Planet fitness in Mentor advertises personal training classes on their app for my club services, but doesn't actually have classes at their location. False advertising! This has been going for last few years when you ask them when the trainer will be available at Mentor location. Staff response- "There could be a potential trainer eventually, but not at the moment " There was no classes advertised until recently, which led me to believe that there is a trainer at Mentor location currently. Planet fitness advertises classes nonstop but only a select few have them. Get a membership at Mentor but drive 20-30 minutes out and then you have to explain yourself why you want to use a different location. Drive 20-30 minutes to get a 30 minute class- that is absurd! They've done absolutely nothing to resolve this issue in years! But they for sure have raised their prices. Even when they did have one, he wasn't even certified, he was just one of the staff members. If personal training is being advertised across the US, then make sure you have one at each location! This location is great. Planet Fitness is a great gym, if they have the equipment you need. Granted, there are no barbells. I've come at all times, except 3am-5am. The workers are always cleaning. Bathrooms, equipment, everything's clean and new for the most part. I've been to about 10 different gyms and this one has to be the cleanest. Also, all of the managers are incredibly helpful. The workers are always nice. You definitely get more than what you pay for. Even if you go once a week, it's a good deal. read more

I like this gym. I rejoined this club after a couple years once I began to have more time and for the past 3 weeks I have been enjoying it. For beginners, the equipment available is nice to use & so easy to learn how to use because of the scan to watch video tutorials on each one. I see reviews about it being dirty and this and that but I disagree. Everyone seems to do really well wiping down the machines after use (as we are supposed to). Women's locker rooms & bathrooms are actually pretty clean for the amount of people going in and out of the gym everyday. The staff are amazing and so welcoming every time I come in. I have never personally worked with a PF trainer, but I see them working with others and their passion & dedication to help people through their gym journey just makes my heart softer every time. I'd completely recommend this gym to anyone, especially beginners, I have not had any issues either of the times I was in this club. read more

HiThere's an old adage that says if you have time to lean you have time to clean. There's a whole lot of Leaning going on here and not a whole lot of cleaning I was a member of the YMCA for years and then decided to try to cut costs and never really considered Planet Fitness. However it is less than half of a single membership at the YMCA. Granted, you don't have a pool or disgusting steam room or rusted free weights but it's cool that 4 less than half you get a bunch of new equipment. Dumbbells only go up to 75 lb there is no free weight bench to speak of everything is Smith machine so if you're coming in and looking to get totally jacked probably not the place for you. It does have its fair share of retirees and people who are just trying to limp their way through a work out either on an elliptical machine or treadmill those seem to use the most I have a black card membership which means you can go to any Planet Fitness also you can use the tanning room and massage beds unlimited but I haven't really tried those yet. My biggest beef is the locker in bathrooms. Nearly every time I come in there there is at least four people standing behind the desk occasionally you'll find somebody out on the floor changing out the towels that are used to wipe down the machines. It seems like everyone is pretty good about wiping down after they workout but what they really should concentrate on is the lock room in the restrooms. They're pretty disgusting. Toilet paper all over the floor, looks like it hasn't been mopped in over a week overall pretty disgusting. In the locker room portion you can tell in the corners there is dirt piled up where they just don't seem to worry about sweeping before they mop. They should have a Sentry posted where the restroom is checked every half hour and clean didn't wipe down a whole lot more than it is now it's pretty bad. The workout area generally is pretty clean but I have to give it two Stars for the lack of cleanliness. I know it gets a lot of traffic but it should be as clean if not cleaner than my bathroom at home. There's no reason or excuse it can't be. I don't just give feedback on Yelp I also speak directly to the management because the sign in the restroom clearly says if you feel a restroom needs attention come tell us. I told them. I mean I get it. I know there's a ton of people in and out of there all day but you got to stay up on top of this stuff. read more

A *tiny* free weights section, but tons of machines. Plenty of cardio machines and a small area for non-machine cardio. This may sound good to some, but machines are a poor substitute if you want to develop strength and/or lose weight. Speaking to the staff, it was also clear that they knew very little about proper exercise methods of what kind of equipment is best to use. Then there's the free pizza, free bagels, and free candy. Every single freebie is fattening. That may sound great to some, and an occasional slice of pizza certainly isn't disastrous. The gym should not be providing this kind of temptation though, especially since their typical clients are the average Janes and Joes who need to control their dietary habits. PF is cheap, but that's almost the only reason to select this place -- and you get what you pay for. If you're out of shape, you'll save more money in the long run by spending more money on a better gym and getting your health under control. Very nice people work there, they have all types of excercising machines, for your legs, calves and stomach etc.

Most of the staff is very nice but there's rude ones that just ruin it, especially when it comes to the tanning beds.

This is not directed towards the staff. I also understand this P.F. is not responsible for anythong lost or stolen. I've always prided my family And I as honorable and honest (if I'm wrong I will delete this post) today I took my wedding ring off. I somehow forgot to put my wedding ring back. I realized later that I didn't have my ring on. I called the gym later this evening to see if anyone had turned in my ring. The staff member told me no one had turned it in. Well I guess it just goes to show the idea of integrity is a dying thing. A friend of mine informed me that his lock was picked and money stolen from his wallet..he did inform the police. Needless some individuals are less than honest. What disappointments many today that the lack of integrity when something is found is should be turned in to the lost and found so it can be returned to the rightful owner. It's not finders keepers. It's called being honest. To the person that took my wedding band all I can say is I forgive them. But it's a sad state of affairs that something like this will happen. This location is very clean and the always on top of regular maintenance. With the proper workout plant Planet Fitness will provide you with the necessary tools to develop good overall health. However, my biggest complaint is about the friendliness of the staff. I can't tell you how many times I have checked in at the front desk and no one says a word to me. How about a simple hello. Is it really too much to utter that word? I'm standing right in front of you. How can I feel welcome when it seems like you don't even want to me here? I've also noticed that the staff will go out of their way to engage clients that are young and attractive. I can't even get a courtesy greeting. How about some professionalism? Oh I guess that's what you expect from teenagers working behind the front desk. Please act more professional and make me feel welcome. read more

Worst place ever. They called the police to have me removed today simply because I was on am elliptical machine next to my 85 year old brother who is hearing impaired and lives with me. The attendant asked me to move to the next machine to maintain social distance and I pointed out to him that other available machines are right next to each other and people were congregating and not maintaining distance as well. I told him I would move once he corrected all the other infractions. So he called the police on me and had me removed. I will be cancelling my membership immediately. They are a bunch unprofessional kids in there with no supervision. I don't need that in my life. read more

'm traveling across the country stopping at Planet Fitness clubs along the way. There are little differences at each club-- especially for accessing black card services. I'm sorry to say I found yours particularly confusing and frustrating. I didn't notice the screen for sign up as I came in. After I changed into gym clothes I approached the desk and asked for a massage bed. I was told to sign up in the corner. I did. A sign there said to take a seat and wait for my name to be called. I did. I waited for a while then went to check the time on the sign in monitor. It was two minutes past my appointment. I went back to the beds but could not find the button on the wall that some places had and the bed wasn't on. A worker was showing people around. Since he was there and I thought it a quick fix I asked him to get it started for me. He didn't help but directed to the front desk. When I got there the worker was socializing so I just broke in and said-- "Hey! Can you get the massage bed started for me." Instead of saying something like-- "Yes." I got, "You have to come up." The worker repeated that phrase over and over as I told him, "I did come up, you knew I was going for a massage bed. " There was never any concession or apology made by the worker. read more

After being a member for a couple years I had to cancel my membership for outside reasons. On the day I canceled my membership, I noticed that my bank account was charged $41.73. I contacted my home location; I was told it was an annual fee charge and I would have to talk to the manager to get the money refunded. There was not a manager there so I was told to call back after 9am the next day. I did so and again there was no manager there. I explained my situation and I was assured a call back from a manager who would be able to refund my money. Didn't get a return call. I called yet again the next day. I was able to talk to a manager who told me that I missed the cut-off to cancel my membership by one week and that there was nothing they could do to refund the fee. I contacted PF member services - same response. Poor customer service if you ask me. Be sure to pay close attention to the small print on your contract (which they'll update periodically and just send you an email about). Nice gym. Everything is generally clean and operational. It doesn't seem ever to be "too busy" to find the machine you want.

Very clean gym. Locker rooms are very nice compared to some gyms. Works great for me and I love the hydrotherapy beds in the winter when I am cold and joints hurt! read more
