This store used to be a great idea but recently went in the other day and now they only sell crop tops. Literally couldn't find one shirt that went past the breasts. It's basically a clothing store for dolls. I'm young and petite but I don't like wearing crop tops. I think the store would do better if they sold regular tops too or at least tops that cover most of the stomach. Seriously not one full shirt could be found in the entire store unless it was a sweater but there weren't many sweaters by that weren't cropped, I was shocked. What a disappointment. I have taken my clothes here for years and never experienced a problem until the last week. I brought THREE FULL bags of clothes he's and accessories in - 99% of them name brand such as Lilly Pulitzer, Steve Madden, LOFT, American Eagle, Free People and more. They did not take a single item. On top of this frustration, they didn't even attempt to explain why - not that it makes it better - but more friendly customer service would've been nice. This plato's closet has always been very inconsistent and that is where my disappointment comes from. They will resell clothes for more expensive prices (compared to stores such as walmart/ gabes/ marshall's) yet are predominantly stingy with clothes they are willing to accept. When selling to Plato's it is always important to know that they may not accept all clothes, however when the store is difficult to shop at times due to stains/ wrinkles/ and out of style clothes, it would be more beneficial for them to accept more product. read more

I Just want to say I currently live in Delaware and I've been to almost every Platos Closet in The Tri State area But by Far the location in Exton is the best I dont mind traveling the 35 minute drive for the great customer service i receive everytime i walk into the store everyone is extremely friendly and very helpful. The store is always very clean and organized .. And The best Part about the whole shopping experience is being Greeted and Having a great convo with the store manager Will ! he is literally a Gem !good customer service is hard to come by nowadays i can tell its definitely not fake just because he has to be friendly ! I really believe this is his real personality he is soo outgoing and funny and I always feel welcome when I come in ! i hope this location never Closes because they have a customer for Life! Three stars for the massive selection of clothes but lackluster shopping experience. Honestly I saw a lot of clothes and shoes that just should have been given to a Good Will or even trashed. The store is so packed. Like most Plato's, this one had lots of clothes of a millennial's past (American Eagle, Aero, fast fashion). It was so packed on a Saturday afternoon and the young girl running the dressing rooms was struggling but it's alright, sweetie! My friend John wanted to look for men's clothes which I find are easier to thrift than women's. So many small sizes so it's good for younger girls. It seemed like they don't wash the clothes before putting them out :-). No noticeable smell but some pet hair was visible in pieces. Prices are pretty fair and they consistently have discounts. I'm soo cheap when it comes to clothes because I work somewhere with a discount and I'm #scarred by it (if anything's over $30 I have to convince myself to buy it). This is why Plato's is great in theory but sometimes poorly executed. Ended up with a Free People sweater and I'm pretty pleased with it! I wanna start with the staff and the money I got for my clothes wasn't the problem. Everyone was nice and I got over $90 for 20+ items for which I believe was fair. The problem I had was the length of time it took for the clothes to be sorted through. I came in around 2:30 on a Tuesday and was told it would be ready in 2 hours. I did not care as I there was a lot of bags they had so is assumed it was busy. I did some errands and got dinner and decided it wasn't worth going home as it was nearly the time to pick up. I went in around 5pm - about 30 min after my quoted 2 hrs and I was told they had not been started yet but the women in the front promised they were next and it would only be another 30-45 min. I said I totally get it and I left and do some more shopping around local stores. I checked the online portal and still nothing after another 2 hrs. I finally went back into the store at the 5 hour mark and the clothes were finally just begun being sorted. I totally would have gone home and came back the next day for pick up if the staff had told me how long it would take.i will absolutely keep coming to Plato's this will not deter me but next time I'll probably just come back the next day. Every single time clothes are dropped off, they are looking for other types of things. Literally did an experiment once where we dropped off clothes and they said they're looking for other types of things so we went back home and got those other types of things...and then magically they didn't need those anymore. I've given up here. It's a total scam. We bring in today literally 2 things that were brand new, name brand. And of course...they don't need it. Joke. read more

I took clothing to this location for the first time. Upon entering the store, the staff was very unfriendly. They went through my clothing and the price I was offered was ridiculous, considering I had name brand clothing with tags still attached, which looked way better than most of their items for sale in the store. When the staff gave me back the clothing that they did not take, it was crumbled into a ball and thrown back into the boxes after I had spent over 30 minutes, folding it nicely to bring it into the store. I didn't expect it to be put back into the boxes perfectly, but to crumble it into a ball was just downright rude. When I mentioned this, the staff was completely rude and unapologetic. I will never take clothing to this location again. Please hire people who like their job and are not taking their miserable attitude out on customers. read more

I used to work here. it's honestly a very disgusting business 1. I am a minor and they would always schedule me at times so they wouldn't legally have to give me the break that was appropriate for the amount of work I was doing. They would schedule me 15 minutes before the time mark of a longer break would be. 2. It's honestly disgusting how they take advantage of so many young girls. THEY WILL NOT PAY YOU FOR TRAINING, which was about eight hours and the training was BARELY any teaching, 95% of the time, just working and doing labor for them. 3. For young girls, at least half your shifts are 'on call shifts'. That means that you call an hour before your shift to see if they need you to come in. More then half the time, they do not need you to come in, and you have wasted your time waiting to work. Do not work here. read more

Went to Plato's Closet today at the recommendation of one of my son's friends. I would NEVER recommend anyone taking their items to this store. I had 2 bags of women's clothing, 3 pairs of new shoes and a bag of about 8 pairs of men's jeans. Two Calvin Klein dresses still had the tags on them. Another Candie's dress also had the tag on it. I walked out with $4.80 for one pair of men's jeans. I will go to a consignment shop in the future and NEVER EVER go to Plato's Closet again. Don't waste your time with this place. read more

Platos Closet used to be one of my main places to shop and sell. Whenever I go in to sell, I bring in name brand items and I'm told that it's "out of season" but yet they "take all seasons at all times". I bring in items in great condition and if they're not name brand, they're "not in style". The pictures I've attached are just an example of the crappy clothing you can find at your local platos!!!! Around the store i see so many worn, stained, overpriced, faded, torn items that are name brand such as Free People, Urban, and Lulu Lemon. I know how the pricing works in the systems and such, but i also know it's possible to add and edit how the pricing works into the system;) I will not be shopping here anymore. read more

This store is awful, there clothes are cute and stylish for most but wow the service, they hire teenagers and they are so rude and disrespectful, I was told to move so an employee could get by me, no excuse me or anything, this is the second time I have been disrespected in this store while shopping here. I love coming here but the experience quickly gets ruined by other customers and employees. I will never come back here with the level of disrespect I received. It's been quite awhile since I've been here and they've expanded (and moved!) again. The store is huge and shares a door with their sister store, Style Encore. You check in on the kiosks and then your items are whisked away to the sorting queue. During my visit, the wait time was between 2-3 hours since lots of college kids were clearing out since they are all done for the semester. (I was quoted 2 hours but waited 3) I did a quick walk around and they definitely have a good variety of inventory. Lots of brand name displays as well (Lilly Pulitzer, Lulu Lemon). I came in with two overflowing bags and left with two overflowing bags. They only took 3 things: h&m high tops, kohls palm tree sports bra, and a rue 21 tank. The rest of my items were 'kids stuff'. (They have quite a few tees/tanks with slogans which is the only thing that 'might' be more casual but definitely not kids clothing. I think they are being overly picky because of the high volume of college students selling but it's rather out of the way for me to go to only have them take 3 low end items. I also waited to be rung out and was standing directly in front of an employee who ignored me until I loudly asked where to ring out. I immediately had 3 employees attention. Honestly I probably could have gotten the items I purchased at the Vs outlet nwt for the $10 I paid for each shirt but I liked the style. the store is a packed jumble of clothes that are more like Goodwill than designer or brand name. people working there are sloppy. they tell you their formula is 50% of retail prce and you get 30% of that (same as Clothes Mentor) but they do not follow that. used to be able to do well at these places but lately they offer peanuts even for new brand names. read more

Platos used to be my favorite store to shop at. The clothes were affordable and actually nice. Now, even a hoodie cropped from home (not even in a straight line) costs $20... They are extremely stingy. Platos Closet's clothing was never meant to cost as much as Pacsun or American Eagle. They save up 95% of the expensive clothing they buy such as Lulu Lemon, Free People, and The North Face to store them in bins in their storage unit next door to save up for events they have. I am not a big fan of this idea because after the events, the clothes go right back into the bins, and they have the crappy clothes in stores. Do not recommend going here anymore. read more

I had taken two totes of clothing in to sell during a slow day. My friend and I were 2/3 of the buys they currently had to go through. Both of our bins had only been picked from the top and that was it. They did not even touch 75% of items that were still in the bin, nicely folded how we had them when we came. I dropped off a bag of clothes to sell and was told an hour wait to go through them and i would get a text when ready. I waited two hours for a text and finally went up to the counter to ask, and they initially couldn't find my bag until it was found as having already been picked through and I had not been texted. I don't mind the items they chose/didn't choose, which only came up to $6, but at least have the decency to send a text and not make people wait an extra hour for it. read more

I love platos but I really only do a walk through of the purses and shoes. In my opinion, the purse selection needs some serious help. However, I have found some gems here! I don't usually go through the clothes bc they're sooo overwhelming and I don't really find much when I do look. I also really liked when new inventory was put on their Instagram story to hold if you called in. That was super cool! Often times I'd actually end up looking through the shop when I came to pick up an item. All in all, I've found some good pieces here but it's typically a hit or miss these days. read more

Most of the clothing was pretty low end labels. When they say that this store is geared for teens and junior sizes, that is totally accurate. Even some of the items that were on the low-end (Forever 21 was everywhere) only were selling for only a few dollars under brand new retail. And some of the higher end items, like Free People, look like they were very worn and washed 100 times. Maybe there is a bargain to be had here. But you'll be digging for a long time. read more

I've been selling at this location for a very long time. I used to work in a different location so I'm very familiar with the selection process. I go out of my way to visit this location, but it's been progressively getting worse each time I go. This past experience really did it for me. I originally entered their sister store and sold some items. They had sent items over to Plato's Closet but hadn't informed me so the day after, I received a phone call asking when I could stop in. I explained I worked a full time job and live 45 minutes away. They said that's fine and would hold my items until Friday. When I walked in today, I was told they could only issue store credit because "it had been over a week" (even though my original visit was 3/19 and today is 3/24). I explained the phone call conversation but was told there "wasn't anything they could do". It's not my fault your staff made a mistake... TWICE. read more

I'm not going to make this a long and bookish review, however, upon entering the store today with four ... count 'em, FOUR ... full canvas bags of clothes, both old and new (as new as two months ago, bought from Kohl's, and at that, designer Levi's pants) with my fiancé, John, I received a text message back within probably 25-30 minutes of dropping off these bags (again, each full to the brim) saying that the selection process had been completed. I found this peculiar, as going through the clothes at home took me a little over an hour, AND with other people selling ahead of me, there's no way in hell it would take that short of time to go through the things I was selling. Upon returning to the store, a rather too-pleasant associate informed me that NONE, NOT A SINGLE ITEM was resellable, for the reasons that "the clothes were over 1.5 years old and not currently styles sold in stores" and that other items "were formerly loved a little too much". What the fuck? There were close to BRAND NEW items in there, including a pair of Levi's gray khaki pants (the Kohl's purchase mentioned above) and several pairs of Lee's Reserve, Levi's 505s, and Dickies jeans that were NOT faded or used heavily and run from $60-100 brand new in stores. Also, the last time I checked, the "style" of jeans hasn't changed in over 150 years. I am fully convinced that the "reasons" why none of my items were sold is either because my fiancé and I are both men and this is a store catering prominently to women, or because we were a gay couple, or both. My recommendation: DO NOT sell your items or even ATTEMPT to consign your items here. There had to be a good 90 or 100 pieces and you're telling me that none of this was sellable? No, no and no. Don't go here, don't waste your time. This is ridiculous and it took every ounce of niceness in me to not go ballistic with profanity to every associate in the store. I brought in a whole bag of brand new clothes with tags on them including a shirt that was $200.00, and a jacket without tags that was $300.00 they offered me under $45 for everything (10 items with tags value above $600) honestly this store has gone such down hill the past few years. I decided not to settle for $45 and just donate my items. Also if they stay "trendy & up to date on the hottest clothes" they wouldn't have Victoria's Secret Pink hoodies from 2003... Platos closet is a store to sell and buy peoples already bought clothes. When i first shopped at platos the prices were reasonable and expected. It is a thrift store for "name brands." But now they are selling their clothes like they are brand new for the cost of what they were originally bought for and giving the people they bought the article of clothing from, barely any money. I have been to several Plano closets in the greater Philadelphia area. This is without a doubt the best one I have come across. The store is enormous. It is impeccably organized. There are never items in the wrong size, and they have the latest and best quality clothing. Last week I picked up by Ralph Lauren white Jean blazer with the tags still attached for only $13. The staff is beyond helpful. When I go in there I expect to spend about two hours. I try on probably three dozen items of clothing and not only to the store employees help me but they help organize things by categories to make the dressing room experience less overwhelming. They don't make you feel guilty when you come back more than half of the items. I cannot say enough good things about this location. Highly recommend this location instead of Paoli! Paoli is much more picker and only bought two things from me (and one item was going to a worker not even the store!) Paoli is crammed and chintzy for anyone trying to sell. Paoli doesn't have the text message system or sign in touch screen. The touch screen and TV shows you when they are done sorting through their clothing. The Exton service is faster, more organize and they actually remember who are after 15 minutes of waiting. Paoli offerered me $4 for a dress and a new pair of pants. They didn't want my other crop tops and new items from Forever 21 or Garage. Exton took my crop tops and offered me $17. They explained why they didn't take my other clothes. They said positive things as well! Forget Paoli. Wonder around the Exton store that is twice the size as the Paoli one. read more

I took my daughter there for the first time last week. She was able to purchase 2 pair of Converses and 3 tops for less than what one pair would have cost. The store was very busy but seemed to be in fairly good order. The racks were very tight which she found a little off putting. The friendliness and attentiveness from most of the staff made up for it. Customer Service in this store was excellent. We can't wait to make the drive back. read more

I'm a huge fan of Plato's Closet. Having a teenager in the home who likes to shop can be expensive, but going to Plato's Closet helps my wallet tremendously. They recently moved into a larger location, which is nice since their other location was a bit cramped. If you are unfamilar with Plato's Closet, they are a consignment store that is geared towards teens/early 20's. They sell abercrombie, hollister, j crew, expreee, athropologie, and other name brands. It is very affordable and clothes are in good shape. As some one in her early 30's, I will occasionally find some things I like too. It's a great place to have your teen pick up some brand name clothes at discounted prices. Your wallet with thank you. read more
