. You can have a secure shower experience and the heat from the hot water will stay not escape from the shower stall. And even though breakfast is an extra charge, I didn't include that as part of my booking. There are plenty of places to have breakfast near the hostel. Also, I noticed at this particular hostel that the location of the front desk and its separation from the rooms did not allow too many guests to congregate around the front desk area so you could go in and breathe easy as you made your way to your hostel room. It was mostly quiet even in the night time The location also allows you to get to several (important) attractions such as parts of the city's walls with the ramparts and the looked-out towers, fortification areas with lots of old cannons and an impressive view of parts of the lower side of the Old Quebec as well as the Chateau Frontenac, a few older churches, and from there you can walk along Rue Saint-Jean through one of the gate-ways and go towards the downtown areas. You can check out all these places on your first day before making your way further down into Old Quebec. And also from the auberge you can walk down to the parts of Rue Saint Jean with lots of little shops, cafes and restaurants. I definitely recommend this Auberge as it is central enough and not right smack in the middle of some of the touristy areas and escape away from the crowds in the more commercial areas of the old town when you head back to sleep after a long night of touring and dining.

Exceptional Stay in the Heart of Old Québec…read more L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec was our home for a six-day holiday in Québec City, and we could not have chosen a better place to stay. Our double queen room with kitchenette was spacious, immaculately clean, quiet, and exceptionally comfortable. After long days exploring the city, we particularly appreciated the deep soaking tub, the rainfall shower, and what may have been some of the best water pressure we've experienced in a hotel anywhere. Small details matter, and this hotel gets them right. The location is fantastic--perfectly situated within Old Québec and within easy walking distance of the city's historic sites, restaurants, shops, and attractions. Despite being in the heart of everything, the hotel was remarkably peaceful and quiet. One of our favorite amenities was the guest lounge and its outstanding coffee machine, which quickly became part of our daily routine. We also opted for the breakfast package, and it was a delight. Each morning we awoke to a basket of fresh breakfast goodies hanging on our door: fresh pastries, juice, yogurt, and other treats. We never tired of it. As a fun local note, visitors should know that the beloved pain au chocolat is called a "chocolatine" here, just as it is in the south of France! What truly sets this hotel apart, however, is its people. M. Pierrôt deserves special recognition. He was warm, helpful, knowledgeable, and always greeted us with a genuine smile. In truth, every member of the staff we encountered embodied the hotel's reputation for friendly, personalized service. We also appreciated staying in a property with such a rich history. Built on land once known as the "Garden of the Poor," where medicinal plants were cultivated by the Augustines of the Hôtel-Dieu de Québec, the site has witnessed centuries of Québec City's evolution. Today, the hotel beautifully blends that historic character with modern comfort and thoughtful amenities. It is easy to understand why L'Hôtel du Vieux-Québec has earned such an outstanding reputation among travelers. For us, it was the perfect base from which to explore one of North America's most beautiful and historic cities. While the rooms are small and sharing a bathroom is the norm, the downside is the thin walls that make it easy to hear everyone in the hostel. The beds were typical, cheap mattresses but once you put the sheets over it, you can't really tell. It's comfortable enough. You're in hostel. don't expect too much. There were two showers in the whole place, one of the showers is in one of the bedrooms so it's easily missed. There are two toilets separate from the shower rooms so no conflicting issues there. Free wifi, bed sheets, blankets and pillows included complimentary computers. decent, neither old nor slow No towels! bring your own. Come out of the hostel, make a right for 4 blocks, turn left and there's a long set of stairs that brings you right up to old town. Lower town is a bit of a walk, maybe 15 minutes but not a problem if you're from a city. If you're from the suburbs then... you may be a bit whiny about the walk.

This is not a youth hostel, I would call it "un gîte". I booked a bed while driving back from out…read moreeast. They have many options for rooms. The cheapest accommodation is in the 10 person mixed dorm. It was $31. They accept debit and credit cards as well as cash. The facilities are great, it's a well renovated semidetached house where both sides were combined. There is a common kitchen and lots of individual washrooms equipped with shower, sink and toilet. There is also a washer and dryer in the kitchen. Location is also great, the hostel backs onto the Charny train station, is close to bars, five minutes from a depanneur and it is easy to drive to. There is plenty of parking on the property. It is on a main road, so it's easy to find if you're driving. It's a 5min drive to autoroute 20. The neighbourhood is very safe. There are nice touches that made this place feel luxurious for a hostel: towels are included, and they're nice Egyptian cotton towels; bunks have hooks and shelves for glasses; there is a pretty deck with tables in the back, enough to sit all the guests; and the house is surrounded by lovely landscaping. Here's why I didn't give the place 5 stars: - the train passes by the station at 9pm and 6am and it is quite noisy. My wake up time was therefore 6 am but breakfast doesn't start until 8am, and you have to pay for that, preferably with cash - I had to pay for a cup of coffee in the morning, it was awkward trying to find the change to pay for such a small item... I paid for my stay with credit - the owners are too flexible with new guests checking-in at late hours; one registered past 10pm. I just don't think it's a good habit they've started for a hostel given accommodation is shared - There were very few youths; hence it really isn't a youth hostel. This was the peak of youth tourist season, still this hostel attracts older travellers who can dish out more money for the inexpensive private accommodations available here. You end up with various classes of guests, basically the poor ones and the rich ones. This negatively affects the atmosphere. Guests are not in the habit of talking to eachother as much as in other hostels I've stayed in. I'm a social guy but didn't feel welcome to interact with anybody here.

Of cause don´t expect any luxury as it is still a Motel, but the room was clean as well as the bedding and the bathroom- and this is all that counts to us plus the free wifi.
