Most clothes are cut off jeans and sweaters cut turned into shirts. Don't bother trying to sell your clothes unless you cut them and make them trashy. No patterns apparently, and must be expensive brand names. And they sell swim wear, but wouldn't take swim wear. Make that make sense. lol silly place honestly. read more

I drove over 30 miles to take some clothes to sell. Most were never worn and had prrice tags on them. They were in almost new or new condition. Nothing damaged or dirty. I left my bag of clothes with them they said they would call me when they had looked at them. I went back to the store and was told they couldn't buy anything due to the condition of the clothes????? My friend and I looked at each other in disbelief. Almost all of the clothes were New.....I would not recommend this store in Destin to anyone. I don't know what they want do the clothes need to be in a store packsge. Very disapointed. read more

Worst Consigning Experience. This store has horrible customer service and consigning. I took a large bucket of nice, barely worn clothes in (Lilly Pulitzer, Columbia, Lucky Brand, etc.) and they only accepted one item. In addition to that, the employees were rude and unhelpful. Absolutely terrible experience. I did read all the other 20 bad reviews about the store, but wanted to give it a shot. All i can say is how unorganized the place was behind the counter. Got my clothes mixed with another persons clothes, lost their clothes, and only offered 15 bucks for 3 items, clothes worth over 300 dollars. Never had a worse experience. This is the worst Plato's I have ever been to. The girls that work there are so rude and would talk down to you about dropping something off/ picking up. They don't give you the money your items are worth and don't give you the chance to say no. The place is a mess and honestly rather go to goodwill. Don't waste your time. read more

Let me tell you about Plato's closet here on Davis hwy. I have a service animal. I have taken my service dog in this store a couple times. I have a little young girl come to me and tell me I can't have my dog in the store. I go on to tell her she is any service animal, she don't want to hear that and neither did the "boss" that was hiding behind the scene. So I'm in the dressing room trying on clothes. Next thing I know I hear someone knocking out the door well low in the hole. They called the cops on me so this is embarrassment enough. Top told me to get dressed come outside and I get dressed and I come out the dressing room And they take me outside at this time. I'm in tears because I'm so embarrassed that they would even dare pull me out. so everybody in the store has stopped and is now staring at me thinking that I have done something wrong which I haven't done nothing wrong. I don't still I have a service dog. I was legal. Everything was good so the cop takes me outside not sure where the cop my paperwork and everything. I get corporate number of called corporate twice so far they have not called me back so I'm gonna take it the next step further I'm gonna take it to channel 3 news because that was an embarrassment to me that was belittling me that was you know just a horrific horrific feeling for me like having the whole store stare at me for nothing thinking I've done something wrong. Then to make things worse as we go to this part our ways the cop goes well. You're not trespassed from here because you haven't done anything wrong yeah duh I haven't done anything wrong. I have paperwork showing that she's my service dog how I do anything wrong but you pulling me out of the fitting room for nothing and having the whole store stare me down no no apologies no nothing no!! read more

very sad to write this review as i have always loved plato's closet and have gone to so many different ones with great experiences. ... this plato's specifically i have always had HORRIBLE EXPERIENCES. will NEVER sell clothes here again or shop here. don't even waste your time.. the employees were EXTREMELY rude and disrespectful. the little high schoolers "working" would rather sit behind the counter on their phones ~ gossiping. i called in advance to get the details on selling clothes before driving 40 mins across town. the girl on the phone stated they were accepting 2 bins. i pack 2 HEAVY bins across the parking lot to walk up to the door and find a sign that said "only accepting 1 bin" ~ less than 2 hours after talking to the girl on the phone. the girl at the counter was very hateful, told me to read the sign although i had just talked to someone, would not make any exceptions, and asked me who i even talked to on the phone in the first place. they looked through my clothes for 5 mins before just leaving the bin in the middle of the floor (didn't call me or let me know they were finished). when i finally approached the counter the girl asked if i had gotten my stuff and if i wanted to do a "trade". didn't tell me how many items they took, how much, or anything. the girl very quickly placed the bin on the counter of the 5 items they were taking and snatched it back off the counter before i could even look inside. the girl very rudely dropped the money in my hand as well. i shouldn't have accepted the sale as i'm sure they bought some of my lululemon and name brand items for $4 a piece ~ $19 total ?? do better plato's (of pensacola) ...& maybe hire some ppl that actually want to work ?? read more

Only giving one star because you can't give 0. The store hours state that they are open until 9pm on weekdays and Saturdays. My daughter was turned away this evening. Went 2 days this week with family. Both times staff were very rude, ignoring questions, ignoring requests for dressing rooms, several brought clothes to sell only to be told they only took one bag per group - that's not on their website anywhere. There were a dozen people in the store but they turned off music after a discussion that people might then go home. When that didn't work they complained loudly that people were shopping at 8pm (when the store is supposed to be open until 9pm). Not one employee was helpful or friendly. This store has the most rude little girls that work there. I have stood at the check out line for several minutes while they sit right in front of me having full conversations. When one finally acknowledged me she just told me she wasn't on the register.... Like ok well grab the girl that is?! These girls need a reality check and an actual boss that will set them straight. I never leave reviews because I try to be pretty understanding if an employee isn't having a good day, but I was so surprised at how unkind the employees here were. There was one very nice employee who checked me in to have my clothes sorted through, but it was not the same for all of the other girls. I felt like I was imposing on them for asking for a fitting room because of the way a girl stressfully raised her voice and was rude about it. There were lots of passive aggressive remarks from that girl in particular when I asked questions. No one could be bothered to even look at me, everyone had an exasperated tone of voice, and I was interrupted when trying to say something or ask a question at least three times. And I'm the same age as most of these girls, so please don't think I'm a boomer getting mad because of kids these days. I also work in customer service and would be embarrassed to have acted the way some of these girls did. Decent items - prices not too bad. No sale was running when I went in. Little disappointed. The store is always clean and orderly. Staff could be friendlier. I've tried several times to sell cloths. High end fashion name brand clothing's wicker with tags still on. I'm either turned away Bc they say they have too many cloths & once I was told my cloths were too out of style. I've sold a lot here and obviously you're not going to get great prices, but I usually sell about 10 things and can get 5 new pieces without spending any money. However, I recently bought a skort and when I got home I realized there was... bodily fluid on the inside of the shorts part. It was absolutely disgusting, so make sure you look at the clothes thoroughly before even trying them on, because it's clear the staff doesn't. read more

Always so disappointed in this place. I go out of my way every time to drop off a bunch of cute barely used name brand clothes and get barely anything in return. Taking more than half of the items and giving me something just as little as $10 for all of that. Very disappointed in this particular store. The staff are very unprofessional. My daughter stepped on a tack which went through her shoe into her foot. When mentioned to the staff, they completely disregarded our concern. After dropping off clothing, after 4 hours, they neglected to call me when they were finished. I can't even rate this Plato's closet because of how much of a joke it is. The workers are just awful. The little girl that took my clothes (the ones I was selling) said it would be 15 mins. I go back in 20 mins after I look around & they say it's not ready so my brother and I ask if they'll call me if I go sit in my car and they say yes. The same little girl who checked my clothes in was at the registers doing nothing and watched me walk out. I go back in an hour later asking if they have an eta of when it will be done and the same LITTLE GIRL who checked me in goes" oh it's been done for awhile now, we knew you were in the store so we don't call when you're in the store" so I said okay whatever so she tells me how much money I get back and I'm like whatever and then QUICKLY shows me what they picked through and picked. She wouldn't let me put my hands in and check what they took. I had Levi jeans, lulu lemon, urban outfitters, free people, north face... nice brands with being barely worn. They took my most expensive things and gave me 25$. I'm already home and it's too late to go demand my things back. Overall good store for the prices and selection. But, the selling experience could be better. I've been coming for years and quite often, and my clothes are usually turned away after waiting hours for them to sort through them. I bring Lilly Pulitzer, Brandy Melville, and other top names but are usually rejected and turned away. Then I go through the store and see picked, pilled and old clothes and think, "what?! How did this get picked but not mine?" Also, a lady who opened a dressing room for me didn't knock or look under the door and opened it on somebody changing!! I was appalled she didn't have better sense to check under the door for some legs standing there. They occasionally have sales which brings everything down to $1-$5, which is great depending on what you're looking for. Shoe selection for women is great, and men's section is super for my boyfriend who likes polo. read more

After driving 30 miles, I arrived at 6:45pm ( about 2 hours before close) and was told that they stop accepting clothes/shoes at 6:00pm. I questioned why this wasn't advertised anywhere and the associate said "It is advertised in multiple places" ( I looked everywhere and still have not found this to be the case), she also stated that she had worked at multiple locations and that was the rule everywhere. She then back tracked and asked if we were the ones who called earlier that they told 7 was the cut off (We weren't). When I called earlier in the day not once was it mentioned that they had a cut off time, they only mentioned the store hours and how much I was allowed to bring in at one time. I called the Mobile store after leaving, who let me know that all the stores do accept clothes until 7:00pm. I will not be returning as this particular associate was very rude and could have handled the situation with a little more diplomacy. The Mobile location will be receiving my business and recommendations. read more

When I got in the store, I was told that they were no longer accepting clothes for that day, even though they didn't close for over three more hours. I wish I could give it zero stars. I came in with nearly brand new clothes, PINK, Lucky Brand, Miss Me, and tons more name brands. No stains. No holes. Not even busted threads. I had two massive bags of clothes and a box with some extra stuff and all they took from that was a tiny Plato's shopping bag. Are you serious? I'd rather make the drive to the Destin Plato's Closet.
