For being a Gold Standard Plato's Closet, this place was not it. Granted, it was roomier and had more of a Mens selection but there was hardly anything that didn't look like it's been used to death. I didn't find anything current or within the last 3 years. They had a lot of shoes but mostly well worn. I took in a bag of clothing 98% of which had the tags attached - never worn clothing (all pressed and folded), belts, socks and sunglasses. They bought ONE item for $1.00 and said the rest of the items were not bought because of the condition or wear. If NEW isn't good enough I can't imagine what is. I got a lot of nice streetwear here including oversized tees, corduroy pants, and ripped jeans, which don't match my style but were a great way to branch out for cheap. Prices are pretty average, perhaps a dollar or two higher per item than most other places, but the selection is very on trend. On the other hand, selling items to them is not a very good process. You drop off the clothes and they say come back in minimum one hour (depending on how many clothes you dropped and how many people are in front of you). Unfortunately, they run your clothes through a cheap (literally) computer system that decides how much they will pay you for your clothes, so you cannot be mad at them for the price it spits out, but be warned these prices will suck. My take is that it's a last resort option to at least get some sort of money rather than donating for free at the end of the day. read more

Brought in a huge bag with mostly American Eagle clothes. Their sign said they were looking for mostly fall items but they were also accepting denim and tees. They didn't take any of my AE tees or denim overalls, and only offered me $16 for 3 out of 30 things I brought. They also told me the wait time was only 25 minutes and it ended up taking an hour. Overall the store is way overpriced for out of date crap most likely cuz the store is run by a middle age woman with no fashion sense. Better off donating to Goodwill. read more

I came into Plato's closet the other day with two big bag of clothes I wanted to sell. They called me and told me to come back by the store so I did. They told me sorry but your clothes are to nice and gave me back my bags. I looked at the bags and they didn't even look at the clothes in the bag everything was still in the bag the way I had it. I bought in a large bag of Victoria's Secret and PINK clothing along with jewelry, sunglasses, new VANs sneakers as well as professional clothes from New York and Company, Calvin Klein and DKNY. They rejected all of my clothing stating that "It was too professional." or "Out of date." Meanwhile they have clothing on their racks that looks like 1. A dog mangled it and then rats made a nest in it. 2. A Darth Vader shirt covered in sequins. 3. A large array of tank tops that had some annoying variation of loving tacos and guacamole printed on them. 4. A pair of converse designed to look like Campbell's tomato soup cans. I didn't care about making any money because I just wanted to get rid of my clothes and figured I would give this place a shot. However if you're going to be selling clothing that looks like it came out of the bargain bin of a Jersey shore souvenir shop you really need to stop being so picky. read more

Came here today for the first time to try it out and I must say I'm pretty disappointed. I knew a girl who came a couple months ago and had a lot of success but for whatever reason I didn't. I brought in a bin of nice clothes and two pairs of shoes (Nike shirts, Ralph Lauren polos and T-shirt's ) all in good condition besides a stain here and there on maybe two shirts. They only took 5 things out of my bin for a total of $23 dollars. One of which was a pair of Nike basketball shoes which I hardly ever wore. About 2 weeks ago I brought two large bags to try and sell at Platos. They took about half my things and told me to bring back anything else I had that tbrh were interested in the quality and brands of clothing I had. I was very happy with most of the prices. I returned reecently with another large bag of items. I was told it would be about 20 minutes. I left the store and went to other stores nearby to pass the time. Over 40 minutes passed and I did not receive a text message that my items were sorted so I returned to the store. I walked in and was not greeted very friendly. The girl working the register stared at my bag of clothing and looked confused. I asked if they sorted it yet or needed more time. She paused for a while and said no we don't want your stuff. I said okay no problem is there a reason. She told me it was not the season they were looking for. I was a little confused since most of my items were shorts and t shirts. I said okay and said I would come back another time. The problem I have is that the worker was clueless and never texted me that my drop off was sorted or ready for pickup. Working in the customer service industry it is common courtesy to be friendly and attentive to customers. Unfortunately my experience at Platos was not that. It is really sad to have such a great interaction one time and a bad interaction the next time. I really hope the management takes into consideration they people they hire and the skills needed to be in the service industry. read more

okay so this place is ridiculous, they say they're looking for guys athletic wear but when you bring it in they don't buy it. my boyfriend brought in name brand clothes, all brand new ( adidas, nike, polo, champion, jordans, puma) and they didn't buy anything. I usually come here and have success but today was awful and a waste of time, plus the employee that helped us was rude and seemed too busy to answer a simple question. We weren't given a list of the 3 things they did buy or for how much or let alone a reason why they didn't take anything else. Sadly Disappointed, all but a few were professional in this location. I overheard someone in management talking down to employees, and it was horrible the way she spoke to them. I overheard that her name was Leah, she had a blue shirt on with ties. She was absolutely no help to my shopping needs either. You treat your employees like you want to be treated. I've come here twice. Once to buy, once to sell. I've gotten quite a lot of very nice clothing for good prices. Never had much luck in shoes, but I haven't looked very hard. The clothes I got were all in good condition and are mostly from Forever 21. Lots of Forever 21 in here, but also a lot of Target brand clothing and American Eagles. There was also a whole rack of Vans. When I brought a bag of clothes in (mostly from Old Navy, and other things that weren't name brand) I was told that it would take an hour to an hour and a half. They never let us know they were done and we had to call them later that day. Was given $4.80, they took two things. They donated the rest. Overall, I like shopping here. Both managers are also novice and lack the ability to communicate to customers effectively and validly. And as far as selling your clothes here...DON'T. You will get next to nothing for brands like Calvin Klein, MK, coach, guess, etc..and half the time they won't even take it. So why is over half the inventory brands like hollister and outdated clothes that remain unpurchased week after week? Clearly the staff has no discretion on what to purchase or how much to offer. If I could give them no stars I would. I called them to ask what season items they were taking before I drove the 45 mins to the store. I made sure to only bring the name brand items my daughter hardly wore. I had Jean shorts from American Eagle, tops from hollister, forever 21, and some really nice formal dresses with the tags still on from Macy's ( covid ruined formals) When I got there the girl explained i would have to drop my bag and they would call me in 3 hours after they looked through it. i wasted over three hours moseying around the shopping g center since I'm almost an hour from there . When they called me I was shocked to learn they only took two items. A formal dress with a $20 tag on it and a pair of Arizona jean shorts with the tag on. They gave me a lousy $4.80 for brand new items! If they weren't taking clothes, which they should because most stuff in the store was no where as nice as what I brought, crappy used t shirts and stretched out shirts, they should of said something. Yikes. I went here despite the low reviews (I assumed they were mainly people complaining about not being approved for consigning). But I was wrong. There were so many Victoria secret shirts that were obviously stained and yet priced at at $20 and $22... The shoes were a joke, too. One pair of sneakers, the heels were torn through and the padding was coming out of both.. priced at $25. That's crazy. I expect to go to Plato's closet to spend those prices but not for stained, broken, and quite frankly nasty articles of clothing/shoes. The racks were also PACKED with stuff. So much so that I couldn't see anything while going through them without using all my force to separate the clothes from each other. Very sad. Left with a pair of shoes (with dog/cat hair on them) and two shirts for $70. I'm going to have to clean all of it; but should have only spent $30 max on them. Not worth it at all. read more

Terrible . I had all name brand clothes WITH tags . All sweaters , jeans, and outerwear. Brand new heels. She told me it wasn't what they were looking for and refer to the sign that said "fall clothes: jeans sweaters outerwear " which is all I had with tags!!! And I was told nothing could be bought because it was old and not what they were looking for. But my items were brand new with tags and exactly what the sign says because I specifically called and asked what they wanted. This store is a joke! They buy people's clothes with holes in them but not brand new items name brand. What a joke never going back. This is the 5th time. read more

I went in to Plato's Closet for the first time, and the person who gave me a careless greeting asked me if I was a new customer, but did nothing to treat me like one. I brought in at least 150 items from Gap, Old Navy, Forever 21, Free People, etc, and assumed I would be able to sell all of them, but when I came back the next day, all they could offer me was $6.50 for some outdated jewelry. When I asked why this was happening, they told me my clothing was too "high end" for their store, or not in good enough shape, when the clothing which they offer people is damaged, outdated, and the poorest quality. That person who greeted me the first day so easily could have taken a look at my clothes and told me about their policies, but instead chose to waste my time and energy by ignoring basic employee-customer manners. I work in retail, and the first thing they teach you is how to greet a customer and what information to give them. Also, the manager told me that he could not accept any of my dresses (of any style or season), because they had a dress surplus in the store. I had brought in all of my dresses on hangers, and again, the employee who KNEW I was a new customer did not have the courtesy to tell me that they had a surplus. They should get rid of the "name-brand clothing" in their motto, because it's honestly just false advertising and wastes people's time. When the manager offered a half-hearted "sorry" and said he hoped I would give them another chance, I simply just said "I'm sorry but I'm not going to". read more

This store is so overpriced and half the stuff you find has a bleach mark faded or something wrong w it and if it says Pink on it forget about it!!!!!! you can buy Victorias Secret items cheaper and brand new in the store at times. Dropped off 2 bags of clothing. (FYI: They demand to see your driver license for ID purposes. Which I didn't like.) The tween who waited on me said someone would look at it the clothes to see what they wanted to keep to resell, & call me to pick up what they didn't want. After they texted that they were done, I went to pick up the unwanted items, but they had donated EVERYTHING! Obviously, this was not what the tween told me would happen. A guy who I presume to be the manager told me that you have 24 hours to pick up what they don't want, or they donate it, "it's on the receipt." The problem is, the tween who took my stuff did NOT give me a receipt! Anyway, this is one of a chain of stores all over the country. And it is run like any other impersonal franchise you've ever visited. Better to patronize a locally owned business that is friendly & treats people respectfully. The Attic on Main Street in Bethlehem is cool. And if they can't use your stuff, donate it to Goodwill, Via, or Salvation Army.
