Won't be going back. I bought several bottles of liquor for a party I had and went to return a couple of extra closed bottles purchased one day prior with receipt. Cashier was ready to give me a refund but the manager told him, "No Refunds." So I stop into Plantation for a couple bottles of wine and a specific version of it, and I was thrilled to find that they carried my selection. The prices were reasonable, nothing overly pricey or cheap, and I found what I needed in a relatively short amount of time. The space was open and nice and I thought "not bad" and decided to keep browsing a bit longer. As I'm sorting through the sparking wines, I hear a high pitched very strange noise like a recording or alarm but it's not quite either and I can't place the sound. It's ear piercing in fact, and I am at the far end of the store by the refrigerated section. I was fearful that something was going on and made my way to the register while attempting to cover my ears and not drop the precious bottles of wine. To my dismay, there was a parrot or some kind of domesticated bird sitting in a cage by the register making what I thought was gibberish racket but turned out to be saying "what's your order" in a creepy recording like voice that birds have. I don't like birds, and I sure don't like birds at a store where I am shopping. I found out from my mom that they apparently have a variety of animals in this liquor store; a dog, cat, etc. So if you enjoy animals and want to talk to a parrot friend, I'd say this is your store. But may I suggest a name change? Old McDonald's Booze Farm. read more

Went to search for a particular Ole Smoky cream that was seasonal up in Gatlinburg and to my excitement Plantation Fine Wine & Spirits had it! That Ole Smoky Pumpkin Spice Cream is hard to come by being seasonal. Plantation Fine Wine & Spirits always has everything I'm looking for, and they are super friendly when you come in! I cannot give a five star review because there is not enough product at this location I'm sure they would order anything you wanted but they do not have it on hand. A little bit more expensive than the other liquor stores nearby. Bottles are priced two or three dollars more than other places. The staff are very nice and friendly though, and it is in a great location. The store is always very organized and the staff members are more than happy to help you find something. read more

Used to be a good place to buy liquor locally. However found out that their prices were $5 more than BlueGrass liquors which is just down the road! Also the last time we stopped as a convenience, my wife was given a hard time regarding ID although the clerk knew both of us well! My wife made repeated trips to the car to get my ID & her ID before the idiotic clerk let my wife make a purchase. Needless to say we won't be going back! Their loss is Blue Grass liquor's gain!! read more

The store was need and organized. There where no issues with the pace at all. Lack of what I was looking for was the only downside. I like this place, it's a nice and open space. I would come back here. While they did not have what I was looking for, they did have other items I had not seen before. read more

As I have said many times, I only review liquor stores based on their selection of whiskeys. This liquor store seemed average in most respects, but with a limited selection of whiskeys. The prices here were higher than they are at Bluegrass, just down the street and the guy working there seemed too busy watching TV to acknowledge my presence until the way out. To add insult to injury, all the whiskeys were mixed together - Irish with Canadian with Bourbon with Tennessee etc. Definitely not my favorite store read more

Plantation is not my go to liquor store for bar restock trips. For one, their whiskey (scotch, bourbon, TN, etc.) selection is less than stellar and their wine prices don't really rock my world either. Other spirit selection is decent with the major options but organization here doesn't appeal to me. The customer service has always been friendly, never had any complaints in that regard. My main reason for opting for this option is location--if I happen to be in the area and need a pint or a bottle of wine for the evening it's good for quick in and out trips. read more

Okay.....in response to some previous posts, what kind of person gets that upset about a bird (in a cage, no less) and a sweet dog (arthritic I think) in a liquor store? Are you an animal hater? Not a big friend of our feathered and furry friends I suspect. Find a shrink and get over your obviously neurotic fear of animals. I mean, it's not like you're in a restaurant where there is open food or drink. You know, you do have to carry those sealed bottles outside the store where some microbe or something might accidentally brush up against the glass/plastic exterior of the pressure sealed bottles. Good grief, what some people will worry about, and then base an opinion of a liquor store on. It's a liquor store! With regards to the whiskey selection, I agree it is somewhat limited compared to larger stores like Bluegrass, but unless I'm looking for something special it doesn't matter. They always have my favorite middle of the road brand, that I buy every other Friday. If I want a 25 year old Macallen at a good price, I'll go to Frugal MacDougals, not anywhere in Sumner County (including Bluegrass or The Copper Still). Copper Still is way over-priced on a lot of things in my opinion. My usual purchase is only a dollar more expensive than at Liquor World in Gallatin, and Plantation is American owned. I support American owners whenever I can. Finally, I live in Gallatin. I don't drive through the middle of Hendersonville every day, so it doesn't make sense to go to Bluegrass. I'd spend more in gas and time getting off of Vietnam Vets to go to Bluegrass than I spend on the minuscule price increase at Plantation. This is a great store. The counter folks aren't exactly chatty (I think one of them may be the owner), but I don't care. I'm buying booze. This isn't a visit to the doctor's office or Crate & Barrel. How much bedside manner do you expect in a liquor store? They are always nice, and quick when you check-out. If you're looking for animal free, red carpet treatment, and a wine concierge, this isn't your store. If you just want a decent price for a nice bottle of wine or liquor, that you purchase from an American business owner, you need to start shopping here. read more

I was very excited to see a high quality liquor store as I love to search for new and interesting bourbons. I was looking for a bottle of 82nd Airborne Bourbon to give as a gift to a buddy for his birthday who served in that unit. They had a bottle sitting in a very nice glass case. When I asked to price I was floored. It was 199.00. In fact every other bottle they had displayed was at Gray Market price and in fact they had 5 other bottles of the 82nd sitting on the shelf (hardly rare). I ended up purchasing the bottle just to give it for my buddy. But after a quick google search showed another local liquor store had it for 129.00. I felt like a sucker. I get applying a premium, but fleecing your customers is no a good business practice.Stores like this take to fun out of searching for that bourbon gem. Moral of the story is I'll never shop there again and they lost a really good customer. read more

Excellent selection, good prices, very friendly staff! Even if I don't really know what I'm looking for, the kind folks there are always very nice and give me good suggestions for my price range, without aggressive up-selling. The store always looks spotless. The staff members remember regulars and one of them, August, even remembers my favorite drinks! I always feel welcome here. NO pressured up-selling, NO silly rewards-membership-program-whatever, NO following behind you to constantly ask questions, NO long sales rants about how what you REALLY want is twice the price! They actually leave you alone to browse, thank goodness! But are always happy to give help if you need it. This is what southern hospitality is about! read more

While this is a well stocked store with a great bourbon selection, I am completely stunned at the markup on their selection. I recognize that liquor retailers have to sell a lot of junk brands for the distributorships to allocate them bottles of the 'good stuff', but what Plantation is doing in their markup is frankly insulting. While the MSRP for a bottle of 1792 Aged Twelve Years is $50, Plantation is selling it for $399!! That's an 8x markup for those of you public school math kids like me. I can understand some measure of markup since you had to sell a ton of crappy Fireball bottles to get those desirable higher end products, but you're sure driving my business other places who don't play that game; or at least not to that extent. Sadly, I spend a lot each week collecting great bourbons of all kinds, but I will not be spending another cent at Plantation until they change their pricing policies. read more

This is an update to my previous review. The store is now under new ownership and the new employees are MUCH more courteous and helpful. The selection and prices are still the same as before. Below is my original review: Prices are high, the selection isn't as good as it appears, and the staff is rude. I asked the cashier if they ever stock cruzan blackstrap. His condescending reply was, "no we try to steer away from the cruzan and other party rums like it." Ok for one thing, I couldn't care less what they serve at parties; I am an introvert and haven't been to a party in years. I prefer to make myself a rum and coke and read a good book which is exactly what I was planning to do that evening. Whether or not it's a cheaper rum, I like the way it tastes. I am not pretentious enough to think that the more expensive something is, the better it tastes. Secondly, the few parties I have been to, they usually served captain Morgan or parrot bay which I'd like to point out, plantation had multiple selections of captain Morgan. Hypocrites. I'll take my business elsewhere even if I have to drive farther. read more

I can tell several reasons not to go here! Go to Bluegrass, Pour Vous, or any other liquor store in Summer County. This is my second visit. My first I was greeted by a younger gentleman. Very nice and asked if I needed any help. The prices are a bit higher than their competitors and last night the two goofs working there were very rude. the older gentleman did not speak although my friend and I spoke to him first in unison. when asked if there was a certain Asian plum wine available we got the ugliest expression that you can imagine. They literally had one brand(not the one I asked for). So we heard some foot steps turned around it was a old looking dog. Noticed the huged bird cage. But the older ratchet goof ball woman looked and us and didn't smile. When I asked her did they have a wine chiller to sit the wine in to chill she in her most nastiest tone said no you are going to have to go elsewhere and get that. WTF?? She talked to me as if I insulted her by asking if they had a wine chiller. Her answer threw me off cause clearly she wasn't paying attention and clearly she didn't give a da*n if we were paying customers. That place needs to go. maybe they feel because they are 40 miles outside of Nashville they can have any contacts in their business and they can treat anyone outside of their race any kind of way read more
