I first began spinning with TJ Fit when owner, Tracy Beardsley, was operating her studio on McLaren St. downtown. In 2005 she re-located to Barrhaven with most of her loyal clientele happy to drive a bit further to experience one of her classes and the passion that she brings to spinning. Many other studios will offer you a cookie-cutter approach to their classes. My knees certainly appreciate that Tracy checks and helps adjust our bikes and body position before getting started. In a recent class, she shared a wealth of information with us in one hour - proper hand and body positioning on the bike, proper spine alignment, coaching on heart-rate zones and cadence - all while injecting her trademark humour and supportive comments to each member of the class. Tracy brings a ton of personality and positive energy to each class, which is certainly something I appreciate when my heartrate is hittin' the high notes and my legs feel like lumber. Not only that, she's a fully certified personal trainer so really knows her stuff around all aspects of fitness. TJ Fit is at the head of the peloton when it comes to spinning classes in this town. If you want to have a gym where you have no nagging, no emails, no bull I would definitely spend the extra $20 and go to Goodlife or Movati. It is worth your buck! You get a ton of machines, pools, hot tubs, proper tanning beds, etc. All for an extra twenty loonies... I wish I would have made the better decision. Anytime Fitness is a very cheap gym, with not a lot of machinery to use. (Which is understood when signing up for it, I just didn't expect most of the machines to constantly be in use when I wanted them.) Goodlife or Movati you would have more selection, and more machines. Unfortunately, I cannot cancel my Membership. When signing up for the contract, I was told it was 3 months before I could cancel. Now I have emailed someone from the gym they're telling me 6 months. This is an inconvenience in my life because I would love to drop the Membership. But, instead, I will have to go until March. A few weeks ago, what started out as a misunderstanding, escalated for both the owner and I getting into an argument, where I am no longer a member there, nor will I ever return. I've taken the time to read some of the other bad reviews and can see how the owner (JP) has a total lack of customer service with his members there. He starts you out with an open end contract, where he believes you've handed him a Carte blanche cheque to your bank account where he can simply take money out at anytime. And the minute I challenged him or his staff, he calls me rude. I didn't use any vulgar or even insulting language in my complaint, yet he first cancelled my key-fob, without telling me, and when I complained further, he cancelled my membership, which I was going to do anyway, at that point. Not only does this owner lack total customer care, he's extremely dishonest and a real reactionary hot-head. Someone mentioned he use to be a used-car salesman. That is what you get there. A real slick seller of contracts with no service to back them up. This location is a prime example why gym memberships are the number one consumer complaints in Ontario.

You're paying for STD soup pools, bait-and-switch fees, and staff who gaslight you at the front desk. Want better? Literally anywhere else is cleaner, cheaper, and run by grown adults.
