I was a first time home buyer looking for a mortgage. I got all my places lined up for the day and asked one of the consultants to give me a rough estimate of the rates he had. He gave me a rate that was well outside of my research range. When I said to him "Hey this doesn't seem right, can you check it again" He said "I did everything I could and that is the best rate I could get, I do this for a living." I literally called 3 major banks and got 3 quotes that were all 1% lower than his "lowest rate" I told him I was moving on with another bank. He said "Well maybe I can talk to my manager to get a lower rate...I didn't know rates were so low." Get a second opinion when working with these guys... Slimy as hell. read more

I call BS on all these high rated "reviews". My mortgage was transferred to them from Guaranty Bank not too long ago. I have been calling all hours of the day, every day of the week during business hours, for over a *#*&# month to pay my mortgage and the phone line continuously tells me to wait for a rep and then disconnects me. Every time I call. From 9 different phones now. It also refuses to allow me to register online to pay and keeps telling me to call the worthless, "congrats you are disconnected" customer service line. They have NO email address on their website for contact so my only way to reach them is though the mail at this point. Seriously. A "mortgage" company that's merely a glorified debt collector that is making me want to sell my house just because of the headache it is to even pay my mortgage. read more

This is the most frustrating company that I have ever dealt with. We have had our mortgage with them for 3 years and never been late or missed a payment. In November '18 I called Platinum to inquire about the removal of PMI. I was told that I needed a new appraisal and the LTV had to be less than 80%. I paid $425 for the appraisal and was told someone would call to schedule the appraisal. After several weeks I called Platinum back to check up. I was then told I owed $155 more for the appraisal. I paid it and again was told I would be contacted. Several weeks went by with no call. I called again and an appraisal was scheduled. After the appraisal, i was told that i would be contacted with a decision. Again, no contact at all for several weeks. I called Platinum and was told the request to remove PMI was denied because the LTV needed to be 75%, not 80%. After disputing the denial, I was directed to a local branch manager who said the LTV needed to be 80%. The local branch manager contacted Platinum Corporate who confirmed 80%. I then made an additional $1,000 payment on top of my regular payment to ensure we met the 80% criteria. I was told to re-submit the request and that I would be contacted. Again, no contact from Platinum for several weeks. I called to check the status and was told we were denied again. The Platinum employee stated an emailed explanation would be sent within 1 hour. No email was ever sent. After sending a very long winded complaint to the company, I received a generic apology for all of the misinformation given and an almost sarcastic offer to assist with future loan service. Lol, yeah right. Bottom line, I'm out $580 for the appraisal and took $1,000 out of my savings for nothing. The company never reached out to me throughout the entire 5 month ordeal. Nothing but frustration and bad information for 5 months, all the while making regular mortgage payments along with the $229 per month PMI payment. Run away from this company as you will be ignored by them once the have your loan. Horrible experience. read more

I'm still upset at the service I received from Nick Goza. This guy completely ruined my first time experience in buying a home. Very rude and used bad language. Very unprofessional. He told me "no news is good news." I called him during the pandemic for an update and the guy cursed me out and asked me if I even still had a job? I kid you not? I reviewed this place before and Yelp took off my review. Some guy from PHM replied to my comment and told me to call them back only for a voicemail and a rude receptionist. So naturally, I shopped around for a bit for a good lender before diving completely in when purchasing my new home. The big name places seemed just fine, but what sold me on Platinum was their staff. I'm not sure about the rest of their employees, but Lidia was stellar. She took care of my family and me and did an amazing job!!! I'm a staunch DIY-er, so I asked a ton of questions, which were answered in detail and came with extra advice I hadn't even thought of. It felt good to know she knew what she was doing. Moreover, I had a general timeline in my head and took into consideration setbacks that could arise, but she was so efficient and it all went quicker than I thought and without a hitch. I'm a numbers guy, so I'll go with whatever gives me the best deal. I'm all about the brass tacks, so to speak. If you are selling a home, beware of deceptive practices of this firm, such as lying about the buyer's financial status, inaccurate statements about why a mortgage is held up, etc. My realtor was assured the buyer was solid. "The check was in the mail" for the closing, asking for extensions for check clearance. At the end there was no check and the deal was dead. The buyer could not afford it. He met me at my realtors office and did the preliminary paperwork, then it was a few pieces here and there. After my offer was submitted I closed within 35 days and that's with the sellers pos escrow company dragging it out an extra 4 days BECAUSE THEY DROPPED THE BALL!!! Really appreciate Mohan's help in getting my loan for my third property. Being it was a complicated loan due to multiple reasons, he was able to walk me through and fight for me. The only concern I have was at the beginning of my loan process, a new hire was unorgainzed and i had to keep resending records and files. They are disorganized, have lost papers, missed two closing dates, are slow to get back to you, and in essence are a BIG JOKE of an outfit. They have a philosophy of contacting the sellers directly before they contact the buyer (YOU - THE PERSON THAT HIRED PLATINUM) regarding status's. I contacted PM because of all of the great raving reviews. My husband and I were trying to see how much we would get Pre-Approved for. Steve contacted us and was very helpful on the phone. I explained we were not in a rush to buy a home but just wanted to see what we would get qualified for. We spoke Monday and I sent him the required income info that same day. He said he could see what we could get Pre-Approved for by the end of the week. He responded back Wednesday with a question which I replied to immediately. I haven't heard back from him since Wednesday. It's like he completely forgot about me or doesn't care. This place is definitely overrated. Like some other people said, they fail at following up. We are first time homebuyers and were hoping Platinum Mortgage was going to guide us through the process. Even if Steve was still working on finding us a loan, I would've still appreciated some follow up saying "hey, I'm still working on this for you". Stay away from this place.
