It has the right feel and appearance now, and the young country boys who staff the joint are friendly, helpful and attentive. The place is well lilt and there is ample parking. Due to the location on the eastern edge of Gallatin, they're distanced from competition and thus the prices are a little higher than what you'll find in Hville or Nashville, but nothing outrageous. Part of the renovation was the inclusion of cigars and a walk-in humidor, but on this portion I think they underperformed. The humidor is small, the selection limited and the prices high. I'll still give them a try because the discount tobacco store a few miles away often has dried out cigars, but I found the $3 a cigar premium offensive. What is most disappointing to me about this location is the background music selection. Every time I visit they are playing gangster rap style music. I've complained about it. I mean, this is redneck central. This isn't even the hipster side of Gallatin. There are more trucks than minivans on this side of town, more tractors than you can count, and you're more likely to see the Stars and Bars being flown from a Ford F-150 than than the Yankee flag, and yet the staff tells me the owner insists on playing music that would be apropos in Bordeaux or Memphis. It's a minor thing, but indicates to me the management doesn't understand their demographic. I've asked the staff about it and they say the prefer Hank Williams or Johnny Cash, but the owner insists. So, note to owner: fix your music selection. Granted, the ghetto is geographically close, but your 'other' clients spend more per visit.

It's ear piercing in fact, and I am at the far end of the store by the refrigerated section. I was fearful that something was going on and made my way to the register while attempting to cover my ears and not drop the precious bottles of wine. To my dismay, there was a parrot or some kind of domesticated bird sitting in a cage by the register making what I thought was gibberish racket but turned out to be saying "what's your order" in a creepy recording like voice that birds have. I don't like birds, and I sure don't like birds at a store where I am shopping. I found out from my mom that they apparently have a variety of animals in this liquor store; a dog, cat, etc. So if you enjoy animals and want to talk to a parrot friend, I'd say this is your store. I choose the George Dickel Single Barrel 15 year and couldn't decide on another one. I asked the gentleman at the front. I didn't get his name, but he was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. The George Dickel is actually 18 years ole and he opened a sample bottle and gave me a taste. How awesome. I was interested in the Bardstown Black or White Label and Old Forester / Michener's or something. Sorry if I got that wrong. He recommended the Bardstown and said the Black was very smooth. He wasn't kidding. That Bardstown Black is my new best friend. Excellent on the rocks. I would definitely recommend and return if in the area looking for spirits!
