I am a small business owner in Rindge, NH and I have unfortunately had 2 extremely poor experiences…read morewith this so called family run business. First, I had visited their landscape yard in FItzwilliam for a job that I was doing just down the road in Winchendon, MA. It was a Thursday morning and their advertised hours were 8:30-5:30. This job was time sensitive and I was required to finish it early that day. I waited until 9:30 and no one showed up on site. I returned later that day to find a small 8"x8" sign leaning against a gate pole which stated "closed sick day" written in black marker. Really? The second and final extremely poor experience I went to the landscape yard to purchase mulch for a job that I was doing just over the Fitzwilliam/Rindge town line, exactly 6 miles away. I needed quite a bit of mulch and Holman's was the closest place. They advertise in the local paper a special that includes free delivery within the towns of Fitzwilliam, Richmond, and Troy. I asked if they would consider delivering the large quantity of mulch I needed for free because I was only 6 miles away. "Chris", the boy who was working at the time laughed and said that the advertisement was very clear and that he couldn't do it. I didn't argue with him because it was right there in the paper. However, their proposition or catch phrase on their website, and in their ads is "We go the extra mile, one yard at a time." This left me no choice but to consider returning 4 more times to pick up the mulch I needed. The second time I returned, the boy that was working gave me a hard time about how I had parked my truck. I moved my truck into the position that he wanted. He then proceeded to fill my truck will much smaller buckets of mulch than the previous visit. I questioned it to the boy "Chris" and I was told that it was the same size bucket that he gave me the last time. He also stated that I could go somewhere else if I wanted to and laughed. I did just that. I had enough. I went to Ground Up Landscape Materials in Swanzey and received the absolute BEST customer service!!!! I now use Ground Up in Swanzey, or Powell's in Winchendon! Holman Landscape Materials has the highest prices, the WORST customer service, and less than desirable quality materials. The fact that they state "We go the extra mile, one yard at a time", well that's insulting! I will never use this outfit again. As a long time business owner myself, I am glad that we have places like Yelp to share our experiences. Word of mouth is the best form of advertising, good or bad. I will take precious time out of my day to share. I'm just a b!@#h like that!
