Believe the 1 star reviews. I had a similar experience and was treated so poorly when I started actually questioning about treatment after spending thousands of dollars the last 4 months. They don't like it if you ask questions.... I recommend to every person who has brought a pet here to request their records. Missing documentation, notes on what my pet went in for, they didn't even know what medications he was taking even though they were prescribed by them, and saying I missed appt when in fact I did show... apparently if the Dr doesn't put in notes that means you weren't seen. They are also owned by a corporation and won't take any accountability for their negligence. Just an updated review of this practice. We had to bring our pup in for a potentially urgent matter yesterday. I called at 8:10, they had him in as soon as I could drive there, and they handled everything with skill and efficiency. Later, I needed the lab results and visit notes for insurance and had them in about 2 minutes. They also had my follow-up questions answered in minutes. My pup saw Dr. Kate Heatherton yesterday, who took excellent care of him. I am thrilled with their care. Thank you! For those who have complained about cost--they are no more or less expensive than any other veterinary practice. Get insurance!! read more

PLEASE listen to the negative reviews. I wish I had. My otherwise HEALTHY 3 year old cat started vomiting/not eating. Went to the vets on an emergency call and he was admitted. Was told that he was getting sicker and would need exploratory surgery to "find" what was wrong. Well, they ended up telling us his gall bladder was having issues, and his small intestine had inflammation. Anyway, fast forward a week later, $3400 later, and my cat was dead. Doctor Joseph Church killed him. I know it. Doctor Kim even told us he told Kim not to care for our cat and that he would handle it. DR. Kim also told us completely different things than what Chirch was telling us. We never did get a straight answer on why our poor kitty died. Do your pets a favor and go literally anywhere else please!! read more

I was not surprised that when I opened this location to post my review that this place only has 2stars. I re-homed my neighbor's dog and have had nothing but issues with this animal hospital. First let me say that I totally understand and respect that there are rules regarding pet medical records; however, they were more than eager to let me pay off the previous owners balance and for the medicine that was ordered on November 4th, yet gave me such a hard time actually transferring everything over to my name. It's now over a month later and I finally was able to pick up the medicine. Did they call me to say "hey we finally got everything straightened out and you can come in to pick up the medicine", nope...did I have to give it one last attempt and call them, absolutely! And I wish I would've been more prepared when the girl told me they called me on November 7th (I didn't even get our dog until the 19th and my initial call to them was the 21st!) lol I would hope that whoever oversees this location reads this and realizes a change needs to be made immediately. There is no true teamwork within their staff & it seems like there is a lot of confusion between the office staff. I not only called numerous times, I also stopped in to chat with them, and after observing even more when I picked up the medicine, it was clear to me that I wasn't the only one they treated poorly. I watched them be rude to another lady who was preparing to bring in her pet. It's a shame, I've never been in an environment that focuses on pets be so inconsiderate to the owners trusting that they'll receive all around great care. My biggest concern is that if they treat the owners (that have voices) with such disregard and disrespect, how do they treat the pets that have no voice? So, these bad reviews really had me up at night- but I just gotta let ya know how utterly happy I am with Plattsburgh Animal Hospital. We just bought a house up here (Lyon Mnt)- so we did not yet have a vet set up. Sunday A.M, our 12 year old dog, Murphy, woke up shaking and disoriented. I took his temp and it was 104!! I quickly Googled vets in the area- and decided to try and call the first one to see if they had a message about emergencies ( i had heard we may have to drive to Vermont!) By the grace of God- a live person answered!!! They offered me an appointment within 30 minutes- I could not believe it!! The vet that saw us was amazing- very caring, thorough and went over all the issues it might be. We left Murph there to get IV fluids and blood tests. Ends up, our dear Murphy had acute pancreatitis. He spent 3 nights at the hospital- and I was able to call and get updates numerous times daily. His fever finally broke on Wed- and we got to take our boy home to further recover. ALL of the staff we met and dealt with were very kind and helpful. The doctors who cared for Murphy answered all my questions, called me when I asked, and really were wonderful. I cannot thank them enough for seeing us within the hour, taking such good care of our boy, and getting him back home healthy. I am sorry there are so many bad reviews. As I read them when Murph was in the hospital -it made me sick as I was imagining the worst. Well, I am so thankful that we had NO issues with Plattsburgh Vet. They were amazing....and we are so thankful for them during this stressful time. Murph is home, happy and feeling so much better. I was given his records to forward to our vet at home in PA without an issue- and all is good. Thanks Plattsburgh Animal Hospital. My dog had an injury that could be classified as a minor emergency. Being new to the area, I called a couple of animal hospitals. Plattsburgh Animal Hospital got us in right away! They told me up front (on the phone) that there was an extra charge for last minute booking fee, which I would expect from most vet hospitals, especially since I was not a client yet. When we arrived, we barely had to wait. Dr. Weaver and the Vet Tech/Asst that helped us were great - so nice, patient and good sense of humor, which put me at ease. We were in and out pretty quickly. Called at 7pm Wednesday because my dog is in diabetic crisis and could die. She's a patient of theres and was just hospitalized there. They advertise 24 hour emergency on call services. I called and was told that there's no one on call and I need to drive an hour to Burlington. I never got angry or upset or anything. I got hung up on. She basically told me "sorry. Go to Burlington. We had our sweet boy checked for a cough and were recommended to get a ct scan. While doing the scan and under sedation they were to also remove moles. When my husband picked him up he hadn't asked for our military discount which would have been over 100 dollars. Anyway that's the least of our worries. I got a call on a Friday telling us the news to keep him comfortable I wanted to speak to the vet who did scan and mole removal. The worst moles that bleed were missed I called the office three times and was assured the dr would call me which never happened Before posting here I wrote a letter explaining why we were upset and of course no reply. Lesson learned. It's all about the money and this isn't the first I've heard about this. A friend had her beloved pet euthanized and had to prepay. We will not be back. Found two vets that are caring understanding and return calls even when they are on vacation. Best advice.... stay away. read more

The response time to calls takes way too long. I left a message regarding the need for a refill. I didn't want to just walk in. I waited all day and no call back. Then I turn up a few minutes before closing and the staff are standing around inside and one of them sneak up to the door while I'm behind my truck and locks the door and quickly walks away. They all stand there first giggling and then ignoring me. All I wanted was a refill that they had never returned the call about. Plattsburgh animal hospital, zero star rating. after ive spent thousands here i would not ever bring another pet here. They are more worried about getting more money then addressing the people already paid. They also double bill you or charge you for the same thing. they have no compasion for animals or people nor do they care after you have given them thousands of dollars over the years in business when you have a newly diagnosed insulin diabetic 9 yr old cat the information you need to save her life. You pay for the vet to do an exame and see your furry family member. you shouldn't have to google how to treat yr pet that's why he is the dr, especially when you dont have internet. Notorious for double billing, with in 2 years i was double billed atleast 5 times! the day my cat i learned needed insluin. with in 20 mins of leaving the office i called because she was breathing fast and heavy after her first ever dose i got charged an emergency fee( even though i was just there. and repeated everything they just did. never again i don't recommend this place. Check out the rest of the reviews pretty much all saying the same thing. then the dr that diagnosed her needing insulin was going to check to see what foods would be best for her and even though i gave them 2 checks costing over $700 that day for 2 visits and returning with in 20 mins of leaving and paying for a whole new exam plus emergency fee. They never got back to me with the information i needed until 5 days later. if you take your pet here know you will be on the factory line of cash cow for the vets, but no service to you or your fur people. you are better off seeking an online vet or googling it! I had to put my cat down. i vowed never to return to Plattsburgh animal and i had done business with them for over 4 years! this was not a 1 time experience with them Thank Goodness i found a real vet, 1 dr. clinic as busy as the 5 dr's clinics here, but he actually cares and gets back to you and explains stuff and is very honest. I love the vets here, they treat me wonderfully and always ensure my cats are happy and healthy and helped me tremendously with getting set up with care credit. However, the people at check in and registers are so incredibly rude every single time I come in it's disheartening and gross. I am OVERLY nice to them every single time because that's just who I am, but they continue to be rude to me when I've spent thousands here just because I love my pets. Disappointing. I've never left a negative review in my life but it's just very frustrating to be disrespected every time my pets are seen. If the vets weren't as great as they are, the check in rudeness would be enough for me to never come back. Very judge mental environment. read more

This place is good for only having your pet fixed or to get medications for heartworm and flea & tick prevention. When it comes to properly diagnosing illness they leave very much to be desired. It took three trips over 5 days with my dog and the bills to prove it before I finally wised up and realized the 2 Vet's that saw my dog were doing absolutely nothing to effectively address his illness. I went immediately to another vet and my dog's illness was addressed in one visit. My dog showed improvement the very next day. My time and money was wasted at Plattsburgh Animal Hospital along with my pet having to suffer unnecessarily for 5 days because of them. Would give zero stars if possible, don't bring your beloved here, they are overpriced , and the drs. working there are not very knowledgeable or experienced, and the other staff are rude and look about as pleasant and happy, as you might expect, when one works in a place that is poorly run, and provide suboptimal care to their patients and family. I brought my cat in there, who was gravely ill and symptomatic , and this place did overpriced bloodwork, but did nothing to address/ medicate / or treat his immediate needs, they also told me they would call to consult the facility I told them had cared for him in the past, but they couldn't be bothered, and instead lied and said the facility couldn't be reached ( I later contacted this prestigious facility, and they stated no one from Plattsburgh ever called or even left a message), I totally believe them, because I , as a pet mom , was able to reach and communicate with them whenever I've called them, why would they ignore a MD trying to consult with them? Will never set foot in this place again. Sorry I wasted time and money with this team of losers. read more

Very professional and friendly we highly Recommend Plattsburg Animal Hospital they went above and beyond to help us out during a medical emergency We had and our regular vet that we used to use that is located about a mile east on the same road would not see our dog for an emergency during regular hours I explained that he was barely breathing laying out flat on the lawn when I found him His eyes would follow me but he didn't move his body at all. I told the lady on the phone I would pay emergency fees or any amount needed to get our Dog seen ASAP but that didn't seem to matter to our previous veterinary place apparently I could not believe what I was just told. Thats when I called Plattsburgh Animal Hospital and I was told to bring him right down that they would see him soon as I could get him down there a huge relief So I made the trip and they worked there magic over the weekend and called us every day with updates three days later we had our dog back home And I can not say enough good things about Plattsburgh Animal Hospital they Are Very Professional and Friendly. I Never leave feedback usually but this time I figured it was the least I could do to repay the favor they did For us when we asked them for Help. Thanks Again for all you did for us during our medical emergency and going above and beyond When we asked you's for help It was definitely Greatly Appreciated you now have a very Happy and Grateful Customer for life here. I will never bring my animals nor will my family bring their animals here ever again. Not only was my father charged for procedures that weren't supposed to be done, but he was accused of "verbally attacking"the help and the doctors for simply asking why what he paid for was not done. He paid to get porcupine quils taken out, and they were not all taken out. Completely justifiable for being upset. His dog is in pain because the doctors at this facility did not do what they OVERcharged him for. Poor customer service. Lack of any sort of bedside manner. I know they are animals, but cmon. Plattsburgh Animal Hospital does not deserve a single star. This facility is all about money, and that completely blows my mind. Don't like your job? Quit. Simple as that. read more

I brought my newly adopted cat here for his first check up since being in a new home. He was a stray cat and is FIV+ and needed a simple wellness check up. He had gone in without me due to COVID and while waiting I stopped at a store right next door to pick something up. This took 5 minutes and I received a very rude phone call from the front desk demanding for my card information to pay for the appointment even after being told I was 2 minutes away and would be back shortly. No one told me I had to pay right at that moment, therefore I did not know to stay. When my cat was done with his appointment someone brought him to my car and started walking away, giving me no information about his visit. When I asked how he did and if everything was okay, I was told "I did not give him his check up so I don't know". After that, the vet was sent out after 10 minutes of waiting and gave me a run down of his visit but I was continuously given an attitude from every member of the staff, even before I brought him in. The vet kept inching away from my car as if he did not want to answer my questions, even though his records show he is FIV+ which obviously raises concerns, especially for a newly adopted cat. The staff at this hospital have horrible attitudes and show no passion towards animals what so ever. read more

I just moved to the area less than 3 weeks ago and called because my lab was bleeding profusely from his rectum. It was close to closing time so they said I would have to pay extra, which I said that I was willing to do. They put me on hold (for over 10 minutes I may add) to ask the doctor if they would stay open to see him. The receptionist came back and said that the attending vet was not willing to come in because our dog wasn't a patient yet (which I told them I would become because I need a vet here anyway). A sick dog is distressing enough, as any pet owner will tell you, without the stress of dealing with someone who clearly cares more about getting paid than they do about helping animals. read more

We've been taking our dogs here for a few years now, and the staff is wonderful- but the PHYSICIANS are lacking. The Vet (and I am not going to fully call out this Dr by name because I am not that person) gave my dog an unnecessary death sentence after a 10 minute exam. I was told that "without question" my dog's enlarged lymph nodes were lymphoma and he would have 6 weeks tops. Gave me the medical term "lymphosarcoma" written on a card and told me to Google it... WHO DOES THAT!!?? I was crying and devastated for a week until I figured I'd see what our options were for treatment and took my dog to an Oncologist for tests. $650 later I discover that not only does my dog not have ANY KIND OF CANCER WHATSOEVER, his nodes are most likely allergy related. This is the very same vet that had treated my dog's severe allergies in the previous warmer months, but apparently couldnt make the connection. I resent the way I was treated and I really resent the unfounded pain and suffering I was put through. What if I was someone who didnt have the extra money to have testing done and made arrangements to have my dog "put out of his misery" based on this Drs certainty in diagnosis?? It makes me upset to think. I will no longer be taking any of my pets to this vet to be sure, but I wanted to get the message out there that you do not have to take any vet's diagnosis at face value. I don't want anyone else to go through what I went through. read more

I would never put a dollar sign on my animals health, but I do expect after spending nearly $1000, a vet could spare a moment to discuss the procedure. When asking the technician about lab results their only reply was "I don't know" or an I received a very visible eye roll from the individual sitting next to the one happily taking my credit card. Lab results were not written in the chart. When I called prior to surgery to see if my females temp when down prior to them conducting surgery, the technician only response again was, "i don't know." I was informed I would get a call at one, but when I called the vet was on lunch break. No one explained why I needed to put flush in my dogs ears, or even walked through the medication I was suppose to give them post surgery. So many events that day set off alarm bells on to their level of care. It is obvious this business is not their for compassion of animals but to pad some wallets. read more

We live in CT, but we have a lake house in NY. My 3 year old dog broke out in hives all over her face, legs, and paws. The swelling was becoming more severe with time. After hitting dead ends upon dead ends, begging other doctors from other hospitals to see us but continuously denied, we were starting to lose hope. With some miracle we were able to reach Dr. Church from Plattsburgh Animal Hospital. At 11pm, well after their normal business hours, he allowed us to bring in our dog (we are not clients with them, but we are now!). He could not have been any nicer, calm, and caring. It was very clear that he cared about what was going on, and that the goal was to help our dog! We were there for under an hour, luckily it was a quick fix, but words can not describe how grateful our family is for this doctor. Knowing that we have an amazing place to take or dog to when we're on vacation up in NY gives us a piece of mind. Definitely recommend this animal hospital! read more
