I sold over 13 items including a pair of doc martens and I only got $80 (about $6 per item). The wait time to pick up items is also over 3.5 hours (on a Tuesday). They also just throw your clothing back into the basket unfolded and a mess. The employees are nice but if you are looking to sell I recommend other places. I went to the Plato's in Vermont and had fantastic service and got $64 for 6 things. It only took 1.5 hours (it was a Sunday). read more

Dropped off another large batch of clothes for them to go through here on a Wednesday afternoon, took an hour and a half which they thankfully told me about in advance. I browsed their racks while waiting as they went through my 3 large bags and 1 small bag of stuff, but it was chaotic and didn't seem like an associate had been through recently to clean things up, organize the racks, and pick up the loose hangers or clothes on the floor. I work retail myself, so I probably spent more time doing that out of habit than actually shopping the racks. But I found a nice soft pair of workout pants for $8 after searching the racks pretty thoroughly. As for what they bought/how they pay out: they took 12 items, mostly NWT stuff, & paid me $33.45. If this stuff wasn't just going to be donated right afterwards already, I probably would've kept it. It's a little insulting how low they offer for stuff NWT; you know it hasn't been worn & that it's still fairly recent if it still has tags. One item included a blanket I had gotten from PINK, & that alone is usually $50+ dollars in stores, and another item was a NWT Levi's top that was over $30 in stores. So to not even be paid half that for each NWT item is a little insulting, but it is what it is. Try your luck elsewhere for reselling your own stuff (Poshmark or marketplace) but for finding good deals on items there, be prepared to browse. They're there, but you gotta dig through the chaos. read more

If I could give this place a zero I would. Lady was very rude when I came in. Tried selling over 5 garbage bags full of all name brand clothes and only one pair of shorts were bought. So I visited a he Clifton park Plato's closet today for the first time today and I must say for starters it's way better than the Albany store! So much bigger and more of a selection! But honestly they're way too overpriced for used clothing! Also they didn't accept any of my clothing but it was my fault mostly because I didn't wash them before I went (aaa duuuhhhh). But the highlight of my visit was this super cool chicky that was working!! Shoutout to Alley!! She was so nice and personable and knowledgeable and stylish and and and I can't say enough about her! I wish more people in retail were like her!! She genuinely just enjoys being a human!! I really appreciated that! Now if they would stop giving us Pennie's for our sh$t and then selling them for stupid dollars I would be a happy girl all of that was just for Alley!! Give that woman a phat raise!! read more

Been going to this location ever since it opened. However lately every time I go, I am waited on by the girl with short blonde curly hair and face piercings, and she is miserable every single time I see her interact with customers. How long can you have an attitude in that place before you get fired? Today I went in with a return and she was loudly sighing and slamming things, including the cash register drawer. Their selection is really nice, I mean it's a thrift what can you expect it's not a Walmart lol you wont find everything there but you'll probably leave with at least something. There's many in-season and out-of season clothes available so if you want a nice sweater in June... Good quality sweaters too. I think the prices are reasonable. It can get a little expensive but keep in mind it's still cheaper than buying new - you're buying secondhand but things aren't gonna be priced for pennies. Didn't sell anything to them so can't comment on that. The service was extraordinary. Huge shout-out to Alley!! Such a wonderful and kind person with a good eye for style. Do not bring your clothing here! They scam the $h!t out of you and all of the workers are clueless as to what brands are actually In style. They have the worst clothing out on the floor and pretty much wont take anything. My boyfriend and I brought in bags full of nice mens clothing (supreme, carhartt, Nike) and they only took the pieces that I thought were the worst ones in the whole bag! I brought in bags of recently purchased (within the past year) clothes. Everything was in mint condition... some still had tags. The young girl at the desk refused to even open the bag. She actually said to my face " I doubt you have anything we would want ". I had my kid's clothes... Holister, American Eagle, Aeropostale, Tommy Hilfiger and a few Michael Kors!! Teetering on 3.5 so I'll just round up to 4. This location is far better than the Albany location. The store is also much nicer and much better kept than Albany. The associates are friendly and helpful and they actually bought a lot of my items - Albany passed on every single item. 3.5 because they don't really give much money but that's not totally their fault. I know they have to make a profit but offering me .90 cents for a pair of brand new with tag attached earrings that cost $30 is ridiculous. Regardless I will continue to go to this location as long as they keep buying from me. They buy all day every day so you don't necessarily have to show up as soon as they open like other locations. Don't waste your time going to the Albany location - come to this location first. read more

Best Plato's in the area. I love thrifting here and at their sister site Style Encore which is close by as well. I don't sell much, I'm more raving about the fact that they usually have cute plus size fashions for me! If you're looking to sell, please be realistic with your expectations. Overall good experiences both buying and selling. Brought 7 items in yesterday and they purchased 5. Didn't get a ton of $ back- but hey it's more than had I simply dropped them in a donation box. It does take a while(3 hours in my case but was told up front) for them to go through the clothes and they are picky- but that works in the buyers favor. If you have time to wait or drive back its worth it. Have found many nice high quality, brand name items. Would recommend. read more

Good concept in theory. However, when I drop off 1 basket of clothes and have to wait 2 hours for it to be processed just to be told "no" on everything (Including brand new Rock Revival Jean and many other barely worn name brand items), that's a wrap for me. And, quite frankly, I honestly don't think they even went through all my items because after I got home, I went through everything and the bottom of the basket was exactly how I had folded everything. Waste of time and energy. I have found plenty of items throughout the store looking far more worn than anything I would ever attempt to sell. This is the second time I've had to wait 2 hours. They absolutely are terrible. I bought a pair of boots and returned them within the hour because they were too small and I was supposed to get a refund and three weeks later; I still have not gotten a refund and apparently according to the store I never returned them. DO NOT SELL YOUR CLOTHING HERE!!! I brought a whole bag of clothing and first of all they only took four of my items after I waited two hours for them to look through it. They paid me $24 for a Hollister sweatshirt, a shirt from VS Pink, a Calvin Klein down jacket, and a black sweater. To make matters worse when I got home I looked in my bag and realized that they had stole a Patagonia quarter zip from me and did not pay me for it. I am beyond furious because that is illegal. So do not sell your clothing there unless you want to get ripped off. read more

Thank you for being a lifesaver! Brought my teenage girl here (against her will, haha!) with her thinking it was nothing but a second hand shop. She was amazed by what she found! She is usually not that into the "latest fashion." I think she thought I was bringing her to a Salvation Army type store though. She was so happy to find so many (fashionable) clothes she liked. She even asked me " Have these really been used before?" Store looks like a high end shop! Every looks brand new! Great prices as well as awesome customer service. Would almost think you were shopping at a high end boutique. Completed much of her back to school shopping here. Lots of clothes and a new purse. If these clothes were worn before it could not have been often. Literally everything, like new! The cost of it all was so much better than shopping for new clothes at a mall and she got higher end quality. Even I didn't expect this from a second hand shop. I guess it was in our favor that teenagers retire their clothes so quickly! Haha! Definitely our new go to store for her. Not to mention a little more cash in my wallet!
