Came in for a Mirena IUD and when I tell you I WAS SCARED. Came in expecting the worst, had to wait a bit which was expected. Brought my fiancé with me for emotional support (bless his soul). For preface I am a virgin and waiting until marriage so I knew this was going to be painful before hand. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Once I went in Nancy was so sweet and obv cared about my comfort and helping me understand what was gonna happen.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I requested the lidocaine shot (GOD SEND) and it helped so much. I felt so bad bc I was shaking and crying but Nancy was trying her best and being as supportive as possible.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I also have high functioning anxiety and was struggling to relax. They played relaxing music, she let me get as comfortable as possible and honestly such a good experience on planned parenthood's end. For the IUD it hurt but now I'm good for 8 years so totally worth it. So I came here EARLY at 3pm with an appointment for 3:30pm and I did not get seen for my appointment until their CLOSING time like 5 minutes before 5pm. I thought If I had knocked out the paperwork before 3:30 that they may actually service me AT THE TIME I SCHEDULED FOR. I came in and there were about 20 people in their waiting room, I was the LAST customer to leave their building. So if you're going to an appointment be prepared to wait about 2 hours. Their wait time is not clearly advertised which is annoying especially if you are pregnant or you have medical conditions which makes waiting on a plastic chair, closely surrounded by other people, very VERY uncomfortable. They definitely need to work on their time management skills. HOWEVER, the lady I finally saw was very sweet I did like her, her name was Joselyn and she took great care of me. I have never been treated by someone so badly. I am 23 years old and have been having increasingly painful periods for the last two years. I mean in the way that I take four Advil I can't sleep, and my legs sometimes seize up to the point that I struggle walking. Finally in January I decided after to talking to friends that I think something is wrong. After going to my school nurse she recommended me to check out a planned parenthood (this planned parenthood) to see if they could shed any light on what's going on because the school nurses are limited in what they can do. So I took the soonest appointment, March 1st at 8:50 am. It just happened to be that I just started my cycle again around this time. After meeting with the nurse practitioner, they asked me about who I have sex with, men or women I said women. Shortly after this the doctor came in and made some pretty snarky comments at me. At this point I found out there wasn't allot they could do because I was on my period, not that I had planned to be on it, I just took the soonest appointment I could get. She asked me why I was there, kind of in accusingly tone. She said, "so what? You want an exam or you want birth control because I don't understand what's going on here." I wanted to talk to a doctor about my reproductive health because I think there might be something wrong but apparently planned parenthood doesn't do that sort of thing. When I started to tell her what was going on she interrupted me and went on to say "you know we don't prescribe pain meds" to which I replied " I'm not here for pain meds, I am just here for help" then she went on to ask me "When was the last time you had IV use?" I felt like I was being accused of being a drug addict. Then she asked " have you heard of Advil?" And kind of laughed following up with the question. Like really Advil? YES I HAVE HEARD OF ADVIL WOW THANK YOU SO MUCH. Dr - "you really have never been on birth control?" Fshe said this in a tone as if Its crazy that I had never been on birth control because I am 23 years old even though I already had told her that I AM A LESBIAN! Birth control is not something I really had ever put a thought to or considered. I ended up walking out crying. I'm not sure why she acted that way and was being so rude but my guess is they don't get allot of lesbians in the clinic and didn't know how to react. Once again this post is probably not going to help many as I think most gay people already know it's difficult to get healthcare in general, and I knew about people discriminating against gay people but I never had it happen to me and I definitely didn't expect it from here. read more

To preface, this review has nothing to do with the assistants or front office faces - they've all been incredibly nice and understanding the few times I've been to this location. This is solely based on the doctor named Nancy. She has absolutely no empathy or understanding of patient needs, concerns, or information. I came here to refill my pill, and let's be honest, I'd rather not have had to go here but I'm in-between insurance right now which has been a battle in and of itself. I made it very clear during my recent visit before this one that I needed to make sure I could have a match to the pill I was getting with my insurance previously l, as it works best and has no side effects, and after some review and discussion, they were able to help me three months ago at PP to get a match. This time was a no go. I'm diabetic and have been on this specific pill type for almost 15 years, my doctors prior to not having insurance are all very well aware I've had diabetes for almost 31 years and have always agreed this pill works for me, my body, and my blood sugars. When I expressed this, this time around, to Nancy, she informed me she was not allowed to give me the pill again because I've had diabetes for over 20 years, like that's my choice, because the mix of the pill isn't allowed for long term diabetics and would have to give me one of their pop pills. I explained to her that the pop ones make me feel terrible, make my blood sugars crazy even when doing my best with them, and overall do not work for my needs and body and if it's worked for me for so long, it didn't make sense to give me one that doesn't work for me. She then questioned why I was at PP and I explained I was between insurance and this was my option at the moment. To which she condescendingly said I could "try again for what I want" when I have insurance, stated my doctors I've had for almost 15 years were wrong and needed to rethink their choice to let me use this pill, and that it didn't matter that her option wasn't good for me, she wouldn't allow my normal pill. She then looked at my Dexcom sensor on my arm for DIABETES not for birth control, and asked "well if you don't have insurance how do you have that then...?" in the most judgmental tone, to which I replied that I pay out of pocket for it and why does it matter how I have it if I'm at PP, not somewhere for diabetes. It was incredibly unprofessional of her to question ANYTHING about my health other than the reason I was at PP and it shouldn't be any of her business how I go about getting the life saving supplies I need for an entirely unrelated medical condition. By that point I was angry and felt very poorly treated and made a comment questioning her ability to help me, to which she walked out and slammed the door in my face. I admit, probably shouldn't have said what I said, but as a medical and health professional, you're bound to deal with people who are upset when they try to advocate for themselves and aren't heard and if you can't have an ounce of empathy for that, you're probably in the wrong business. This was by far one of the worst experiences I've had with health personnel. read more

Today was my second time coming to this clinic and I always feel safe and welcomed by them. They answered all my questions without making me feel judge by any of them. They gave me thorough explanations. They also helped me get what I needed at no cost to me because of low income and they also provided me information on how I can get insured in the future. This visit exceeded my expectations and made it very easy to get my birth control refill. This was by far the best planned parenthood I have ever experienced. I had some complications with what I had originally scheduled an appointment for. I went in for one thing and we discovered xyz. I had to come in weekly to have my blood drawn. I felt like I was reeeeally getting to know the nurses. Lol YES people will check in after you and go in before you. Common sense ladies. Some people are jus going in to get a test result read, some are Pap smear, some are jus getting free birth control. Wait your turn, have patience all appointment take a different amount of time. If your appointment is going to require a longer amount of time, expect to wait a little longer. It's jus the reality. read more

Don't go here if you're LGBTQ+, or a person of color. The providers here are aggressively inconsiderate of patients needs. When i tried making a report about my experience, the manager was extremely dismissive of my experience and hung up on me as soon as i mentioned my lawyer would be in touch. The providers will incorrectly document their procedures--which means it has to be re-done-- and blame the patient for their own carelessness. This place is only good if you're a straight white woman. And for everyone else with similar experiences, i recommend filing a Civil Rights complaint. read more

I Came in to get my IUD removed and I was extremely nervous coming in but Debbie (Debra) made me feel very safe, welcomed, and explained to me everything I needed to know as well as answered all my questions no matter personal or "silly" the question was she was incredibly kind, professional, and accurate. I came in to get a copper IUD. I was assisted by Amanda here and she was over and beyond amazing. She made me feel really comfortable and informed on all the questions and concerns I had. I don't have anyone to ask for advice for something so important like this decision and she was really helpful in a way that I needed. The lady that gave me the IUD I forgot her name but she was extremely nice and talked me through the whole process and yes it did hurt but it felt nice that I knew what was going to be happening. When it comes to reproductive health, finding what you need is stressful and sometimes embarrassing. I have been visiting Planned Parenthood for over 15 years and they never fail to assist with my personal needs. I visited the Roseville location yesterday to get annual STD/HIV testing and it was a breeze. Made an appointment for 11:30am and was in and out in under an hour! I am shocked to read poor reviews about this location because I have been to some sub-par clinics, and this one does not fit that build. Sure, it's small and not super "up-to-date" chic, but I am not looking for a flashy experience... I am looking for solutions! Cynthia was my nurse and Brittany was my clinician. They were both warm and helpful during the process. I ended up having a pelvic exam to be on the safe side, and Brittany was calm and reassuring. It's never easy to expose yourself (literally) when it comes to sexual history, but that's what they are there for. We are all human, and they understand that by providing various services. And guess what, they gifted me with a goodie bag full of condoms and a Plan B pill! Dr. Debbie is the shhhizznit. She is so friendly and nice! I come here for my annual exams and birth control. The staff here is always friendly and greet me with a smile. The nurses and doctor always make me feel welcome and comfortable while I'm here. The waiting room has never been empty but there's plenty of cold water and a movie playing for everyone while they wait. Sometimes they get busy and you have to sit there for a while even if you have an appointment but take into consideration the important work they do here everyday. Dr. Debbie is the sweetest thing and she really makes my experience great every time I come here. She makes sure you are taken care of and listens to your every concern. I've heard horror stories about other women visiting their OBGYN and feeling uncomfortable or judged but you won't get that from Debbie. She's a sweetheart! read more

Worst customer service. The nurses are very friendly but the receptionists need to learn some people skills. They are always super rude and give you sassy remarks. All I want to do is schedule an appointment but they make it way too difficult and when you ask them a simple question they give you a snooty remark. Not going here again. Also when I went to fill out paperwork for myself it asked what nationalities I was. I put down Asian because well duh I'm Asian and the lady at the front desk looked at me and said "don't you mean to put down Hispanic" and I replied to her back and said, "I'm not Hispanic I'm Asian." Then she said under her breath, "are you sure?" I am pretty sure I know what ethnicity I am. I scheduled an appointment today and I am so disgusted by their service again. I never thought I'd step into a Planned Parenthood, but when you need some testing done fast this is the place to go. I called and was told the only appointment available was in 10 days. I tried to get a quick appointment at "traditional" testing centers and didn't get find a better alternative. I was told to come in as early as possible (since I didn't have an appointment) and just wait. I slept in a bit and didn't make it in until almost 9:30 a.m. I walked in and was given a wait time of 4 hours - the employee told me that they overestimate just to be safe. Four hours is long, but not as bad as almost two weeks. At around 12:15, I was called in and got my tests done. After a urine sample, finger prick and some annoying questions I was ready to pay. I was quoted $60 for what I needed, but then told $85 at the payment counter. The additional $25 was due to a "doctor's visit" fee or something. Money wasn't an issue, but it would've been nice if the person that quoted me the price would've told me about all the fees. Other than that I have no complaints. They have movies playing all day long and tons of magazines to read while you wait. read more

We called, informed them of the issue, and made an appointment. After a one hour wait, and filling out paperwork, the very rude staff informed her that "Planned Parenthood doesn't do prenatal care. I love this place. It's one of the cleaner, less crowded PP's in the area. The services they offer are extensive and amazing, and either CHEAP or free! HUGE benefit to a starving college student like myself. They even do blood tests for cholesterol and anemia. I have even gotten antibiotics here for UTIS! Huge bonus. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5, was the wait. I make appointments every single time I go. Still I end up waiting over 45 min to be seen. This is one of the most horrible experiences I've had and the last visit I will be paying to any Planned Parenthood in the future. I scheduled an appointment for an annual exam because I've been concerned about some body changes that point to menopause although I'm still too young for it. I went in and filled out the paper work. One of the women in the office first asked several times how to pronounce my mother's maiden name. After this she asked me if I was sure if I wouldn't put Hispanic origin. This confused me since I'm of Irish descent and none of my names signify anything other than that. If that doesn't make it clear perhaps my blond hair, green eyes, and pale skin should of given it away. I think I clearly know what my family heritage is better than this foolish and rude woman. After this I waited and finally got called back where I was asked many personal questions. I was told to undress and put on the paper coverings they have you wear during a physical. The nurse left and I was waiting a good half hour before the doctor came in. The doctor told me after undressing and all this wait that she wouldn't be performing my annual exam because it hadn't been three years. It had only been two and a half although I had health concerns. I was floored because you have me undress, get ready for the exam, leave me waiting half an hour to come in and tell me you won't be administering what I'm there for. She offered to take blood work though. I declined. After all this I still had to pay a sixty dollar fee for the doctor's ten minutes of time to tell me she wouldn't be administering an exam I needed done. Yes, great experience. I used to support Planned Parenthood, but this experience seriously makes me question what exactly I have been supporting. First and last time I will be using PP for anything. The one reason why I was left having to use PP is because my primary care provider closed their office and I don't have insurance. I can't afford the plans offered through the affordable care act, and I needed medical attention. It has really left me feeling helpless and unsure of where to exactly turn.
