The gym is heating up over 75 degrees. No one does anything about it. Same heating issue as last summer. The manager doesn't care about the gym condition. Equipment takes forever to get repaired. Doesn't wipe down equipment after dusting, which leaves the seats all dusty. Half ass work. He is Hispanic with short hair and has some behavioral problem. One of the most poorly managed clubs. Broadway and Logan Square have better GMs. There hasn't been any music for two weeks and the GM does nothing to fix the problem. I travel for work and have visited numerous PF across the country. If you're looking for a clean, well kept, and usual PF equipment please turn around and go someplace else. The gym is tiny, filthy (compared to other PF locations), older equipment, out of service machines, and just an overwhelming lack of care and attention to cleanliness from the staff. This would never fly at the PF locations in my city. This is an obvious absentee owner and the regional manager is turning a blind eye. However, they do have a ton of cardio and would recommend this location for anything cardio. read more

I travel a lot for work and have been to probably 25 PFs around the country. Unfortunately this is my home club and it is the worst of them all. Unbelievably small, barely any benches (they're all broken), ratio of free weights to treadmills is comical, and it's just so so small. It's really hard to get a legit workout completed here. Staff doesn't seem to care either. People act insane here... I've seen folks working out shirtless, people sitting on their phone for 30 minutes taking up a machine, playing music out of a speaker. It's the worst. You're better off going for a run outside and doing some push-ups than visiting here read more

Would be a decent gym due to the cost and location, but lately it is failing to live up to the basics. There has been no AC yet this spring, which means the gym is unbearably hot for working out. I almost had to leave last week. There is literally hot air coming out of the vents in the upper areas when it is 80 degrees outside. Next week it is supposed to be near 90 and I am already planning on not to going. Today, it was still not open 2 hours after opening time. Another member waiting outside said that it was late opening yesterday too. Most of the front desk staff are friendly enough. Wish there was another slightly more elevated option with more equipment and classes in the immediate area. Would be willing to pay more. The closest option is about a 20 min walk and a much higher cost. Will need to look for an alternative option. read more

Anyone rating this lower than 3-stars is kind of being ridiculous. Planet Fitness is a cost leader who's facilities work on few staff members that are probably underpaid and overworked. PF is NOT a fitness club PF is a facility that has equipment in it that you are paying for access to, if the equipment is maintained and cleaned they are holding up their end of the deal as far as I'm concerned. This facility is small and takes adjusting to get used to but the convince of location, low cost, Great staff, okay amenities, and cleanliness of equipment keep me returning. I went and tried the local trial at LA fitness in the loop recently as I thought of maybe moving gyms, and I immediately realized how much better this PF is even at half the size. There are no sales people here, no sleazy contracts with hidden upcharges and fees. This place is pretty laid back and easy going. I do wish there was a way this place could expand the space more though. read more

Talking with another member and he mentioned the weekdays are generally good but the weekend hours are unreliable. Will wait a few more minutes before headed back to the hotel. I would think that since this location is in downtown Chicago that it would be something of a flagship branch in the area. It is definitely not and is bizarrely lagging behind the suburban branches. There are only two Smith machines, the hip abductor and adductor machines only go up to 100 pounds, there's no step up apparatus and it is oddly dimly lit even in the daytime. We are members of Planet Fitness. We travel extensively so we use the gym in the area we are visiting. This gym is located in Streeterville. I am sure some of the issues could be due to staffing. This was around 10:30am on a Tuesday. There was one individual at the front counter and no one else working in the facility, that we could see. A second employee came in, ( dressed in PF employee gear) but was using the massage chair for quite sometime, perhaps before their shift? There were maybe 20 individuals using the gym at the time, so not super crowded. Some equipment needs attention. A walk through now and again and some elbow grease goes a long way. read more

Recently became a member at the Planet Fitness Streeterville location and am very satisfied. It has nearly all the machines/weights I like to use (plus for Black Card members the Hydromassage chairs alone are worth $23/month.) I have never found it to be extremely busy or had to wait too long to use a machine (even though it is just after the new year when you would expect it.) The locker room is no-frills (no towels or locks provided so you have to bring your own) but does have showers and vanities. Front desk staff members have always been friendly. As is standard with Planet Fitness locations there are no free weight barbell/squat racks (only Smith machines) and dumbbbells max out at 65 pounds, so if you are an intermediate/advanced lifter this of course will not be optimal for you - but if you are in your first ~year of training or getting back into the gym after a while I highly recommend it! read more

Curtis the manager at Planet Fitness was very unprofessional and rude. When asked if I can take my picture another day his response was to take my picture now or I will be kicked out of the club. As a paying customer I was very disattisfied with how I was treated. They claim to be "a judgement free zone" yet the "manager" couldn't even explain the reasoning behind the policy. Ok, so, I'm currently a member of this gym. I signed up for a basic membership about a year ago because my doctor keeps asking me if I'm getting in an appropriate amount of exercise and I got tired of lying to her. I pay $10/mo (and some annual fee which is somewhere between $20 and $40). For $10/mo, you get exactly what you pay for. They certainly couldn't afford central air on my measly money, so it's always hot in there. Everywhere. Especially in either of the two upper level areas (the stretching/elliptical/glute machine/ab machine area and the leg/back machines are upstairs). Seriously, bring your own towel. That's the other thing: towels. None provided. This isn't a health club, so don't expect any frills. The staff are cordial for the most part, but, just like at most gyms, the front desk staff will continue their conversation over verbally acknowledging your entrance. The staff assigned to clean the locker rooms are about their business. If I had to endure all of those fragrances in either of those locker rooms as a part of my job, I wouldn't make time for small talk either. As far as cleanliness goes, I've never witnessed anything too grotesque. At worst, the sink area is often inexplicably wet. Just like an any public restroom, it seems like they do regular check ins. I've never had anything missing in the restroom, but one time there was no paper towel to wipe down the machines, and the staff immediately provided that. That is to say, if you have a special request, make it known. They're not magical fairies who show up as soon as someone pees on a seat or clogs a toilet. Ya dig? I wish there were better machines, but again... $10 a month. There isn't much space for free weights, and that always seems to be the busiest area. As it is, the free weights are so strangely situated, it almost seems like if they moved them to another couple of walls, there would be less of a traffic jam. But what do I know? Lastly, the hours are kind of a gyp. It's 24 hrs technically only 4 days of the week (they might tell you it's 5, but that's wrong). They open at midnight on Monday. Tues-Thurs they're open 24 hours. They close at 9pm on Friday. Saturday & Sunday they're open 7a-7p. How is that convenient? It's not, really. Again, I take responsibility for my part in this. So, only you can decide what you value in a gym. I needed a cheap membership to get in some cardio and lifting every once in awhile. I'm satisfied with what I got. If you're looking for the Health Club experience, go somewhere else. read more

Staff quality and professionalism has gone downhill since last year. Greg was seen and heard berating a person very loudly in the lobby in January. This conduct is unacceptable for any service industry. The gym is small and many members know this guy is unprofessional. Management and employee conduct need improvement. Steven the assistant/temporary or new fitness manager at the downtown Chicago Planet Fitness tried to evoke my membership because I told him that having a 50 inch TV litetally 5 feet from your face while in a small room full of massage chairs is unhealthy and endangers my mental & overall health. I was told I cannot turn off the TV that is very obviously endangering my overall health and wellbeing. Steven is a new & potentially temporary manager that still wears an assistant manager badge. He was dishonest and said that my payment was due or I had to leave, when he did the exact same thing less than a month ago in which he then verified the contractual agreement I made with the previous manager Davon. This is not the first time I have had to deal with illogical, lethargic, unqualified & unprofessional Steven. Steven does not have the proper social skills or knowledge to be an effective gym manager. Gym managers are supposed to motivate not lethargically exhaust! Being limited to reciting rules and regulations without the ability to communicate or think freely otherwise results in toxic management & leadership. Cynthia a front desk employee blatantly lied or is equally unfit for her job as she blatantly lied knowing very well I made a contractual agreement with the previous manager Davon but attempted to deny it. A massage chair relaxes the mind and body a 50inch TV 5 feet from ones face is 100% undoubtably unhealthy for a persons proper brain health and function. Excessive exposure to inorganic bright lights cause a hyperactive, stimulus dependent brain. Planet Fitness denies the health risk of such set up. Customers beware Planet Fitness claims it is acceptable, and not a health risk to sit way way to close to the television. Neither Steven nor Cynthia are fit to sufficiently or professionally run or work at a fitness gym. I would like an apology from upper management and my membership reactivated as a start.
