This is now the second time I went to Platos closet in Christiansburg and then proceed to randomly take 1 item out of my bag and offer me $1. Both times I've asked the reasoning behind it and they said they have too much inventory. If you have to much inventory why are you accepting clothes to sell. I watched the girl pick one random item out of my bag. She didn't even take the time to look through my clothes. I'm so sick of this. I will not be coming back to platos. Eh;It's a fun place to shop. They don't exactly carry Plus size clothing. Just to be sure when you're checking out and paying, and if you pay with a card that, whoever is checking you out actually gives your card back to you. They will buy certain clothing off of you, but you do need to call ahead of time,and ask what they will buy off of you because they have certain things and certain ways they want you to bring to them. read more

They have a ton of clothes to choose from, some are in good condition some not so much. Also good on prices I haven't been there in about a year so I'm not sure if they have gone up any or not. But selling clothes to them I have mixed reviews about because you can take a bunch of nice clothes and if a shirt or something has a tiny stain on it they won't take it also they told that they don't take clothes from Walmart and stuff and then they don't give you much for the clothes or shoes. But if you go shop there you will find more than 1 shirt with stains or faded as crap, also they have a ton of clothes from Walmart so I'm not sure what they were talking about. They need a bigger place or something it's just way to jam packed in there can hardly walk. read more

Stingy as can be. One of the big selling points of this place is that they'll buy your clothes from you. That's a laugh and a half. They barely take anything, no matter how neat, clean, or good quality it may be. There's also no reasoning or explanation given for why they refuse most of your items. You might get $1-$2 per thing they take, and with how persnickety they are, you'll be lucky to walk away with more than $10 if you bring in a load of 50 items. Truly a waste of time. Not worth driving out to the store for this. read more

A very nice selection of women's clothing in all sizes. The men's section is usually pretty sparse in selection, but I'd assume they don't have as many men as they do women trying to sell to them. The most worn items I've seen in the store are boots and tennis shoes, they seem to take just about any old scuffed up shoe, which is hard to understand when they turn away a lot of nicely cared for items I've brought in. I've sold clothes here and to other Plato's locations probably since 2013 and this one is one of the less picky ones I've sold to. They've only turned me away once and that was because they were close to overstocked; when I came back a month later with the same clothes, they bought 13 items off me. They usually take 5-15 items and I walk out with $30-$70, which is wonderful when you need to clean out a closet and make some quick cash. They also don't mind showing you the itemized receipt of what they are giving you for each item, which is really nice because I've had other Plato's stores refuse to show me the receipt. read more

A nicer 2nd Hand shop, lots to choose from. Clothes: tops, pants, dresses, Sweaters, shoes, outerwear. So much to choose from; sorted by size and then color. Some formal gowns and accessories too. Lots of dressing rooms to check out and try on items. Some Men's items but not as large of a selection. Prices are OK, some a bit high but lots on sale/markdown. We've only had friendly encounters with the staff. We have not sold back any items to this store so I cant address other reviewers concerns but it seems the store was being selective, That is a Good thing. Maybe bringing in too many boxes of items to sell back at one time and expecting the store to go thru it right away for your convenience is not their main reason to have a store. Most resale places are there to sell items they have, so just leave the items for a while maybe half a day . read more

If I could do zero stars I would. Dropped off 3 boxes of washed folded and name brand clothes to be priced. Came back an hour later (they said 45 min to an hour) and they had only gone through 2 of the three boxes. Then- as we shopped they said we went through the other 2 boxes but- as I was watching- they picked through the top few items only. When I questioned them they said they were worn or damaged. I guess the 3 items that still had tags on them from Forever 21 were "damaged"? Won't shop there again. read more

The Plato's Closets around where I live are normally hit or miss. While they have good deals, they often don't carry plus size clothing. With most of America currently plus size, this seems not only unfair but STUPID when it comes from a business point because I have heard of locations turning down consignments from plus size people. Well THIS location is not like that at all. They have a really diverse clothing section with lots of options that are affordable. This is a breath of fresh air for someone who isn't regularly sized. I recently bought a dress from Urban Outfitters that had the tags on it and was $70, I got it for $16. They also have student days on Tuesday where you can get a discount with your ID card. They have a really good variety of clothes, accessories, and shoes and they also sell men's clothes too. I'm really happy with this location and I'll continue to support them. This is how Plato's should be! read more

Most the people who work here are some of the rudest i've ever met. No hello or have a nice day just stares and rude comments/attitudes. I would rather take my clothes to goodwill and get no money then have to deal with the rude women who work at plato's lol. Also, they take some busted looking things but will sometimes not take things ive brought in that have never been worn before? read more
