Great and convenient gym. It's relatively clean and equipment in good condition. It has decent parking in certain hours (early to mid mornings or late evenings). Outside of that, parking can get pretty tight during peak hours. I especially appreciate that this location has a greater ventilation an ac system in the summer, even when the gym has a high count of people. I went to another location that was hot and was told it was due to the number of people in the gym. Anyway, I really enjoy this location. I always have a great work out when coming here. read more

I love this location but it is a bit small compared to others. The cardio equipment is the most updated of ANY Planet Fitness in the area, which is a huge draw for me. I'm able to pair my workouts to my Apple Watch! Love it! If you go at peak times, though, it's going to feel crowded, which is something I don't love. All of the equipment is quite close together and it can be a little awkward. The staff is super nice. So mostly positives! Just go outside of peak hours. read more

This is a really nice location! Small but nice. It has everything I need as my workout is for beginners. My hubster says they don't have enough weights for him to lift. I would like to see heavier weights so he can join me more. I like the newer machines they have! Since I'm a black card member, I enough the black card spa which is the hydromassage and the massage chair. I'm happy this place is open 24/7. My old gym closed on Sundays at 4 pm. I usually am running errands before 4 pm so this is great! Give this place a try! Be a black card member and bring a friend! Totally worth the membership! read more

The technology is full-body collagen lamps that use red light wavelengths to energize the skin's natural collagen and elastin. They told me to wear sunglasses if I was light sensitive. All four programs improve circulation, stimulate core muscles and promote muscle relaxation. Program 2 is medium intensity designed for beginners and ideal for ones starting a fitness program. When you go in machine/standup tube You think you are entering a stand-up tanning. The design is completely the same, including the hand bars to hold onto. I pressed the start button on the bottom and the lights came on and I was greeted by a voice that walks you through the process of turning the fan, the vibration and the music on. You have to use the left arrow the first click will tell you to adjust the fan using the up and down arrows. Then hit the left arrow again and you are told to pick your vibration program (use the up and down arrows) then click the left arrow again and this is music. (Use up and down arrows to select channel) hit left button again and you can turn the voice on or off. I left it on because she tells you when the warm up is over when the cool down starts and when the machine will stop vibrating. I never figured out how to turn the music up. (I know I just need to ask) #dontwanttogetdressedtoask I have only done program 3 but may try program 4 next time. #stuckononeprogram The sensation of the platform beneath my feet vibrating and jiggling parts of my body, that Jiggle without any help normally, was a little bit strange and awkward. The vibrations changed in intensity throughout the 10 minute program but it was really easy to get accustomed to each change. #shakewhatyourmamagaveyou The shaking stops after 10 minutes and you have about two minutes left of just the red lights. They say you are supposed to put special cream on before and after but I was also told you could us coconut oil or something like that. You are also told to drink water. So I have don this 4 times and can I tell a difference? Well the jury is still out on that one but even if it doesn't work you feel like you are shaking away stress. So to me that's a win! From what I read online it looks like you need to do this 3-4 times a week for several weeks. Good thing it is included in the planet fitness Black card membership. This place is great for beginners who want to start working out. This is not great for aspiring body builders. Beginners: they have personal trainers who will guide you through the machines, and have training sessions you can schedule. There is also a station with a quick 30m full body workout circuit that's pretty legit. A light goes on to let you know to begin, and turns red to let you know it's time to switch machines #Classy They have a link alert for those loud sweaty grunting gym rats who wear stringy tank tops. They literally have an alarm for this #Amazing (see pics). The funnels go up to 75lbs and there are no bench press free weights. Like I said, not for aspiring muscle heads. They have a decent amount of equipment so you can get a workout in but where they are lacking is not having barbell bench(s) or a simple bench to do dumbbell presses/any other seated work where you need back support. Planet Fitness gyms are a judgement free zone with a lunk alert alarm if you users start slamming weights, grunting, groaning, etc. Monthly fees range from 10-20 a month depending in whether you purchase a black card for access to massage chairs, hydro massages, or total body enhancement. There is also a yearly equipment upgrade fee of about $45 charged every year on your anniversary-of joining. A good value. The River Ridge location is smaller and doesn't have all the equipment of the Metairie location but parking is much better at River Ridge compared to Metairie. Both locations are open 24 hours though so if you go on off peak hours it isn't an issue. They also have fitness classes and personal trainers available. The thing about this location is that it is small, so it gets crowded very quickly. The crowd meter on the Planet Fitness app is definitely not a good indication of how crowded it is inside the gym. When there are three bars on the crowd meter, it is pretty crowded. And that is 3 out of 10 bars! I don't think the crowd meter is calibrated for the size of this particular location. Granted, there is usually room on a cardio machine, but if you go there primarily to lift, you will feel the crowding. I have often had to be staking out a machine to see when someone jumps off, so I can jump on right away before someone else does, and sometimes that doesn't even work. This is for machines that there is only one of in the gym. Otherwise it is okay. I will not go when there are 3 bars on the crowd meter. Not worth it. Other than the crowding, this location has been really good! It's nice to go in on a weekend or other times when people usually aren't there. It's clean and the people who work there have all been nice so far. read more

Called to cancel months ago and was told I can put my account on hold and then call back when I'm ready. I asked her if there are any charges involving having a membership on hold a.k.a. am I going to be charged anymore? She said absolutely not but a month later, they started billing me monthly for a membership that they led me to believe was on hold. I was thrilled to find out the gym was opening down the street. I had been going to Planet Fitness on Airline. This one is smaller, often with waiting time for machines. I can live with that. What I find disappointing is that the customer service is so poor. I was expecting the same kind of energetic, welcoming staff as the one in Metarie since they share the same owners. Instead, the employees looks low energy and sloppy. This morning there were two employees, and they never looked up from their phones. So glad I joined planet fitness. Thanks to the personal trainer I have a plan and have been making progress towards a healthier me. I recommend the Black Card membership. It has been great to treat myself to a relaxing massage after a workout and I bring a buddy with me to workout. The price is right. The equipment is easy to use and there's enough so you don't have to wait. The gym is spacious and clean. Bathrooms and locker areas are clean. The other members seem to adhere to the no judgement philosophy which makes for a nice supportive community especially for someone who might be self conscious about getting started in a fitness program. read more

they tell you, you can cancel at any time, but don't tell you there is a buy out fee. they up sell you to a higher plan. paid $24 monthly. to cancel cost another $58. BUT had i had the $10 monthly fee, there would be no cancelation fee. WTF! the more you pay the more you get screwed! so if you join, only pay the $10 price. in response to your answer.... yes i was aware of the monthly fee and annual fee. what was not disclosed is, if you are on a higher monthly fee, there is a buy out fee. with my history of intermittently going to a gym, I WOULD NEVER signed up for one with a buy out fee. it may be your policy to disclose that but it was NOT told to me. thats my red flag. i would have still joined but not at a higher rate. not to mention all the advertisements mention no memberships required. so when there are some plans that do require that its misleading. and should be directly expressed. so again, if anyone wants to join, only do so at the $10 rate. so you can cancel without penalty? read more

Honestly, this has been the most difficulty any gym has ever given me. All of the staff I have encountered are unfamiliar with how to appropriately solve an issue and very much lacking in customer service. I've contacted this gym multiple times, and have spoken with multiple employees (all the while my membership has been prepaid), and have gotten absolutely no answers. I've also called and left a message for the manager to give me a call back to have no return call, which is no surprise. I have addressed the same issue to them about my membership multiple times and they have always given me different answers. I have never felt more shamed to be at a gym I already paid for. If you're looking for a gym with good customer service and knowledgeable staff, I wouldn't go here. read more

Planet Fitness membership practices are very deceiving. The whole story about joining and canceling at anytime isn't true. We joined as black members being told we could downgrade at any time without penalty. Not true. We weren't using any of the black perks so decided to downgrade our membership. We were told at that time we would have to sign up for a full year without being able to drop out. We had no choice. Our year just came to an end and noticed a $42.59 fee on our credit card account. This was for the annual membership fee. We didn't receive any notification that our year was ending and would be charged this fee again. Make sure you know your anniversary date if you are thinking of quitting. We went in person today to resign. The staff wasn't much help and were unwilling to give any upper management contact information. There isn't any contact info on their app. Very disappointed in PF practices. Sad how deceiving they are in running this business. I thought they were different than other gyms sadly they are the same. Never again Planet Fitness. I'll be letting friends and family to beware and stay away from Planet Fitness! read more
