I have been a memeber here for years, and I hardly go!! It's only $20 a month, and you get lots and lots for that, so here I am. They recently renovated the entire gym, so the locker rooms and reclined hydromassage tables are new. They have plenty of space and plenty of workout stations! The staff is always busy and polite. It seems that the treadmills are atill old though, and plugging into them with headphones can be dicey. You have to wiggle the cord to get proper contact. It is like this on the stationary bikes too, so here's room to improve. There is really too much to go over in just one review, so I will say that this is the best money per workout (less than $1 per day)anywher You can have a free workout, if you want to join, and it is easy to pay for, if you want to stay! So primary issue for me is how you can have a statement in your place of business like judgement free. Then commence to telling possible customers that hats aren't allowed unless they are baseball hats only because individuality makes others uncomfortable. Much improved since yesterday's visit at another PF - this one had hot water. Yay! A good go at the 30 minute workout with arms, legs, some curls. And then over to the locker room to get a shower. Good space with appropriate hot water and comfortable. I've been using the heck out of my Black Card membership and it's worth it. Hooray for a workout and shower on the road! As other posters mentioned, there is a homeless problem at this gym. There were three in there on 9-17-25. One was outright sleeping on the chairs in the black card area, the other two were taking up the other seats. They park their carts and bikes outside in full view of the employees. It will take an assault by a mentally ill homeless person. It will take someone stepping on a needle in the shower for the owners to do something about it. This is a constant problem that keeps showing up and they continue to do nothing. AFTER someone steps on a needle. AFTER someone is attacked they will be full of assurances that it won't happen again, but they won't life a finger to stop it from happening in the first place. The staff nor the manager cares. They do no respond to concerns. This problem has been going on for YEARS. Multiple people are posting about it and it keeps happening. I have no doubt the Planet Fitness auto response will be to "reach out to the Manager and thank you for letting us know..." read more

This is my first gym, and I am really enjoying it. They have a lot of different machines, and the staff is friendly. I have also made friends here. Please bring back Randy! If you plan on using the black card benefits don't go to this gym. I've been going there for almost 6 months and there is always the same people sleeping on the couches for hours. Food that they have ordered is nearby. I've gone there at all times of the day and they are always there when I get there and always there when I leave. I don't know if they're homeless or what but they spend most of every day living in the Black Card area. The staff here obviously does not care about this or the fact that members can't use the benefits they've paid for. This is an upfront problem that is in the staff's faces for months. This shows you that they don't care. It is not something that they need to be made aware of. The staff does not respond to any concerns, nor do they fix the problem. read more

I hate when large companies gyms like planet unfit to manage and assist its members in all income brackets..Gyms who need members and not more money try to stick it to the middle women...and should direct their aggresstions to larger problems planet fitness staff lack customer service and respect for paying customers in all income groups the staff member at one of their locations yelled at me that even though I payed dearly and upgrade to the $25 plan members fee I can't use or fall asleep in their massage chair although it was broken and wasn't given massages like the ones at the nail salon..the insults continues as 3 months after blocking them and their fees from my account they deduct money as though it's owed to their entitled assessment of the situation!... read more

This is the slackest PF I've ever been to. The employees literally could care less what goes on out on the floor and as a matter of fact break PF own guidelines themselves lol. I had a couple instances there with other members. One guy was using the leg press literally for over 30 mins. He had plates stacked on it and would do a leg press. Take a break do some pushups. Take a break. Do some squats with the 45 plate. I asked him at one point if he would be done soon and he told me that he would be on it for a while because he has to work his way through the whole stack. After 45 mins, I complained and the girl just said there is no time limit on how long a person can be on a machine and I told he wouldn't even let me work in. I asked him twice. She said she would take care of it and no one ever said anything to him. One day I saw one of the workers working out in socks while he was working there and then a couple days later he was working again and I saw this girl walking around in her socks. The idea of gross, sweaty socks grosses me out and just being on the floor was bad enough, but this chick was standing on the plates and carrying a bag around on the floor as well. I went to the guy and ask if he could ask her to put her shoes on and he said sure. A few minutes go by and he does nothing. Then I realize he's wearing slides lol, not even shoes himself. I finished my workout and never saw him say a word and I saw the girl go to the locker. I was telling his coworker that he did nothing and he saw me and came up and interrupted and said he told her. His coworker told me that employees are allowed to wear sandals or whatever they want. I complained on the PF website because I knew calling the store would do no good and never heard a word. I asked for a call back. Nothing. I haven't been back in 2 weeks and that sucks because it's the only PF in Gainesville and I'll be here for a month so that's a month dues for nothing. Oh yeah and they only have one toilet lol which always has someone in there taking forever to do their business. Also, the paper towels out one day, another the trash is often overflowing. If I lived here, I definitely would not even pay $10 to go to this club. They literally don't give a crap. read more

I'm a new member. I've been an exercise enthusiast for 53 years and belonged to Many venues over the years. I'm not a very social person, so giving up my home gym in favor of a "membership ", was I thought going to be difficult. I've been pleasantly surprised and impressed with the friendly staff and amenities, and enjoy getting advice as needed to further improve my training skills. The manager Randy has been especially helpful explaining why at my age I have limitations due to my age, and has been helpful and encouraging in every aspect. I've been going here for about 6 months... I'll be honest, it's been at random, because well that's how gyms makes their money, lol! But I love it! I have never felt uncomfortable, by the employees or other members. The trainer Colleen is so sweet, always greets me by name, and is always happy to help with any question I've had. I've been at a variety of times/days and have never had to wait for a cardio machine, but I do wish they would get more smaller weights (less than 10lbs) The 5/7.5/10 lb dumbbells are hard to come by at times. I would also would love to see longer hours on weekends, holy cow, momma needs to run on weekends too! Word to newbies... if you're intimidated or don't know what to do, ask a trainer, ask at the desk, or ask a member! Whenever I've asked a member for help, they've been happy to help. Gym has very basic equipment. Their policies are beyond ridiculous. Everyone that works out here is at a beginners level, so if you have been working out for 20 years, you are going to make them feel uncomfortable. They want it as quiet as a church. I've been going here off and on for 10 years. I love the fact when I go ( which is during a.m. hours) it's usually less crowded and very peaceful. I'm a senior and really love the idea of getting a full workout based on my personal needs. My only minus is the ports on the equipment is not iPhone friendly. @ least it wasn't during my last active membership. So I can't utilize the tv's while working out but just use my phone. read more

I am visiting family in Gainesville for a bit and have been using this gym. Today I was cussed at and threatened by Randy around 11:45 or noon. All because I asked for help with a rude member who just walked up and changed to machine I was using. I cannot believe how rude Randy was after I walked away and went to signup for a tan. I asked for the general managers contract from Randy his response was "fuck you get the fuck out of my gym" I then started for the front door when he asked me what my name was so he could cancel my account. Not a bad gym just has pretty limited hours and equipment compared to other gyms in town. The $10 a month ads are misleading. The limited membership is $10 a month plus a annual fee. If you're looking for more than a treadmill or elliptical then this isn't the best choice. As of May 2016 this gym has really gone down hill the biggest problem is the staff they treat you like shit if the acknowledge you at all and they don't treat your guests very well. It's always great having some dumb child in braces roll her eyes at you and make you run out to your car for an ID. This staff seems to be the reason the members aren't here. read more

This gym just recently opened and they cater toward everyday people who are just looking to get in better shape and not body builders. Most of the equipment is cardio equipment, but there are also plenty of weight machines and free weights. If you are a serious weightlifter you would probably should not join here. They have two plans, one for $10 a month that includes all of the machines, and one for $19.99 a month that also includes unlimited tanning and massage chairs. Since they place is new it is nice and clean and everything works, hopefully it will stay that way. On the first Monday of the month they have free pizza night so you can try and gain back any weight you may have lost! read more

My first time at this location. I have a modest home gym but I've been in a bit of a rut so I decided to join PF as a way to get out of the house and shake things up a bit. Of all the gym choices in Gainesville, I chose PF because of the location and price. I didn't know about all the "judgement free" marketing and branding until after I went online to look up membership options. I was sold. Very easy to join online with 3 options to choose from. I immediately received an email notifying me of my activated membership so I headed directly to the gym to see what I signed up for. Wow. It's really purple in here. And yellow. The front desk attendants were friendly enough, (although they didn't offer me a tour of the facility. No big deal because I'm socially awkward anyway so I don't really enjoy interaction with new people. Sad but true.) The gym is CLEAN and spacious with plenty oF machines and moderate traffic. There was a smorgasbord of gym-goers of all races, body shapes, ages, and fitness levels. I felt very comfortable and, umm, judged-free. Plenty of parking. BYOW or buy bottled water at the front desk. Guest passes are $20 but you get all access for 24 hours so your guest could potentially get 2 visits for the price of one if you play your (guest) card right. Maybe I'm being presumptuous by going with 4 stars after one visit but that's what the edit button is for I suppose. My first impression of PF in Gainesville was a pretty good one and I can't wait to get back up in the gym to keep working on my fitness. read more

I travel a lot with work and end up in Gainesville once a month. I always visit this Planet Fitness when I'm in town and if I'm honest, I wish there was a better location close by. That's not to say that this particular location is horrible, it's just very average. The outside looks like it would be huge, but upon walking in I noticed that it's the smallest Planet Fitness I've ever seen. The front desk area takes up WAY too much space and only leaves room for two massage chairs. Every other Planet Fitness I've been to has a Black Card Spa, but this one does not. Kind of a bummer. Also, there's more than enough cardio machines, but there is a serious lack of weight machines. Every time I would use a machine, I'd end up with at least one person standing nearby waiting for me to finish and the place really wasn't even that busy. Plus, there isn't a stretching area so I just had to pop a squat next to the bathrooms to do a quick (and awkward) stretch. A plus is that this location seems to always be fairly clean and the staff here is normally pretty friendly, as well. If this location was even a little bit bigger, it would definitely make for a better experience. The small, cramped gym isn't my favorite but it's also not the worst gym I've ever been to. read more

First thing I noticed was that it's not open 24 hours. The one in Denver is 24 hours. Hell, even the one in Pueblo is 24 hours. This kind of sucks for me because one of the reasons I joined PF when I lived in Denver was the fact that they were open 24 hours. I have Restless Leg Syndrome and, occasionally, I need to get up and exercise my legs in the middle of the night. Also, they have massage chairs, not the really cool massage tables. Denver has tables. Even Pueblo. Other than that, it's your standard Planet Fitness. It's happy and purple. I don't think I would have choosen PF if I had lived in Gainesville. But it's where I have my membership and it's fairly close to the house, so I don't see any reason to go through the process of quitting the gym. read more

Wow! I recently had a fight with my roommate and had to move out, so naturally I did the first thing I could. Not having a vehicle, found somewhere to store my stuff while I find somewhere to live. After a whole day of searching options I chose to open a gym membership and immediately thereafter requested a lock and locker to store my thing. Meaning that's what I needed it for. After using the facilities I paid to use for a while the trainer started stacking fees into my bank account claiming that I am not supposed to use the gym for that purpose... excuse me! I did a trial membership in Port Charlotte for $30 since I was vacationing there. I took me by surprise when I in to work out and I had to give up my bank account number for a "trial membership", so they could charge me the annual fee if I didn't cancel it. I have never heard of anyone doing that. It makes me really uncomfortable to have to have given up that information to a gym. I get back home and call Planet Fitness to cancel. I obviously can't go into the club since I don't live in town (one of the two ways you can cancel). Go into your "home" club to cancel in person and the other way is to write a letter and mail it with a reason as to why you are cancelling. Are they serious? Why not make it easy to cancel over the phone or email. I can't remember the last time I mailed anything and I don't have any stamps or envelopes. I guess since they have my bank account number they are hoping I will forget to send a letter to cancel. I will never consider a membership with Planet Fitness gym because of these of these ridiculous policies. read more

A gym is a gym, but in this case, if you decide you want to cancel your membership, they will not let you do that by telephone or online. You either have to go to the gym in person (even in Florida where Covid-19 cases are spiking!) or send a certified letter. Clearly, they want to discourage cancellations, so they can keep taking money from your bank account. read more

I like this gym, it has all the machines I need and is in a great location with lots of parking. What I dont like however is that the whole 'no judgement zone' thing is obviously not in place as there is a whole crowd of really buff 'lunk heads' who hang around in front of the cardio machines near the weights, mainly talking and checking out the girls working out. I dont like it, its uncomfortable- and its not only lots of staring, its comments too as you walk past them like 'daaaamn girl' Not appropriate for the gym where I like to feel I can just go work out without being harrassed! Not sure if managment is going to disband the groups of leering guys or if it is just going to make women leave who dont enjoy the constant scrutiny as they run! --------------- Update: It seems less sleazy these days. This Planet Fitness seems brand new, and I was surprised to find out that it's been open for a few years. It's always clean, and the equipment is kept in good condition. It can get crowded at certain times for the weights; but if you just want a treadmill or other exercise machine you will have no wait. I do miss my other PF which was open 24hrs. This one does have some strange operating hours. But for the price, it's worth it. There are so many odd reviews on here about weird guys, macho guys making comments etc...haven't experienced this here; and that really goes against the MO of PF. Just canceled my membership. Terrible guest policy. Poor customer service. Paid an extra $10 a month for guest option but never used it. Then one time I had two friends interested in working out, one visiting from out of town. Was then told (not before) that I could only have one guest at a time. The staff were 100% unhelpful and uncaring to my situation. She literally cared none about trying to help or about keeping me as a member. Her and the other guys' attitude helped convince me to leave. The gym offers not great hours and not a lot of facilities, so customer service matters more, and I got none. read more

Mitch was very courteous and very helpful. Offered assistance as needed and guidance with any questions. This facility is very spacious and does not feel too congested. The relax room/area with the water bed massager is very well suited for a gym and very beneficial after a workout. I am glad I am a member of PF and I hope they continue to promote quality customer service and a spacious and clean environment. Glad they have a changing area and also shower area and since I travel thru every state it is super convenient to access the other gyms. The locker is separate from the shower area which adds to spacing and COVID safety. Be advised, the treadmills have a black strip/section on the edge that does not move and if you touch it while running you can fall (running rotational strip is not edge to edge) but other than great place to workout for the price. The employees courtesy and polite mannerism makes it worth while because the worst place to go to is a gym with mean or rude employees and I did not find any in this facility. Planet fitness has a mask policy, which they use to pretend to act like they are the responsible gym. It's a lie, they don't ever enforce it at all. I've watched the employees walk around countless times directly past maskless people who are moving around and they never say a word. When I confronted them about it they lied to my face and said they try, but I'd already watched all of them not try at all. I was going to the planet fitness in Apopka, Florida so I just want people to know do not go to planet fitness and if and the manager. They are extremely rude. I had a situation I came to the gym and I worked out as I was leaving. I addressed to the staff that I need to make a payment. on my account.. So I told the manager that I will call back and discuss it with her over the phone.. Because I had to take my daughter to the doctor however she never asked me to make a payment. I'm the one that took the initiatives to actually made payment with them and use my card. The manager tells me it shows that I don't have an adequate account on file and started disrespecting me down, talking to me over the phone and then she tells me I'm gonna cancel your membership in an aggressive tone because I told her that I would continue to use my ATM card and I got a new ATM card and that's why I made the initiative to pay using my Atm card . so I requested to speak to a district manager. She told me that she would not allow me to speak with a district manager and that she make full decisions at that gym , so I called another planet fitness on Lee Road and I spoke to the manager there by the name of Felix and he was extremely nice in the beginning and then when I called back after he told me to call back that he was very rude he said that his district manager said not to discuss with me this anymore and he did tell a district manager to call me in which I never beware from a District..and Felix said not to call him anymore because he don't have anything to do with that issue and Felix is the manager at Lee Road Planet fitness r fetus also stated that that he and the Apopka, Florida manager he and she are very close friends. at the Apopka Florida. And buy her counselor me the manager at the Apopka Florida planet fitness for no reason at all I never disrespected her. I never cursed at her. I was very humble and nice to her. I just told her that I in the beginning when I signed up last year 2022 of March I did give them the correct account. But my account will continue to kick them out. That's why I was making payments with my ATM card. Period I didn't disrespect heard I did never disrespected the gym. I've always been nice and quiet . Gym is so clean, this is like what other reviewers are saying " is not a bodybuilders gym" depending what your goals are this is perfect. Great staff, 4 tanning beds and the monthlies are cheap. Im very impressed with this gym, I'm pretty spoiled being a member of 24 hour fitness and bally fitness, and add planet fitness to this list which I think could give those 2 companies a run for there money. read more
