Do not join this gym. They are thieves. I gave them my debit card to bill monthly , first couple months no problem. Then , they started adding on a 15 per month late charge. WHAT? How can that be. This planet fitness is absolutely awesome. The workers are super friendly and make you feel welcome every single time you come in. They do their job perfectly, there is never a mess and very rarely an empty spray bottle. Also, the they are very good with the link alarm. I have almost never heard this alarm go off but i have also never heard anyone being a complete loud asshole in my couple months of going. Overall 10/10 read more

Don't plan on cancelling. I cancelled my Black card membership in October and was still charged for 2 months. I go in to get it fixed and still don't know if it is cancelled or not. Can't get a so called legal confirmation by email because their computer mysteriously isn't working properly. Have to go with their word again that it is cancelled... Point of sales is not that hard. I joined this gym because I need a gym that is open when I need it. I have a very busy schedule. Today I discovered they will no longer be open 24/7 but rather lesser hours. I was most disappointed because I stuck by them when they closed for Covid related reasons. I stuck by them when they closed because they moved the location. I even stuck by them when they recently raised their rates. Today I have to find a new gym. I don't think it will be a problem, just disappointed. Also, on the front door the notice says "24/5". I brought the manager over who seems competent and showed him the error. His excuse was it wasn't me. I didn't do it corporate did. He refused to correct the sign to read 24/4, which is correct. read more

I have been a member for years and will be canceling whenever someone allows me. If you want a gym membership, I'd highly recommend thinking twice about joining the Boardman location. The girl was short with me and rude, she was no help at all. They definitely need to train the staff in how to communicate with the guest who keep them running. I absolutely love the Boardman Planet Fitness. It is the perfect workout atmosphere with helpful staff members and affordable prices. Every time I walk in to Planet Fitness, I am greeted by several staff members. Employees are friendly and work hard to make everyone feel welcome. I love the wide variety of equipment and the fact that it is always clean and in working order. This place is huge and there are tons of machines, so you rarely ever have to wait for one. In addition, there are lots of TV's and motivating music to keep you entertained during your workout, as well as large fans to keep you cool. A basic membership is only $10 a month, which is super affordable compared to most gyms. I would highly recommend the Boardman Planet Fitness. I have a wonderful experience every single time that I'm there. read more

Staff members are so unfriendly. I paid fees twice. I just came to there to cancel my membership. One of the guy said we cannot cancel your membership until your annual agreement renew. After couple of months I came to there to cancel it then I checked my account and I saw they took another fee . I explained to them . Nobody listened to me. Plus, it is unfair to get annual fees twice. I wanted my money back . They did not refund it. So , I strongly do not recommend that place to have it. This location has, over the 3 or 4 years I've been a member, steadily become more and more neglected. I've literally taken pictures of the filth in the tanning rooms to show other people who ask me which gym they should go to (as in: Not this one!) I'm fairly sure the same ball of hair and and dust has been behind the door of the number 8 tanning booth for a few months now. I leave my socks on and feel like I need to wash my hands after touching anything in there. Even the WALLS are filthy. The paper towel dispenser in I think #6 or #9 has been broken for A YEAR. The water fountain in the main room is broken. It sits there with a mop bucket under it and has for months now. The water bottle filling station looks like a bacteria farm. It's gross. If I didn't live 3 minutes away from the Boardman location and 40 away from Niles, I'd go to the Niles location every time. In fact, I work at a hotel in Austintown. It's 15 minutes to either location. Guess where I send every guest who asks where to find a gym while they're travelling? Niles. I rarely see the same employee more than once, but no matter who it is, they generally look like they're just waiting for someone to put them out of their misery. Honestly, I'm not the sort who expects or really even cares much about a super friendly staff, but if you're not going to take the time to say hello to me or ask me about my day, could you at least sweep something? I hope someone takes the reins at this location. I really do like Planet Fitness - I like the atmosphere, the hours, the price, the equipment...I'm just on the brink of looking for another place to work out because I don't like walking out of a place feeling filthy. I like this PF a lot. I usually go to the Alliance one, but they have a few more things to choose from here in Boardman. It's also a little more high-tech. For example, for tanning, etc. you sign up on the touch screen. You have to fill out a sheet at the one I usually go to. They have a nice seating/waiting area with a TV where my sister waited for me to finish tanning. They have lots of machines to choose from and I like the way the areas are separated. It looks small from the outside but it really opens up in the back. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend trying it! I was happy with my experience. read more

If I lived in the area or even close to one of these facilities I would probably go. I go with a friend when I am in town because it's included in his membership. Perks: 24 hours! I like this place- they keep it clean, everything is in working condition. The staff are helpful. Minus 1 star because nobody ever gave me a tour, and I have a black card membership and have no clue how to use the massage bed or chair, and by the time I get there they are packed and the staff are busy and it takes forever to hunt them down. BEWARE of the fine print! I hate to bash a company but I was so upset -I felt I had to share. I opened a Planet Fitness membership over ten years ago for both my son and I ( in which I have auto -pay for membership fees and dues removed from my checking account) and cancelled my membership about a month ago since i moved. I stopped at the local Planet Fitness to cancel my son's and they said you have to cancel through the one where you opened. They said, all I had to do is send a certified letter to Boardman and they would cancel. Below is the response I got from the Planet Fitness manager in Boardman after receiving my certified cancellation note. Good Afternoon, This e-mail is to confirm that we have received the cancellation for (my son's name was here) and his membership is cancelled. His last payment will come out on October 1st for his annual fee ($31.10), which we would've needed cancellation notification by the 25th of September to avoid that charge as stated in the membership agreement. The $10 per month basic membership fee (there's also a $20 per month fee with more perks) is less than half of all gyms in the area. In terms of value, a membership to PL is easily the best value in that area. I found all the gym equipment to be extremely clean (perhaps, in part, because this was a brand new location). At almost every workout, there was a staff member walking around and cleaning the machines. Showers and lockers were also extremely clean. Mirrors and counters kept clean by the staff. The location did get busy the few times I went between 5pm and 7pm on weekdays, but I never waited for a cardio machine. During my usual workouts, before noon, I had my choice of cardio and weight machines. Staff was nice, always cordial at check in. After that, they pretty much leave you alone during your workout (as it should be, IMO) unless you require assistance. The unit on each cardio machine that allows members to plug in headphones is a life saver. It really helps in terms of boredom while doing continual cardio. The circuit workout is a nice touch. I eventually canceled my membership due to moving (canceling in person was painless and easy). I've looked at other gyms in my new area, but they weren't even close in comparison to the Planet Fitness in Boardman, especially in price. I just found out there is a PL opening a few miles from my home, already signed up. read more

The overnight gentleman Johnny is a one of a kind employee.. I always witness him working and helping members. One time i lost my wallet and he searched all over that huge gym until he found it. It wasn't the money or the credit cards that mattered to me it was i kept the last note in it that my husband wrote me before he died in Iraq. This place has gotten so bad. The staff stands around socializing with each other or on their cell phones while multiple tanning bed tags sit in the fish bowl, and the bathroom stalls are disgusting. The tanning beds are so gross I wear my socks. I dont know who would ever use a lay down bed. Poor management!! Just BC it's $20/month doesn't mean it has to be dirty and disgusting. read more

great gym for people who are younger and want to start getting into working out or people who only need the basics. i always see workers cleaning and making sure everything is in order. the new couches and screens in the lobby look amazing, too. my only personal grievances with this location are that they don't enforce their rule about terminating memberships when people don't properly use the circuit rooms and half the time, there are wrappers in the cup holders of machines. those things aren't major by any means but if they were corrected, my experience here would be even better. read more

I have been a member ever since planet fitness opened in Boardman Ohio and I love it. The staff is always friendly and always says goodbye when i'm leaving. The gym is always clean and the equipment is very accessible regardless how busy it gets. Whenever a piece of equipment is not operating correctly I tell the staff and it is taken care of. I are so happy that there's Jim has opened in Boardman and I will continue to be a frequent member. read more
