The soap dispenser doesn't work. There are signs in the bathroom (near the two urinals that are out of order) that say, "Wash your hands 'after' you leave the restroom." How is that possible. Should one wash hands BEFORE leaving the restroom? These are just a few examples of the lack of attention to detail management invests in this "gym."

I think the thing that I love the most is the confidence I have when traveling to other gyms (visiting friends/being on vacation etc) and training there. I know when I walk through the door of other gyms, that I will be able to handle whatever is thrown at me. Your physical fitness will improve greatly at 150 as well. I am almost 50 years old and I am in the best shape of my life after training there. The atmosphere and camaraderie is another aspect that I love. It feels like I am surrounded by a family of brothers and sisters which is crucial when training a sport like this.

It's gym definitely defines Performance Gym because it practically had every piece of equipment you would need to complete a workout. Daily pass was $12. If you don't want all the unnecessary bells and whistles that the big corporate chains have but still have the basics and then some, this is a great place to join! I have a student membership and pay month-to-month for $25 without a contract. They have various other membership packages and definitely cater to family fitness. Not only do you have the cardio room and 2 weight rooms (both free weights and machines), but they have a day care center, a giant gymnasium for basketball and some of the larger group fitness classes like Zumba, and then other smaller rooms for yoga, etc. All fitness classes are included in your membership. You're also able to pay to workout or go to a class per day as opposed to a monthly membership if you go less frequently. They offer personal training and have a fun, warm, and friendly staff to help you get settled. If you're looking for a gym to feel comfortable, have options, and not pay ridiculous monthly fees, this is a place worth checking out! And the funny part is that most people don't know that this building is a gym! It's the old armory building on Longwell at the entrance of the park off Main Street and across from Paradiso.

They have a more even ratio of bikes/ellipticals/treadmills/climbers/urgs. They have a full compliment of weight equipment. They have one room for classes. They even have a tanning bed or two. It is hardly ever so busy that you can't get a machine. But I don't love the ellipticals as much as the ones at the Y, and GHF doesn't have a pool. It's further away from town, but my main complaint is the expense. For the amount that my mother payed for a full family membership, including classes and pool use at the Y, you only get a single membership with classes and gym use. The class fees and gym fees are separate. I find that annoying. However, I will cough up 5$ to use the gym on the days I see my trainer. I figure, if I'm in town anyway, might as well try to see her once to make up for the debauchery I probably engaged in the night before.

Well, it's been 12 years since the JCC took out a no trespass order against me. My only 'crime'…read morewas to witness, over the course of 6 months, more than half a dozen instances where staff of the JCC daycare mistreated, both physically and verbally, young children under their care. My mistake was in trusting the then director, Randy Freeman, to do the right thing. What I should have done was to call Childline and let them handle it. Randy found none of emails of complaint valid, even relating to instances of mistreatment where I had other witnesses. The JCC was going through renovations as the time and they didn't want anything to jeopardize them, so they made up some nonsense about me. I'm not perfect; however, I stand behind my words and actions always. I recently thought about requesting the JCC remove the trespass order so I can go back. I need the pool like I need oxygen. However, after perusing pictures of the staff and the board, I decided I didn't wish to ever see these people again. 'Everyone is welcome'. Yea, except the righteous Jewish disabled war veteran. What a bunch of hypocrites.

There are too many group exercise class cancellations at the Hill Y in Westminster. Cancelled…read moreclasses occur because of school closures, actual and predicted weather conditions, lack of instructors and substitutes, and poorly planned activities, including construction. The Hill Y in Westminster tries to offer too many activities in a small amount of space often sacrificing regular programming and affecting its members. I am tired of seeing text messages and emails saying, "we are sorry for the inconvenience" or "try this class instead". Unnecessary group exercise class cancellations truly affect my well-being. If the YMCA administrators and decision makers were truly sorry, they would make a change, prorate our memberships, or compensate members by lowering the price of monthly memberships. Instead, the prices increase each year. Here is an example of how the decision is made to cancel classes: Friday evening, 2/16/24, a decision was made to cancel FOUR group exercise classes because of predicted snow fall on Saturday morning. Here I sit on Saturday morning, 2/17/24, and the roads are clear. The Hill YMCA is opening at the regular time, but all the group exercise classes are cancelled this morning. When the Y center is open, group exercise classes should be offered as well.
