Whether you need a place to take the kids for a few hours, have a fun group activity with friends, go on a sweet date or just spend some personal time with yourself, Plasterminds is a wonderful place to go. Plasterminds is located on Gunn Highway, in the same plaza as Latin Market and Carrollwood Players Theatre. There's usually plenty of parking right by the pottery place. Inside, it's bright, clean and welcoming, especially nice when it's hot outside. The concept is super easy - come in, select a blank item (called a bisque), choose your paints and create your masterpiece! The price of the item is on the bottom and includes everything, no extra fees tacked on, no limit on colors either. There a wide variety of bisque items, paints, brushes, stencils, sponges to choose from. A week (max) later, you have a one-of-a-kind that is all your own. You can also book a larger group, event, or a party here. Regardless, you're welcome to bring in snacks, beverages. I like to bring my headphones and shut out the world while I paint. It's very relaxing. The owners are kind, friendly, helpful and have lots of advice on how you can make your item come out to it's full potential. I highly recommend Plasterminds for a great experience, whether you're painting for yourself or a gift for someone else.

Had a great time with the family and can't wait to stop in again. Very warm and welcoming, tons of ceramics to choose from and the staff was the best.

What a fun experience! You dont have to know a thing about ceramics. You just show up, pick out your project, and they provide everything else, from paint, brushes, to advice on how to fix a goof. Once done, they fire your piece in the kiln and you pick it up later. What a great team. I loved it all.

This was such a nice experience, I walked in on a weekday morning to make my daughters birthday plate. Everything is priced at the bottom so you don't have to ask. (No hidden fee's!) It's a beautiful clean studio with plenty of paint options. I will be back!

Johnny has been our instructor on more than one occasion and he's always so thoughtful with his instructions and so patient with everyone, It's always easy to reserve a wheel via text or phone call, which is recommended on busy weekends and evenings, but you can also drop in. There are several wheels in the studio and tables for adding the finishing touches like handles or other accents. You'll photograph your piece to locate it after it's been fired then return about a month later to glaze your piece. Make sure to paint three layers or the color will be super faint. A month after that you'll return to pick up your masterpiece and become hooked like me.

He gave us great techniques and tricks on making what we wanted. The first session is for you to make your own vessel and the next session in 30 days will be painting. If you're not local you can paint some of the pre-made items. As being local is better for the pottery wheel because it takes time to dry. Pottery making is a skill and is so relaxing if you have patience and a vision.

The shop itself is an adorable little gem, very comfortable, not overwhelming. Josie was amazing at explaining the process and was helpful throughout when we had questions (yes, even "dumb" ones). This means you can choose from stencils of all sizes and patterns, stamp type devices to imprint designs, and best of all....a computer to search images that the studio will then image and re-size for you on the spot to have a custom stencil for your creation! I've tried painting my own wine glass, blah blah...hideous, but really I was in it for the experience. This studio raised the bar so much for me! This was our first visit and we went with friends and was not told how expensive this activity would be and we didn't know until after we got there. Now I know to be prepared to pay $35-$70 per person depending on what item you choose at this business. My daughter and I selected one of the smallest pottery options (small turtle jewelry dish, small scooter planter) because they were already $29 per piece and on top was an $8 studio fee per person. We couldn't afford anything bigger. It turned into $74 after tax for two people to paint two small pieces. Our friends had been there in the past (they live not far from this location) and noticed the prices definitely went up and shocked how expensive it was. I don't know how the mom with three kids afforded this art activity out who were with us at the same time. Have not seen our finished product yet, hoping all will be okay when our pieces are ready for pickup. But the price structure they have in place was just awful. I've been to many paint your own pottery studios in the area and this business is easily double the price. I won't be a returning customer.

This store is located in the plaza with Simply Pho, Grand Hacienda, and Keke's Breakfast cafe. It is clean and has a lot of different sections. There is a cafe with drinks/pastries like most others. The employees there were nice and efficient. I got a slice of Pumpkin Cheesecake after missing out last year due to Hurricane Milton. It was $7 and average sized. 9/10 There aren't many negatives. I liked the floor plan of the previous store more. It was more open and spacious. This one feels a bit more "compartmentalized" Outside of the cafe area, there aren't too many sitting areas. There are a few chairs placed throughout the store. The store is in a large plaza with ample parking. Overall: Good to see the Carrolwood have a replacement so soon!
