Took in 5 bags of brand spanking new clothes and 6 boxes of brand new shoes in their boxes some with their COAs and they offered me 6 bucks for 6 boxes of shoes including brand new Nike and Air Jordan shoes! Talk about low balling you and after I declined the offer they then offered to donate everything for me to some charity.. YEAH RIGHT!!! The clothes they had in this store had holes in them and all looked very raggedy. The shoes they had were very well worn and each one of them had foul odors! I'd give this place a zero if possible. I attempted to return two items that didn't fit, but one item was missing its tag (likely fallen off in my car). The manager refused the return, citing store policy, which was understandable. However, when I offered to reattach the tag if found, she declined. The dress still had the store's distinct scent. What bothered me was the manager's unprofessional behavior afterward; I overheard her discussing me with another employee as I left, making me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I returned to the store with the found tag, explaining how it likely fell off due to the dress's delicate material with small holes all over. Despite demonstrating how easily the tag could be reattached, the manager refused to accept the return, responding with a smirk and dismissive tone. I felt embarrassed and frustrated. The experience was worsened by the manager's unprofessional demeanor, reminiscent of teenage gossip. As I was frustrated by her unwillingness I thanked her and she said "for what?" my words got stuck as I stared at her laminated Owl looking eyebrows I said for not being helpful and she laughed and raised her voice at me telling me to HAVE A GREAT DAY! This place is absolutely amazing! I was in dire need for jeans & didn't want to break the bank so I went on a hunt to find a great second hand store, I went to 3 places before finding Plato's closet! Not only is it second hand but they even have some brand new clothes for a steal of a deal! I grabbed a bunch of my favorite designer jeans and even got some really nice workout clothes while I was there! Their Lululemon was a steal!!! I couldn't believe how amazingly priced everything was and how great their selection is! Even the changing rooms were nice! They are clean & very well maintained! The staff was super friendly! The staff is so helpful with anything you need! First of all, the store is very well organized. Best I have seen as far as Plato's closets or consignment stores go. So easy to shop! I love the various racks of name brand clothing. One rack dedicated to Victoria's Secret, one to ASOS, one for Nike, etc. They have general racks too but I love shopping the ones by brand. Second, the inventory is incredible! Always a ton of hidden gems. You never leave empty handed. Some really high end brands and in excellent condition! Third, THE PRICES ARE FANTASTIC! If you're planning on selling your clothes this isn't the place to do it. I had a bin full of name brand clothes (20-30 items) that still had tags on them. Granted I didn't expect them to take all of them but apparently they had their boss go through my bin and she only took the cheugiest items and left stuff like brand new American eagle jeans, a dusty rose colored silk wrap dress and Nike leggings. So in other words do yourself a favor and sell your clothes and shop elsewhere. read more

I went to this location today where I usually have pretty good luck with selling clothes and getting a pretty good amount of money for them. I brought in three Fabletics sports bras that were all new with tags and that were originally $60 each. It took the employees almost a half hour to get through my three items because they were talking with each other or on their phones. Once my items were done she said that she could give me five dollars for them. How are three $60 sports bras worth five dollars? That means each of them were worth less than two dollars. That is ridiculous and I'm pretty upset about it. I know that they usually give a lot more for items that are that expensive, like Lululemon. read more

I've always liked shopping here, but recently I decided to try and sell some of my clothes. I brought in a big box full of cute, hardly worn clothes. They told me it would be about 20 minutes to go through my stuff. I took a walk around the store and then noticed my name on the board. They told me that they weren't going to take any of my stuff because some of it was too worn and not in style. Now, I didn't expect them to take everything, but lying to my face is ridiculous. There was a lot of stuff in there and that box was barely touched. Too worn? No. There were items in there with tags on. There was a pair of jeans my husband bought that were brand new, just too small. A brand new dress from Express was in there. Tags still on. When I was going through my stuff I made sure to grab things that were trendy. To be honestly I feel like I was judged first hand, before looking at what I brought it. Tons of stuff in that box can be found at Forever 21 right now. It's ridiculous that they took two minutes to skim through everything and not even take a good look. As I was leaving I was baffled at the short amount of time and the fact that they didn't want ANYTHING. The lady told me "sorry but it has to sell in our store" Yeah, ok. Sure. This place gave me a weird vibe. They have some nice stuff, but I noticed a lot of it has some stains, when watching the staff look through the bags of clothes that folks wanted to sell, they were really non committal and vague about what they wanted. Staff told me it was a teen store and they needed teen items, cool I get it. They had a few kiosks of stuff from ASOS and Anthropologie, so I was hopeful, I had two really nice dresses from ASOS, gorgeous BOHO dress from ULLa Johnson that was never worn. I did not expect them to take the whole bag but they rejected the entire lot and said that it would not sell? They could "donate it for me" if I wanted. That is sooooo old , not even trying to hear it. Had that done to me before , at other places only to go back and see my stuff on the rack. If I was going to donate I would of done so myself( and do on a regular basis). This was kind of a fact finding mission , because I was interested in opening my own franchise, but I have some concerns. I am curious if anyone else has had similar experiences recently with this particular Plato's? Or any other Plato's ? Platos closet is a good concept but if you look around at the clothing they are very worn and some even stained. I bring my almost new clothing in ... express jeans and other name brands and they want to offer like 10 dollars for 3 things and "can't take" the rest even though they are way more up to date clothing than what's in store and again .... almost new ... how are they selling stained things but not mine... then they go "we can donate the rest to foster care" i personally think this is a scam they tell you they can't give you the money then I believe they end up price tagging the items they said they didn't want. You may as well give to charity off the bat for the money they'll give you for quality things. read more

I LOVE Plato's Closet Layton WAY MORE than "normal" stores ...because it's NOT like other stores. It's thrift store PRICES ...on NAME BRAND clothes. (Which sounds like an ad but I bought $80 shoes for $17) PLUS Selina (one of the owners of the LAYTON location) goes out of her way to buy QUALITY used CLOTHES (no really, ALMOST NEW ...like hardly ever worn). We've always had good luck here. The people are nice and always respectful, and they are honest about what you bring in. I feel like I get great pricing, and it's easier than having to man a sales post/arrange pick up etc. like on a social media sales post, especially if you don't have time to do so. It's quick and easy. They do seem to have trouble with higher end labels, I think they can't authenticate them very easily. So save those for Namedroppers. Plato's Closet sells lightly used clothes and will also buy your clothes from you. It's a pretty good chain, but I feel like for the most part, you can usually find similar quality clothes for the same prices @ Ross, for NEW clothes! Every now and then, you can find gems here however. This particular location is pretty small, and has a very small men's area compared to the women's section. As a man, this is disappointing :( The women's section takes up about 80% of the store. Also, they are very picky about the clothes they'll buy from you. I prefer Ross, but it's worth a quick peek here every now and then. read more

I took the exact same things to Runway Fashion Exchange, and they took almost all of it. The employees are rude too.
