When I discovered Hughes it was several years ago when the Hughes family owned it. They always had lots of healthy inventory (15+ packed greenhouses). I was just there this past week and yikes!! What happened? Beautiful French jazz music to shop by, very nice room dedicated to fertilizers, insecticides and the like, friendly youngsters willing to try to help, very nice selection of pots. Problem was that it looked like Lowes with good music. The prices are high (like Lowes), they were down to 2 or 3 greenhouses. Many of the plants are more geared to other parts of the country. And not lots of relevant plants for East Texas. Their vegetable selection sucked, especially tomatoes and peppers. Even so, I managed to drop $250 because the plants were healthy and I didn't feel like stopping at another nursery (I need to get plants in the ground now). I won't be back though.

I stop by 7/8/26 and met Chelsea Coffman she made my transaction so easy and not complicated. Gave me my reward with out a problem. She very pleasant and I was able to stay calm through it all. My experience with the older blue hair woman was very stressful and the new younger girl were rude. Seem to be a big turn over of employees. I hope DSW will continue to keep Chelsea, she's very professional and does her best to satisfy DSW customers. I always get compliments on my shoes and will continue to be a referral to DSW.

There are some bargains, but for the most part, it looks like the aftermath of a garage sale in an…read moreundesirable part of town. There is a lot of trash strewn across the parking lot. The store is crammed and stacked with all kinds of items..some stuff that has surpassed its shelf life. No order, and the staff is okay but you get the idea they are just hired help without much training. I would go there again I suppose because they do have some real bargains if you don't mind digging. The store has no curb appeal, no entry appeal either...and I am not a person that will dig through anything to save a buck. But hey..if you are, you'll love the store. Not a place for kids..too much stuff to slide, fall, and otherwise threaten the walkway. Good luck getting your squeaky cart down all the aisles.
